Genesis 1:1 | BC: Before Creation

In the beginning God...
Those are the opening words in the best-selling book of all time. If you can believe those four words, you can believe the rest of the Scriptures. While it can be easy to quickly skip over the opening words and move on to the rest of the creation account in Genesis 1, we can find great value in pausing and considering what it means that when all of time and space began, God already was.
In this week's sermon, we begin with an overview of Genesis and then a deep dive into Genesis 1:1. We'll learn who wrote the book of Genesis and the background in which it was written, as well as how this book serves as the foundation for the rest of the Bible. And we'll see what learning about the beginning can teach us about the gospel itself, and search through the Scriptures to see if we can answer the question, what was God doing before creation?
