This commencement speech was a pitch for the university and a pat on the back for Mitch Daniels and the current school administration. Very little was said concerning the graduating class other than to whom they should genuflect for frozen tuition. And, of course, no mention was made of the cost of those budget cuts to the university in order to keep tuition frozen. I chuckled when he told graduates that the hard way was the Boiler way. I thought, even when the hard way is not the best way? So, my apologies to the graduating class of 2024. You have had to overcome some extremely difficult challenges and deep disappointments to get to this point and we, your parents and grandparents, are supremely proud of you.
