Hello from Tasmania Australia. I felt compelled to say, “Hello & Thankyou”. I can’t believe I haven’t found you until now, but glad I have. I wish you had reviewed the Silver 100’s. I’m just in the process of setting out to build myself a small system after a hiatus from Audio for a while due to the fact I’ve been living in transient mode for a few years. I’ve just bought a rural shack on a few acres overlooking the Tasmanian coastline and have a small room which I plan to set up. So far, I have the Listening chair, a retro coloured Stressless recliner…..& that’s as far as I have got 😂. The Silver 100’s are on my ever expanding shirt list. I basically just want speakers, amp & turntable. I might also DAC it, but that’s not a priority as vinyl is where my heart is. All said, I look forward to exploring your Channel, this was an excellent straight to the point review, even a convict could understand it 😂 👍🏻
Tarun I've got to say, your approach to reviewing equipment is simply excellent. Same format every time, a little bit of the philosophy behind what you're reviewing, technical, sound quality. And you're never afraid to say something is better than something else. Also no overly flowery subjective language that means nothing. Good on you, man, thanks for doing this!
Well. I have tried 13 pair of speakers since May. The Monitor Audio Silver 50 7G's have won. I listen near field/small room. The clarity and detail won me over. The Piano Black (to match my SVS Micro 300) is stunning. They truly are beautiful. That matters a bit, to be honest. I appreciate your content, Tarun. You seem less like a salesman than most other reviewers. In other words, I trust your opinion. I realize that speaker preference is as subjective as musical tastes, but I feel you are shooting straight. With that information, I have, and everyone should, take full advantage of speaker retailers return policies and try products that interest you in YOUR situation. Cheers! /../,
Your honesty and great reviews are very refreshing and much appreciated in this modern world. These speakers pique my interest and based on your opinion, will be placed on my wish list. Thank you for your time and effort in introducing us to this speaker. All the best to you and yours.
@Audio123 , you are certainly entitled to your opinion. He has not steered me wrong, and I value his opinion. I have purchased several items on his opinion, and they have matched his reviews. Granted, not every one has been perfect, but my ears are different. As to being paid by the companies, he reviews, I don't believe this to be the case. Call me gullible, but I like what I have from his reviews.
@@Audio456 , I certainly do buy off opinions, as I can't listen to everything, but the difference is whether I keep it or not. As to my opinion, I voice it when I think it is necessary, and if someone doesn't like it, that is their prerogative. If companies reward him, then he is doing a good job and deserves his reward. I do believe he is honest and not overly influence by sponsorships, if at all.
@@Audio456 ; I get monetization and if he reviews something I already have, and his review is in my opinion honest, then I will still give his review a favorable comment. Thank you for this discussion, but I think we are now flogging a dead horse. Take care and thanks for your time and perspective.
Hi Tarun, I must say that the way you describe sound quality its like you are looking at a beautiful colorful artwork. Amazing quality to have. Sometimes it becomes hypnotic.
Excellent take on the monitors. Having two pair of floor standers, silver series, since 2004 its good to hear Monitor Audio still has great value and sound.
I had a pair of Monitor Audio rx1’s the equivalent to the silver 50 and I have to say I was very impressed with the performance for the money (around £500 at the time) and the build quality. I have since upgraded to Spendor D7’s but I still have the MA’s boxed up, just might have to get them out and try them again.
I have the rx1s too, they can be improved by removing some of the foam around the basket of the bass driver, and replacing the crossover capacitors with clarity caps eg PX/CSA.
I restarted my audio journey during the early days of Covid…and my experience with a pair Monitor Audio Sliver 100s (perhaps the generation before this one), was one of your former variety. Paired with my 40+ year-old Bob Carver C500 Solid State Power Amp…I sat on my sofa in a game of Russian Roulette, winching each time I took new music for a spin wondering if my ears were about to bleed, or not….even with a tube preamp driving the rig. Perhaps bad synergy…but it was a bad restart of my audio journey. I sold them off quickly and I might have had two demons happening there…bad component matching and the previous generation speakers. …As you describe the new series…I think even these would be too "lively" for my listening preferences…but I get that you kept an open mind and pulled an enjoyable experience from this new Monitor Audio offering! BRAVO! 👍🏼
Thank you, Tarun for another entertaining and informative review. And I must say again, I find you to be the best YT HiFi reviewer by a wide margin. I am so impressed that your reviews contain comparisons. Well done. Maybe a review of something like the big MBLs, or a massive Gryphon amp. But seriously I appreciate that you review equipment that us regular folks can aspire to.
Your review resonates with my experience, having gone from Audiolab 6000A to Exposure 2510 to power the Monitor Audio Silver 200 made all the difference. It’s a sweet combo.
Great review. I've had the Silver 100 7g, in ash. For nearly a year now, teamed up with the Audiolab Omnia. I'm really enjoying the 100's, with the 8" drivers.
Our Man TARUN has always been honest in his endeavors with our beloved hobby and for some people business and for yours truly both. Thank you 🙏🏼 for all the great reviews you hooked us audiophiles on 🔔
Thanks Tarun, you certainly know how to get down to the essential qualities of audio equipment. Although I don't think these speakers would be my cup of tea, it is nice to see the progression of engineering that speaker manufacturers are currently engaged in. I often wonder if these manufacturers appreciate top rank reviewers like yourself. In the case of this little speaker: could Monitor Audio ask for better (honest) advertising? It is indeed a great time time to be an audio enthusiast. (with the trust factor you bring to the table)
Wow! What a review! You never disapoint, but this time you really got me thinking 'I must hear these speakers for myself'. Also, the way you pointed out their strenghs and shortcomings is certainly also a warning to be sure to have the right amp to get the best from them. You technical description is what's lacking from most other reviewers and that really sets you apart. Superb job and thank you!
@@abritishaudiophile7314 love your channel, so does the Youtbe algorithm, is there a chance you would interested in doing a series on room measurement and room acoustic treatment? Given the very low cost with free online tools and DIY acoustic panels
Great review Tarun, thank you. I own the larger 100 7g model powered by Audiolab 6000a and run 6000cdt and Bluesound Node thru it, I think its a nicely balanced system and I'll be keeping it for a good while I expect.
Hello Tarun! Having been to Munich, I must say that true innovation at moderate prices is hard to come by. And yet - there are two speakers I suggest to look at. The first will be an obvious choice: The Mofi Sourcepoint 10 sounded spectacularly good all around in Munich and is in my opinion an absolute price breaker. I was there on Sunday and my wish to compare them to the newer and smaller Sourcepoint 8 was not granted. Maybe you can step in via UA-cam. My second suggestion is a new horn speaker that will be brought to market later this year by the Avantgarde Acoustics of Germany. It‘s called the „Colibri“, relatively small and relatively less pricey than their other offerings. They sounded more than OK, unfortunately the music played was slightly „esoteric“ so a final verdict is difficult. Making these suggestions I notice of course that they are way more expensive than the items you currently review. However, they are not too unrealistic to afford for many people. Which brings me to another subject as far as Munich is concerned: Prices for many components are no longer understandable in any way. In many rooms, the feeling of being offered snake oil prevails. Thanks for your excellent reviews and greetings from Germany.
I haven't heard this model, but the Gold 100 4G that I got to spend time with recently were special speakers that I'd be happy to own. Great stuff. That tweeter in the Gold is very nice indeed
When I recently upgraded my speakers I auditioned Monitor Audio, at a much higher level. I found their overall performance, impressive, but they were power hungry and tended to lose tonality at lower listening levels. Harmonic richness is a virtue I crave, the Monitor Audio fell behind similarly priced competitors in that regard.I think your review reflected that!
@@noob_strikes0011 Depends what amp and sources you have. Generally, Wharfedale tend to be on the forgiving side, and synergy is the most important aspect of a mix 'n' match kit. Bear in mind room acoustics also influences the whole sound. I'm pretty sure Tarun has mentioned this before. For example, if you have a Marantz amp, which tends to be on the smoother side of neutral, paired with Wharfedales and your room is has carpets and soft furnishings, your system can resemble sonic soup and a tad lifeless. Hope that helps.
@@plasticpenguin1 thanks. Fyi room has no carpets, tiles on floor, 2similar sized furnitures wardrobes on side walls .. bed on 4th wall > facing speakers. Amplifier class AB vintage type 70wpc. Sounded harsh sometimes.. so we add cheapest DAC 10$ ( spdif to RCA), treble harshness reduced, bass bloated but midrange sweeter sounding.
@@noob_strikes0011 Thanks for coming back. The harshness can be reduced by adding a cheap rug or two, but overall your room does seem reflective. Regarding the 'bloating' in the LFs, have you experimented with speaker positioning? If I remember correctly your Wharfedales are rear ported and don't like to be too close to the back wall. Just bringing them out an extra 2 or 3 inches can make audible difference. Cheers.
I have a pair of silver 6's, love them, just wish I had bought them in one of the gloss finishes though rather than the real wood veneer I have now, but that's just a looks thing after we redecorated the lounge.. they sound great and can go nice and low too without losing control of it all. I find them pleasantly neutral in tone..
my dad has the monitor audio silver s6 and rs6 speakers and to get them really show what they can do my dads 75 watt arcam alpha 9 amp works a dream on some albums im hearing stuff that we didnt know was on the album ,but i do agree with you about metal dome tweeters my B&W dm602s with naim amp was a extremely bright combination but soon switched to yamaha and that brought the high frequencies back in check and found the yamaha and B&Ws delivered a more 3d sound
Hi Tarun, Short and sweet, that is the impression of the review. I think that MA could not be happier with your review. But the way you describe these speakers, it is well deserved. The only negative as I can see it is that they are hard to drive. That seems to be the trend with modern speakers. It always makes me wonder, why can't they make true 8 ohm speakers any more?
Just today I listened to both the Monitor Bronze 100 5G and Silver 50 7G. The Bronze was quite good for its price point and had more bass. The Silver sounded much more refined and enjoyable to listen to. The improvement was quite a bit more than I would have expected from the price differential. I'd love to hear the Silver 100's but nobody stocks them locally. I also heard a pair of Paradigm Founder 40B's. They had much more bass than either, and sounded great, though they cost twice as much as the Silvers. In the $1,000 to $1,500 price range the Silver 50's are very solid contenders.
Thought I'd mention other amps, apart from ones Tarun tested, that work well with MA Silver. I've had my RS6s since 2005 so demoed many. My favs are in no particular order: Arcam is great, although avoid entry-level models. Creek Roksan Kandys and Caspians Leema Acoustic (for obvious reason) Midrange Yamahas Audio Analogue.
great review I love monitor audio speakers. still think the bronze B2, (not bx2 or br2 although these are great) are the greatest value for money speakers ever made. just a look at the quality of crossover components shows this companies refusal to compromise on sound quality, even in budget ranges.Keep up the great work, reviewing affordable quality products is very helpful to the future of our obsession.😊
Thanks Tarun, another terrific review. I'd love to see you review something from Roksan, the reviews of this brand are fairly thin on the ground. Cheers.
Dear Tarun, thank you again! A beautiful and useful review! I use Silver 100 7G (Ash is my favorite finish as well!) at present, I still need some more time for them… also because of keeping in mind RX1 I was using some years ago with pleasure…😎 Regards from Warsaw! Piotr
I am looking at these to replace an old set of B&W 600 series bookshelves. The amp they will be mated to, is the Rotel A11 Tribute, I have yet to listen to them but I know that from what I have heard, they will be a match made in heaven. I don't want to generalize, but I have never had in issue mating Rotel to any British gear.
Pulled the trigger on the oak black Silver 50 g7's. My only concern now is my perfectly working Topping VX1 being a bit on the weak side as a DAC/AMP setup that has no input to add a subwoofer and only 25w/channel (near field listening so low volume most of the time). So far my options for a replacement unit are the loxjie A30 and the NAD 3020(ugly but supposedly sounds great).
Another excellent and informative review Tarun which characterises this channel. I have the MA Silver 100 6g paired with my Exposure 2510. Although I’m sure I could upgrade to more price appropriate speakers, the performance is such that I feel it would need to be a significant investment to achieve noticeable improvements. The combo is good at relatively low volumes as well as high since the 8’’ driver produces quite a full, rich tone at low levels. I also don’t feel a subwoofer is essential which it would likely be with some other speakers. It has left me in a quandary regards what might pair better with the Exposure and proves I guess, that there is no perfect component or combination. Keep up the great work on the channel.
I tried a MA Silver 50 6th Ed in my system and concur regarding clarity, offering a good combination of detail and resolution for its size. I do not know if the improvements to the 7th gen improved what I didn't like (from memory) such as it sounded like a small speaker its size and could come off a bit dry, still it had attributes I enjoyed. As to getting a smaller version of the MA Silver 100, it was not and probably designed as supporting speakers for the larger lines. The Silver 100 sounded large, heavy dynamic swings with a solid bass with punch. The upper mids and treble could come off as sounding too compressed on the larger speakers though I mostly enjoyed it overall. Not a speaker for late night listening as you will constantly adjust volume, but if one wants a loud performance, the Silver 100s will do that. As for the smaller 50s, I thought it competent and per the review, the 7th gen likely added some improvements you can hear. The one issue I had with the 6th ed. is that with sibilant passages, while controlled in excessive sss sounds, they chirped...like a bird. Hopefully the issue was fixed in the 7th ed. I think the comparison to the Dali Menuet SE is fair. For me personally, I preferred the Dali Opticon 1 and Martin Logan 15i over the Silver 50 6th (returned), keeping the two models mentioned. While they may be considered class leading at their price point in clarity, personal preference, equipment matching and room, not to mention source and music come into play. One can prefer somewhat less expensive or more expensive speakers which is why a good listen and comparison is necessary in one's room and equipment. As to fit and finish, in my experience it is first rate with MA, the speakers look fantastic.
As usual, grreat review Tarun. Found the review informative and insightful. Would like to see you review the newly released Neat Acoustics Mystique and/or the Elite speaker, which were shown at Munich 2023.
Hi Tarun, These are on my audition list. I have the Roksan streaming amp and would think there would be a synergy between the two. I would like to ad that Monitor Audio are easy to contact for advice unlike some other manufacturers. I have a small room and seem to have reverb problems with most speakers. ( gone through numerous sets of speakers, i.e. SCM STC 11, KEF LS 50 metas, Dynaudio and others). I have reverted back to my old Missions SX1's. After a short discussion with Monitor Audio they recommended to rather go for the 50 silver than the more expensive 100 silvers. Anyway, their service is tops. I would highly recommend the as a company. Al
Thanks for the interesting review Tarun. I’ve often wondered about this brand of speakers. I would love you to review some of the more recent releases of the smaller bookshelf speakers from Proac or Harbeth or Spendor.
RX6's were my first proper speakers. They get used only occasionally and take up loads of room but they sound epic, and I'll never get move them on. Monitor Audio just do things right and give proper value for money. Have also heard the Gold 100's... i've never since heard such tonal correctness with absolute clarity at high volumes.
First of all, Having found your channel a few weeks back I would like to tell you that your presentation is probably the best I have come across and your understanding of how to express the various attributes of equipment is second to none. Or Wow am I hooked. I am not surprised at your findings on the Monitor Audio's, seems to me that they have perfected the art of building speakers with an abundance of clarity, of course, you will need to move upmarket to get the full range of tonal abilities and so I would suggest trying the MA 300 silvers and then their platinum range, you may then find what you are looking for, I personally have experience with Musical Fidelity Amps and MA speakers. You may have the chance that I won't, so maybe one of these class D amps like the Purifi Eigentakt stereo amp and MA speakers could be a great match. There are a lot of your videos to get through, so maybe you will have found the time by then.
A typically informative and insightful review Tarun, thank you. I do have a soft spot for MA as I've owned speakers from their Radius, Apex and Gold series in the past. I do think that the Silver series represents the sweet spot in their range in terms of finish and value and I actually prefer their gold dome C-CAM tweeters over their more expensive ribbon siblings. MA's build quality and finish are absolutely first rate. And they produce such a wide range from the 50 to 500, centre and di-poles for home cinema enthusiasts, they have a great deal to offer at their price point and have something for every person and every room. As far as highlights from Munich's show goes, I did spot some very interesting new components and speakers from Quad. I adore Quad's house sound, owning the Vena II and Artera Play+. But Quad are introducing a range of components that appear to be above their Artera line: the Platina series, including a 200wpc amplifier, and their new Revela speakers, which if the limited photos I've seen are anything to go by, look absolutely stunning. I have enough confidence in the brand that I think these two ranges could be something really worth checking out.
Hi Tarun - Until recently I shared with you that same bias regarding metal cone drivers. Without ever having heard them I'd convinced myself that their sound would be bright and lean. Several years ago I was disabused of that notion after hearing a pair of Monitor Audio stand mounted speakers at an audio show. The presentation in that hotel room tended more towards warm and rich than anything else. I'd never have guessed I was listening to metal drivers. Thanks for another brilliant review. How about a review of the new Falcon Acoustics M10? Or the Graham Audio LS5/9?
A quick follow up comment on the British Audiophiles review of the "Monitor Audio Silver" speakers as noted here. They are now on my desktop playing as I type. And, all I have to say to Taran about his review is, "BOOM." I went out and purchased the Burchart S400's a ways back, although not solely but largely on his review and i was not the least bit disappointed. May as well add the Triangle Bro 3's and Genese Trio's too.. Fast forward to now and If anyone is in doubt as to Tarun's authenticity or skill as a reviewer you better change the channel. After watching the review (twice, maybe three times) I had to tell myself, this man got it right and is batting 3 for 3, you are not taking a big risk here, so i pulled the trigger, AGAIN..... I for one am delighted you were open minded about the whole "metal tweeters" conundrum and decided to give these a chance. They are pretty damn dynamic and don't have any right sounding this good for a small speaker. With a subwoofer (Rel-T9) they are just awesome, perfect for a desktop. I also had the LS50's until i sold them thinking i would use the funds towards a pair of Dali Menuet SE's but I am not there yet. The Triangle Genese Trio's and Triangle Bro 3's (too large for a desktop) are for sale and i hope to dance my way into a pair of Dali Menuet SE's in the near future. Thanks Tarun, you are worth your weight in audiophile gold and I do not know what this community would do without you... 😇
Tarun I am so impressed that your reviews contain comparisons, but what I would like to see is: MA silver 50 vs MA silver 100. What the bigger brother does better and what is missing, or what is a tradeoff for being bigger of the same breed.
Great review, as always! I have enjoyed Silver 8 towers over the past seven years and recently got into the Gold 200s. I would be very curious to hear your thoughts on the Gold and Platinum lines in future reviews. Cheers!
How do like your Gold 200s in comparison to you silver 8s? Is it a big stepup because i also have silver 8s and would like to upgrade to the Gold Series..
My fave speakers from a long list of similarly priced, including the now iconic KEF LS50 meta. That's how great they are (or at least I think they are).
Hi Simon, thanks a lot for the detailed review. I'm tempted to get one pair - can you please share which are the wonderful stands we saw in the video? Best wishes
Hi Tarun, I have learnt so much from you for the past 3 years. Now I believe the time is right for me to upgrade my current system made up of marantz 7000n driving a pair of tiny floor standers from old discontinued castle speakers. I got it at a significant discount 4 years ago as a display unit from a local Hifi store. Following your advice, I have concluded I prioritized tonality over clarity and scale and dynamics (similar preference as urs I believe). I am currently looking into 2 options. Atc 19a and Proac 1sc fe. I have auditioned the Proac 1sc with unison research simply italy and I liked it a lot. The rich warm and holographic sound stage is something I have never experienced with my current system. I recently also found a good deal with a local atc dealer. The 19a matches the exact price of the Proac unison research pairing. I do not have the chance to auditioned the unit yet. Do you have a suggestion for good source components to match with both systems? I live in China and do not have the international payment method to join as you patreon. There wasn’t a video from u for the past weekend which made me felt something missing. Hope all is well and look forward to your new contents. Once again thanks for educating rookie like me in this exciting journey…
Hi Taran. Have to confess I'm a big Monitor Audio fanboy. Still own the old RS6 floorstanders, now consigned to the attic and only used when I get bored. Yes, totally agree about being tricky to match. The RS6s dipped to 2.5 ohms and with a low powered amp the whole soundstage can suffer. With the right amp they really spring to life. The Silvers are, IMO, the sweet spot of the MA range. Powered by the Leema it's a real musical hoot! By contrast, last year I demoed Gold 100 alongside the Dali Rubicon 2 and I was disappointed. Not sure if you know but MA have taken over the Roksan brand which sounds like a tasty combo, having heard the Kandy K2 with my RS6s. Yes MAs are fussy to get the best from them. Once you do, though, hang on to your collective hats. 🙂
Great review and as always really value your opinion. I borrowed a pair of these from my local Hi-Fi dealer and was really impressed but like you mentioned a subwoofer is a must, I paired with the AUDIOLAB 6000a, and although they performed well I decided to opt for the MA Silver 100 Heritage edition that don’t need the SW and Wow recommend Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble track “Tin Pan Alley” pour yourself a glass of something smooth and be amazed 🤗
Nice review. Glad you made the comparison with the Dali Menuet SE, which I have and know quite well. I've gone open baffle recently, with my Monacor Katana M-1 kit and my Decware ZM15M self-build clones with the Betsy baffle. Both, especially the latter, are imho better than the Menuets in most regards, not least scale and openness, but at £700 the value of the silver 50s can't be denied. I'd be intrigued to hear your opinion after the Munich show of the Mofi Sourcepoint 10s and the PMC Prodigy 1 and/or 5. I can always rely on you for an informed opinion less all the hype -- which is why it's worth waiting for your verdict for anyone considering something new.
My monitor audio are floorstanders. Always liked them but the metal dome tweeter is a bit sharp. I have some felt material over them to cut back some of their output. My next speakers will likely be soft dome tweeters I think.
Love your reviews Tarun! I m very interested how more classic concepts like the Falcon Acoustics IMF100 Loudspeaker Kit looks today in comparison with your favorite speakers like ATL, Elacs, Buchards ...
Just an idea for a future review...any chance of you trying the Lyngdorf TDAI 1120? It's been around a while, but is a super interesting piece of kit and would be interesting to hear your take on it. Apart from Room Perfect it also has real subwoofer integration, by real I mean it has a high pass for the mains which outside of AV equipment is quite the rarity.
@@abritishaudiophile7314 should be interesting, I notice you aren't averse to subwoofer with stereo listening, on paper it seems a very interesting bit of kit. To be honest I'm surprised there aren't more offerings with a proper high pass, seems like a bit of an oversight in my mind.
Great review, and great speakers. The Limited edition ones are beautiful too. One question from me: Is there any chance you'll be doing a review of either the Wharfedale Linton 85 or the Willsenton R300? I have seen no comparative reviews of the R8/R800i and the R300. I'd be very intrigued to hear your thoughts on the R300, as you have experience with the R8 and the R800i. Again, thanks for the time and effort you put into these videos, I genuinely love your reviews.
Great review thanks. I’m in the market for a smaller stand mount for a smallish room, speakers will be placed close to the rear wall and 1.5m apart. These appear to fit the bill. Would be good to get a comparison with the Dali Opticon 1 Mk 2.
Regarding your question "what should I review (after the Munich 2023 High End show)": One of my positive surprises at Munich 2023 were the JBL L100 Mark IIs. Big speakers, big sound, not outrageous price. Maybe have a listen? Cheers!
Great review Tarun. Interesting you didn't address the willsenton r8. I would like to see how they would work with that amp. As always, great pleasure to check in on your videos on the Friday commute.
A review of the Silver 300 would be an interesting one. 3 way using the same driver technology (not the 200 that is a 2.5 way). With regards to amplification, I have enjoyed Roksan and MA speakers in various guises over the years, and before MA bought them. Roksan amps typically have enough grunt to keep lower dipping ohm speakers behaving themselves.
Another great review!. Would be great if you could get hold of the MA Gold series or above where the MPD ribbon tweeters start from. Thoughts and matching amps.
It's not the driver type that determines if a tweeter is bright. It's the crossover voicing. If the tweeter is voiced hotter than the woofer, then it's going to sound bright, even if it's a silk dome.
Hi Tarun, welcome to my wonderful world of MA. What took you so long? 😂. For as long as you’ve been banging on about your ProAcs, I’ve been drivelling on about my GR20s. How ironic then that on the day I pick up a pair of speakers with a reputation for stellar midrange, you step into my world of clarity, definition and punch. Great review and I’m glad you liked them. I did try the earlier gen of 100s in my small room but the matching wasn’t right with the amp and the room. It just overpowered at about 50Hz. Pity, they were lovely.
I think it's called "Contempt before investigation" Guilty me! I had a pair of JBL 1600 speakers with a metal dome that looks like a horn. Very nice. Make me wonder about the Silver 100. Nice job.
Would be interesting to compare these Monitor Audios against the 1250 pound Dynaudio Evoke 10's I just bought for my study. The latter have a rich midrange, reasonable bass depth but also treble refinement.
For what it's worth I have m a floorspeakers & I'm building a pair of standmounts from revolver blown tweets with hoping this works well "outboard" m a ccam tweeters, but I think Dynaudio are on another level of nicety these m a's couldn't complete in the same playground as the evoke or emit 10's but that is only from my own experience as hifi synergy is the blackest of the black arts to try & perform IMHO & can rarely be pinned to one aspect of a component/s topology or connectivity to other component/'s, but if i had the spare bread I would try to audition both the evoke & emit in my listening environment for myself
I did a comparison between the MA Silver 8s and other speakers brands similar priced or much higher. The Silvers 8s easily beat all other brands in the showroom I compared them to. They like Elac and GoldenEar are exceptional value for Money.
Thanks for the review. I'm thinking about getting the Silver 50s and an amp to replace my desktop speakers. I know I'm late to the party, as this video was done over a year ago, but have you had any interest in reviewing one of the variants of the Axxess Forte (1, 2, or 3) from Audio Group Denmark. I'd be interested in hearing what you think of them. I'm not thinking of the Forte for the Silvers, but thinking about it. Keep up the great work. 👍🏽
MY first speakers ever were the Silver 100s and boy oh boy oculd these things sing The Silver 100s are from my unprofesional point of view the top pound for pound speakers for the $$ Great review like always BTW
I've had MA silvers (a much earlier iteration) for 15 years - I'm not sure whether any DNA has survived into the model reviewed here but I have been very very happy with the sound...periodically I've considered chaning them but have never found anything in a similar price range to justify the switch...they've survived a few amp changes and rewarded small upgrades such as slightly better cable and interconnects (nothing silly). Now they're "part of the family" which demonstrates another aspect of hifi independent of sound quality - I simply love them and probably won't change them although they might migrate to the conservatory from the listening room - if I can find something I like more!
Great video, thanks. I've had the same prejudice as you since buying some Mission metal dome tweeters in the 90's, ouch! maybe it's time to move on. Keep up the good work, it's very much appreciated.
Great review again . Funnily Enough I had a pair of well reviewed monitor audios around 15 years ago and did indeed think they sounded bright ! Re munich show it would be great if you can pull some strings and review the meridian dsp9 loudspeakers. !
Had Silver 2. Liked them a lot with Hegel H95! Also tried new Silver 100 7G, they perform much better. For me the best option here is Silver 100, but if the room big enough, mine not.
Hello Tarun, I hope you're doing well. Do you have any experience with the MA Bronze lineup, if yes how does the bronze 50, 100 sound compared to the silver 50, is there a significant difference between the two lineup because the silver 50 here is close to 2x expensive than bronze 50 and I want to save money unless there's a significant sound quality difference, thanks in advance.
Please note that the press images shown at the start of the Design & features section are of the sixth generation model and not the 7G. The rest of the images are fine. Apologies for the error 😊
All said, I look forward to exploring your Channel, this was an excellent straight to the point review, even a convict could understand it 😂
👍🏻
@@GR8Tmate thank you kindly. That is very much appreciated 😊👍
@@abritishaudiophile7314Hi Taroun , do you have experience with MA silver 6 model ?
I had the old Silver 100. They were too bright and harsh, ended up selling them. I now use a pair of Wharfedales, a lot better
Thank you Enid. It is very satisfying to have feedback like that 😊👍
Cheers! /../,
Thank you Shay. I speak as I find and try to be balanced in my appraisal 😊
Your honesty and great reviews are very refreshing and much appreciated in this modern world. These speakers pique my interest and based on your opinion, will be placed on my wish list. Thank you for your time and effort in introducing us to this speaker. All the best to you and yours.
Well said.
Very well said
@Audio123 , you are certainly entitled to your opinion.
Thank you Hirdesh. That is very kind 😊👍
Bass wise, you need to check the silver 100 with the 8 inch woofer!
Yes please!
I wanna to do that 👍

Another outstanding review Tarun. These are some beautiful speakers in the ash finish. Thanks!
Th am you kindly Bryan 😊👍
Great review. Worth having watched it at 5:30 a.m. at the Delhi airport. Thrilled to see an outstanding at this price.
Thanks Jeremy 👍
Excellent take on the monitors. Having two pair of floor standers, silver series, since 2004 its good to hear Monitor Audio still has great value and sound.
Thank you 😊
I had a pair of Monitor Audio rx1’s the equivalent to the silver 50 and I have to say I was very impressed with the performance for the money (around £500 at the time) and the build quality. I have since upgraded to Spendor D7’s but I still have the MA’s boxed up, just might have to get them out and try them again.
Cool 😎
BRAVO! 👍🏼
Thank you for sharing your experiences 😊
Thank you, Tarun for another entertaining and informative review. And I must say again, I find you to be the best YT HiFi reviewer by a wide margin. I am so impressed that your reviews contain comparisons. Well done.
Maybe a review of something like the big MBLs, or a massive Gryphon amp. But seriously I appreciate that you review equipment that us regular folks can aspire to.
Thank you Gerard. Very much appreciated 😊👍
Your review resonates with my experience, having gone from Audiolab 6000A to Exposure 2510 to power the Monitor Audio Silver 200 made all the difference. It’s a sweet combo.
That is great 👍
thanks Tarun !!! i love the affordable reviews!!!!!!!! $1,259 in Canada.
That is great 👍
Great review.
I've had the Silver 100 7g, in ash. For nearly a year now, teamed up with the Audiolab Omnia.
I'm really enjoying the 100's, with the 8" drivers.
Thank you. I would like to check them out 👍

Hi Tarun, thanks for the review! I do enjoyed watching it! Voting for more MA speaker reviews :) Perhaps Silver and Gold floor standing ones / towers.
@@manolvalchev thank you 😊
Thanks Tarun, you certainly know how to get down to the essential qualities of audio equipment. Although
I don't think these speakers would be my cup of tea, it is nice to see the progression of engineering
that speaker manufacturers are currently engaged in. I often wonder if these manufacturers appreciate
top rank reviewers like yourself. In the case of this little speaker: could Monitor Audio ask for better
(honest) advertising? It is indeed a great time time to be an audio enthusiast. (with the trust factor you
bring to the table)
Thank you Charles. These may make a useful reference at the price but I am now curious to check out the Silver 100s 🤔👍
Thank you Yves. Very much appreciated 😊👍
@@abritishaudiophile7314 love your channel, so does the Youtbe algorithm, is there a chance you would interested in doing a series on room measurement and room acoustic treatment? Given the very low cost with free online tools and DIY acoustic panels

Thank you Lars. I appreciate the suggestions 😊
I haven't heard this model, but the Gold 100 4G that I got to spend time with recently were special speakers that I'd be happy to own. Great stuff. That tweeter in the Gold is very nice indeed
Cool 😎
When I recently upgraded my speakers I auditioned Monitor Audio, at a much higher level. I found their overall performance, impressive, but they were power hungry and tended to lose tonality at lower listening levels. Harmonic richness is a virtue I crave, the Monitor Audio fell behind similarly priced competitors in that regard.I think your review reflected that!
Which company did you choose for tonality overall ?? We currently have wharfdale Evo 4.2
@@noob_strikes0011
Depends what amp and sources you have.
@@noob_strikes0011
Thanks for coming back.
Cheers.
Thank you 😊
Nice review Tarun, I see the Roksan Attessa in the background, looking forward to that review :) it's on my radar
Thank you. Coming soon 😊
I have recently bought MA Bronze 100 in the same finish. I am very happy.
That so great 😊
I have a pair of silver 6's, love them, just wish I had bought them in one of the gloss finishes though rather than the real wood veneer I have now, but that's just a looks thing after we redecorated the lounge.. they sound great and can go nice and low too without losing control of it all. I find them pleasantly neutral in tone..
Great. I hope the redecorating goes well 😊
my dad has the monitor audio silver s6 and rs6 speakers and to get them really show what they can do my dads 75 watt arcam alpha 9 amp works a dream on some albums im hearing stuff that we didnt know was on the album ,but i do agree with you about metal dome tweeters my B&W dm602s with naim amp was a extremely bright combination but soon switched to yamaha and that brought the high frequencies back in check and found the yamaha and B&Ws delivered a more 3d sound
Thank you for sharing 😊
I just loved this review, thanks Tarun! This just tickles my fancy for gold 100 or platinum 100 review😌
Thank you 👍
Hi Tarun, Short and sweet, that is the impression of the review. I think that MA could not be happier with your review. But the way you describe these speakers, it is well deserved. The only negative as I can see it is that they are hard to drive. That seems to be the trend with modern speakers. It always makes me wonder, why can't they make true 8 ohm speakers any more?
Thank you. The sensitivity would be 81dB into 8 ohms. They do need an amp with a decent power supply and a few watts 😊
Thank you for sharing John 😊
Love your reviews, honest and straightforward. Thank you
Thank you kindly 😊👍
Thought I'd mention other amps, apart from ones Tarun tested, that work well with MA Silver. I've had my RS6s since 2005 so demoed many. My favs are in no particular order:
Arcam is great, although avoid entry-level models.
Creek
Roksan Kandys and Caspians
Leema Acoustic (for obvious reason)
Midrange Yamahas
Audio Analogue.
Thank you 😊
Sir Tarun, wonderful review again. Great great channel!
Thank you kindly 😊👍
great review I love monitor audio speakers. still think the bronze B2, (not bx2 or br2 although these are great) are the greatest value for money speakers ever made. just a look at the quality of crossover components shows this companies refusal to compromise on sound quality, even in budget ranges.Keep up the great work, reviewing affordable quality products is very helpful to the future of our obsession.😊
I owned BX2s which I liked with vinyl but not with my cds

Thanks Tarun, another terrific review. I'd love to see you review something from Roksan, the reviews of this brand are fairly thin on the ground. Cheers.
Thank you. Watch this space 😉
Piotr
Thank you 😊
I am looking at these to replace an old set of B&W 600 series bookshelves. The amp they will be mated to, is the Rotel A11 Tribute, I have yet to listen to them but I know that from what I have heard, they will be a match made in heaven. I don't want to generalize, but I have never had in issue mating Rotel to any British gear.
Cool 😎 I hope it goes well 😊
Pulled the trigger on the oak black Silver 50 g7's.
Cool 😎 please let know how you get on 😊
Another excellent and informative review Tarun which characterises this channel.
Thank you David. That is great 😊👍
I tried a MA Silver 50 6th Ed in my system and concur regarding clarity, offering a good combination of detail and resolution for its size.
Thank you for sharing your experiences 😊
As usual, grreat review Tarun. Found the review informative and insightful. Would like to see you review the newly released Neat Acoustics Mystique and/or the Elite speaker, which were shown at Munich 2023.
Thank you SS. Watch this space 👍
Even though I have no interest in this speaker, I still enjoy watching your videos.
That is much appreciated 😊👍
Hi Tarun,
These are on my audition list.
Al
Thank you Alan 😊
Thanks for the interesting review Tarun. I’ve often wondered about this brand of speakers. I would love you to review some of the more recent releases of the smaller bookshelf speakers from Proac or Harbeth or Spendor.
Thank you 😊
RX6's were my first proper speakers. They get used only occasionally and take up loads of room but they sound epic, and I'll never get move them on. Monitor Audio just do things right and give proper value for money. Have also heard the Gold 100's... i've never since heard such tonal correctness with absolute clarity at high volumes.
Thank you for sharing your experiences 😊
Thank you Derek. I appreciate the suggestions and the support 😊👍
Thank you Lee. Great to learn about your experiences 😊👍
Thank you Gary. Very much appreciated. I would like to get the M10s in at some point 😊👍
Excellent review. Yet again!
Thank you Larry. Very kind 😊👍

Thank you my friend. It is great to get feedback like that and very much appreciated 😊👍
These ... in all white.. look REALLY great. ( Right up next to the KEF R3 design)

As always thorough review. If you can a review of the Wharfedale Dovedales would be very interesting. Thank you.

Tarun I am so impressed that your reviews contain comparisons, but what I would like to see is: MA silver 50 vs MA silver 100. What the bigger brother does better and what is missing, or what is a tradeoff for being bigger of the same breed.
Thx. I hope to review the Silver 100 😊
Great review! I'd love to see a review of the peachtree GaN 1 in the second half of the year

Thank you 😊
My fave speakers from a long list of similarly priced, including the now iconic KEF LS50 meta. That's how great they are (or at least I think they are).
That is great 😊
Hi Simon, thanks a lot for the detailed review.
I'm tempted to get one pair - can you please share which are the wonderful stands we saw in the video?
Best wishes
Thank you. They are Target R4 stands 😊
Thank you kindly Albert. I like Auralic streamers and Denafrips DACs. I guess you probably already knew that 😊👍
I have them and absolutely ADORE them!
Cool 😎
Thank you Richard 😊
Another great review sir. Would love for you to review the Mo-Fi speakers if possible. Thanks.
Thank you 👍
Great review and as always really value your opinion.
Thank you Isn. That is great 👍
Nice review.
Thank you John. Much appreciated. They are on my radar 😊👍
My monitor audio are floorstanders. Always liked them but the metal dome tweeter is a bit sharp. I have some felt material over them to cut back some of their output. My next speakers will likely be soft dome tweeters I think.
Thank you for sharing. MA speakers of the past did have a reputation to be bright 😊
Love your reviews Tarun! I m very interested how more classic concepts like the Falcon Acoustics
IMF100 Loudspeaker Kit looks today in comparison with your favorite speakers like ATL, Elacs, Buchards ...
Thank you 👍
Just an idea for a future review...any chance of you trying the Lyngdorf TDAI 1120? It's been around a while, but is a super interesting piece of kit and would be interesting to hear your take on it. Apart from Room Perfect it also has real subwoofer integration, by real I mean it has a high pass for the mains which outside of AV equipment is quite the rarity.
Thank you. It is on my radar 👍
Thank you. I appreciate the suggestions. I will try to get the R300i in for review 👍
Great review thanks. I’m in the market for a smaller stand mount for a smallish room, speakers will be placed close to the rear wall and 1.5m apart. These appear to fit the bill. Would be good to get a comparison with the Dali Opticon 1 Mk 2.
@@paulsimcock7042 thank you 😊
Great review and now I'm set on buying these little beauties! 😊
@@aminostruth3494 thank you. That is great 👍
Regarding your question "what should I review (after the Munich 2023 High End show)":
One of my positive surprises at Munich 2023 were the JBL L100 Mark IIs.
Big speakers, big sound, not outrageous price. Maybe have a listen? Cheers!
Thank you 😊
I have a pair of these paired up with a Cyrus amplifier and I adore them.
Cool 😎
Great review Tarun. Interesting you didn't address the willsenton r8. I would like to see how they would work with that amp. As always, great pleasure to check in on your videos on the Friday commute.
Thank you. I try it with the R8 if I have time 😊
Great review as always, would like to see you review the GR-Research X-LS Encore bookshelf speakers.
Thank you 😊
Excellent review. Good comparison monitors too.
Thank you my friend 😊👍
2:55 Technically that cutaway is for the RDT "cone" which is an aluminium - nomex honeycomb - carbon fibre sandwich.
Thank you for sharing 😊
Another great review!. Would be great if you could get hold of the MA Gold series or above where the MPD ribbon tweeters start from. Thoughts and matching amps.
Thank you 👍
It's not the driver type that determines if a tweeter is bright. It's the crossover voicing. If the tweeter is voiced hotter than the woofer, then it's going to sound bright, even if it's a silk dome.
True but the driver imparts a tonal characteristic too 😊
Hi Tarun, welcome to my wonderful world of MA.
Thanks Mark. I thought you might like this one. I curious to find out what the Silver 100s are about. See you at Cranage 😉👍
I think it's called "Contempt before investigation" Guilty me! I had a pair of JBL 1600 speakers with a metal dome that looks like a horn. Very nice. Make me wonder about the Silver 100. Nice job.
I am keen to listen to the Silver 100s 😊
Hi Tarun, Another trusted review and I really enjoyed it as always, I'd love you to do a review on the Silver 100s if you could further down the track
Thank you James. I am keen to do that 👍
Thank you for another quality vid!
This one was on my shortlist as well, but eventually I went with KEF R3... 😂
Thank you. Enjoy the R3s 👍
Would be interesting to compare these Monitor Audios against the 1250 pound Dynaudio Evoke 10's I just bought for my study. The latter have a rich midrange, reasonable bass depth but also treble refinement.
Thank you 😊
For what it's worth I have m a floorspeakers & I'm building a pair of standmounts from revolver blown tweets with hoping this works well "outboard" m a ccam tweeters, but I think Dynaudio are on another level of nicety these m a's couldn't complete in the same playground as the evoke or emit 10's but that is only from my own experience as hifi synergy is the blackest of the black arts to try & perform IMHO & can rarely be pinned to one aspect of a component/s topology or connectivity to other component/'s, but if i had the spare bread I would try to audition both the evoke & emit in my listening environment for myself
I did a comparison between the MA Silver 8s and other speakers brands similar priced or much higher. The Silvers 8s easily beat all other brands in the showroom I compared them to. They like Elac and GoldenEar are exceptional value for Money.
Cool 😎 thank you for sharing 😊
Thanks for the review. I'm thinking about getting the Silver 50s and an amp to replace my desktop speakers. I know I'm late to the party, as this video was done over a year ago, but have you had any interest in reviewing one of the variants of the Axxess Forte (1, 2, or 3) from Audio Group Denmark. I'd be interested in hearing what you think of them. I'm not thinking of the Forte for the Silvers, but thinking about it. Keep up the great work. 👍🏽
@@mkcraghead thank you kindly. The Axxess Forte 1 is on my radar 😊👍
MY first speakers ever were the Silver 100s and boy oh boy oculd these things sing The Silver 100s are from my unprofesional point of view the top pound for pound speakers for the $$ Great review like always BTW
Thank you my friend 🙂👍
Thanks! Glad these were outstanding as I do admire them!
Cool 😎
I have 4 audio systems, and one is the monitor audio 100 7g + marantz pm6007 for my telly. Boy, am I happy.
Cool 😎
Thank you for sharing 😊
I'd like to see you get your chops around Wharfdale. They seem to be crazy value for money right now.
I hope to do that 😊
Bought these on strength of your review, really pleased matched to a Marantz HD -AMP1. Good in my small room.
Great video, thanks.
I've had the same prejudice as you since buying some Mission metal dome tweeters in the 90's, ouch! maybe it's time to move on.
Keep up the good work, it's very much appreciated.
Thank you kindly Dale 😊👍
Great review again . Funnily
Enough I had a pair of well reviewed monitor audios around 15 years ago and did indeed think they sounded bright ! Re munich show it would be great if you can pull some strings and review the meridian dsp9 loudspeakers. !
Thank you Mr S 😊
Had Silver 2. Liked them a lot with Hegel H95! Also tried new Silver 100 7G, they perform much better. For me the best option here is Silver 100, but if the room big enough, mine not.
Thank you for sharing 😊
Hello Tarun, I hope you're doing well. Do you have any experience with the MA Bronze lineup, if yes how does the bronze 50, 100 sound compared to the silver 50, is there a significant difference between the two lineup because the silver 50 here is close to 2x expensive than bronze 50 and I want to save money unless there's a significant sound quality difference, thanks in advance.
@ArpanDas I have heard them at dealers but would need to get them home to see how close to the Silvers they get 😊
Excellent review. Could you do a review of the neat iotas. I would like to hear a comparison of them with meneuet se and psb imagine minis.
Thank you. I appreciate the suggestion 😊
