Very neat interview! Highly enjoyed watching and listening! So fascinating. Thanks for sharing this! I LOVE this record, Shadows in the Night, so very much. It's my new favorite record of all time! So of course I love to hear and learn all about the recording of my new favorite album!! I love Bobby so very much, he's such a sweetie. Oh yes, and Al's a real cutie too. I Love to imagine Al chattin' with Bob, talkin' music history, two really adorable, sweet, musically gifted ol' guys..awww!!....and, damn straight, it sure IS a 'sexy record'!!!! even outright erotic, at times. My beloved Bobby's tender croonin' goes right to my heart, makes me all warm n' fuzzy and such. He's the Cuddlin'-est singer of all time; when I'm listenin' to him sing, it feels lke he's lovin' me all over with his tongue and his lips, as he serenades my clothes right off...hehe. I just wanna give my Bobby honey hundreds of smooches n' caresses n' lovin' soo much, but I know I'll never get to. He would never let my empty arms be filled with him......I can only give him my lovin' in my dreams.... "Full Moon and Empty Arms" is a real favorite o' mine, also "Some Enchanted Evening", "Lucky Ol' Sun", and "The Night We Called It a Day". All of the songs are so spectacular! And...Bobby's radio show was my first real major introduction to so many of the great, amazing, timeless, dazzling standards of the great American Songbook, and to all those fantastic crooners like Ol' Blue Eyes, and Dean Martin, Ella Fitzgerald, Anita O'Day, and Dinah Washington. I LOVE all those swingin' singers n' standards so much! What a treat it really is now, to get to hear Bobby croonin' some of these beautiful classics! So wonderful! :) I've been so elated over this record, and it has helped me feel SO much happier in the middle of this icy, cold, wintry, dreary month of February.
Good interview. I watched this long before I heard the album. And having listened to it finally, I had to return to see this again. A super album, a super recording job.
Wonderful conversation ! Removes many of my apprehensions about Bob covering Sinatra, I'm counting down the days till the album comes out. This looks like a brilliant set of conversations, I'll be following the rest eagerly.
I remember listening to an interview once with D. A. Pennabaker, where he said that Dylan would come by from time to time to listen to Don't Look Back, saying how impressed he was by the great audio quality of the mono sound in that documentary.
