The thing you're missing about the resolution is the fact the band scope & waterfall doesn't provide better detail.
Compared to the Apache Labs ANAN-100D on a large monitor, the Icom's poor 800x480 provides very little detail.
We agree however that it is still a very useful feature for people with eyesight problems.

I just subscribed because I really enjoyed your video. I am thinking hard about getting into ham radio. I have been in emergency services for the last 33 years and a just retired. I also done radio repairs for a coupe of counties around me for years. I done all the E911 systems along with all the repeaters around on all the mountains around those counties.

Wow! Is that all your land and antennas!!! I just have a small garden 40 feet x 40 feet in Scotland and use a long wire, though I will get a Yagi and a vertical back up in the summer of 2019. Seems so long away. Where I live it's a concrete jungle.
left click on the qso you want to tune on and keep holding the left button down and you can slide the mouse left or right to tine it onto the desired frequency. Then you don't have to touch the rotary encoder that ICOM calls a VFO.

Does the external monitor time out with the internal display. Or, is there a way you can run only the external monitor? Have you tested your external monitors for RFI vulnerably? Some monitors have more RFI problems.

Lovely drone shots. - I have to ask, if this was done during deep winter, how come you don't have at least thermal drapes on your window? Aside from keeping your hard earned heat inside and staving off the outside cold they help with acoustics. Just wondering an observation.
Well two reasons. 1. Is I hate messing with drapes all the time because I am always wanting to look outside and 2. I am lazy about such things lol

I think this radio will be a part of my shack in about a year, when the price starts becoming realistic and firmware becomes mature. Icom likes to dribble out features. Hopefully they won’t abandon this radio like they have others in the past. Icom 9100 owners you know what I mean. Still not forgotten that Icom. 3 light firmware updates in the lifetime of a HF/VHF/UHF/SAT/DSTAR radio, really Icom? Thanks for the support on an over 3k radio at launch with documented bugs. Who knows how the other manufacturers will respond to this rollout, might windup with something else.
My waterfall looks like yours. I can't figure out where the interference is coming from around here. Do you know what's causing the lines in your waterfall?
Mine was caused by my wireless router.
It turns out that my router was the culprit too.

I do like the radio, Its been one of the better ones that has sat on my desk! At the current prices I would jump at buying one.

you have to be a radio buff to like it, I made a massive aerial once for a friend, that could turn. He let me listen to his set up. Boring, whats the temp, hows you and your mrs, cq cq cq. like watching paint dry. I enjoy web chat more.

Well it appears the other guy does NOT know the difference between the band scope & the waterfall? His video was no help.He posted a new video after my question & he kept saying the waterfall was the band scope which I thought anyone who know what each is would know they are two totally different things? I ask him could he turn the waterfall OFF & leave the band scope & he never answered that question with his new video? He seems a bit confused to me if he does not know the difference? Maybe he's not the sharpest knife in the drawer?

800x600 isn't good. No offence. It just isn't. I'm happy if you're happy, but for me I want to see something far higher resolution.
Why not just buy a true sdr instead of buying the 7610. Lol....
the 7610 is a true sdr. besides. not everyone fancies a computer next to the TRX to control it.
If you need a 50" monitor I think much better glasses would be much cheaper & make a hell of a lot more sense.The 7610 is a bunch of HYPE since it does very few things that my ICOM 7600 already does.Worst of all is it has that stupid touch screen which will forever keep it out of my possession.Another Flagship Station by the folks at ICOM that AGAIN does NOT include D-STAR even as an option? ICOM designers are so lost they must have their heads a long long way up somebody's butt? They push for D-STAR then they push for their newest Flagship Station yet they don't combine the two? Does that sound like a design team of developers that has a clue about the hobby on top of pushing the useless touch screen crap? They must have someone in the family with some excess touch screens they are attempting too dump on the amateur radio community? I can't wait till those screens start failing & not responding & when they are no longer under warranty & the screens are no longer available.Also remember that once ICOM moves on to the next big thing & stops making the 7610 it's not long before there no longer is ANY support from them as well.Same with the others in the Big 3 but just a reminder.I see these as becoming a nightmare & far from a dream down the road & Yes I have had Lasik Surgery so my vision in the distance is VERY VERY Good so remember that I told you do long before it happened.
