I've had the DBD for about 2 months now. I agree with your assessment of this paddle. There is a little adjustment to the feel type shots, but once you do adjust I feel I have very good control.
Just got one after changing from a joola Hyperion. Besides getting used to less power. The lighter weight gives me great control on dinks and cleaner shots
Truly an excellent paddle. Unfortunately my first one delaminated (it was manufactured in December, so I'm assuming the new ones will not suffer the same fate.) Waiting on my replacement now. Going back to my old CRBN1 16mm has been rough. Once you get used to the putaway power of the thermoformed paddle it is painful to go back.
Another fantastic review, Chris! Even with a bunch of new thermoformed paddles to test, I still can’t put down my Black Diamond (the raw fiberglass model)
Recently bought both the DBD and the 16mm Flash and both are amazing they play virtually the exact same. Waiting for Chris's Vatic Pro review since those are $40 less right now.
I have hit them both. So far they don't appear identical. They are however quite close. I've found the Vatic to feel less stable and perhaps a little more springy, so I prefer the DBD. However, more in-depth testing may change my opinion. I've talked to Will about it as well and we've both noted similar findings.
I got one about six weeks ago. Loved it. Got another a couple weeks later because I like two and the face texture felt more substantial. The first one was the white on black paddle and the second was the cherry face paddle. Strange. May not make a difference in my game but it is in my head.
Chris, Any plans to review the DBD 14mm in the near term? Not sure which I should order. I have the Legacy Pro 16mm and the CRBN 1x 14mm. Want to try the Six Zero DBD.
Six Zero lists the handle length as 5.5", but the handle felt too short to me, especially for my two-handed backhand. I feel like your 5.3" description was more accurate. I had to measure to the tippy top of the overgrip tape to get 5.5". Do you feel paddle manufacturers are measuring grip lengths accurately? Are they including the unwrapped neck in their measurements sometimes? What are your preferred characteristics for a paddle? Do you prefer stiff over plush or muted? Do you prefer poppy over feeling the paddle pocketing the ball (longer dwell time)? Do/can you generate enough power yourself, or do you like/rely on the paddle's pop to help you? Did you like the 14mm DBD?
I did agree with you on the shortness of the handle piece. I took the handle form piece off an old paddle and configured it to attach to the top of their piece. This extended my handle by a 1/2 inch which made the paddle feel so much more comfortable and play so much better(note- it was already my favorite now there is no question to how good this paddle is). So if anyone from six zero sees this please extend the handle form.
What is your thought on the 14mm compared to the 16mm for the double black diamond paddle. I ordered the 16 but i am considering canceling the 16 and going for the 14mm.
@@PickleballStudio I bought the 14mm and have let people use it compared to my Legacy Pro and the Ronbus 1.16. Not a single person liked the 14mm version and regretting that I bought it.
Just ordered one with your code! Looking forward to checking it out. I currently have the Legacy Pro, which was your last favorite. Curious how you would compare the two head to head other than you mentioned the Legacy has a bit more power. Do you feel the double black diamond has a better sweet spot than the Legacy? I too had a hard adjustment with the Legacy in the short game. Got it dialed in now, but still hard to put too much spin on the dinks without it transferring power and going too high.
Thanks for review. Also, good on you for pointing out the issue with the handle. My hands aren't huge, but it bothered me, especially since the edge guard terminates so low. Hopefully since you mentioned it, it will get addressed

Specifically, much less power imo than the Pulsar. I know you say there’s break in. Should I stick with it (only used 3 times) and keep beating it in, or get another pulsar; or something like the pulsar but with some sort of improvement.
I use a CRBN 2x and love it. I just tried the 6.0 DBD today and found that the ball was hard to feel on soft shots. The feedback from the paddle didn't allow me to really get a gauge on how hard to hit my dinks. It felt fine on 3rds and returns. What are your thoughts on this vs the CRBN 2x?
@@AndrewHemauer Not really. My original CRBN 2x delaminated, so I was at a point where a paddle switch made sense. However, CRBN stood by their warranty and replaced my paddle for free and I couldn’t be happier.

The 16mm Vatic Pro Flash definitely plays a lot different for me. Honestly it plays the softest of all the thermoformed paddles I have used so far (Predelamination). I haven't. I've talked to a few people who have hit it though. Seems to not be quite as good as paddles from Vatic, Legacy, 6.0, CRBN, etc. For the price it sounds decent though. Just don't expect as much power or spin.
Got a recent production run of the Six Zero DBD 16mm - absolutely love it. Sweetspot is HUGE, control feels like aimbot for dinking/resets, and power is great from the baseline for me -- though I did note my put away shots from the kitchen felt slightly muted. That said, the tradeoff is worth it and even in my 1st play session with it I'm confident I'm going to embrace it for the foreseeable future.
Have you had a chance to try the Spartus Gladius Paddle? If so, what do you think of it? It's specs are very similar to the Double Black Diamond. Thx bro, I'm a new sub, love your vids so far.
Used the double black diamond after using nothing but the legacy pro(the last batch of the original model) for the last 3 months and when I went to the double black diamond it actually felt like cheating how easy the control was
I bought mine Black Friday 2023 and have been so disappointed . From day one to the present, I just feel like the so called "sweet spot" is just dead. Unlike my Engage Pursuit 6.0 EX, there just is no pop when you hit dead on center paddle. Resets and drops are decent and dinks are easier with the longer handle but drives just feel like well - nothing. In fact, I and my fellow players have noted that my serves are lacking pace relative to the Pursuit paddle. Honestly, the inexpensive Selkirk Latitude that I started my pickleball journey with three years ago feels much more lively and with greater "touch". I truly am disappointed because I felt like this would be my next generation paddle and allow me to improve my two handed backhand but it's not going to happen and this paddle is going bye bye.
What's the deal w the grip? Is that a feature or something you added?

These paddles and their de-lamination seems to be something we should be concerned with. Hope these companies can Stand behind their products.
Dude these companies should be paying you a ton more than they are!!!
did anyone add lead tape to this paddle??
Ordered the double black diamond April 10 it's now May 10 still nothing
It has been on back order since my review. I believe the website mentioned that.
How does the DBD compare to the CX14 Ultimate in the Power and Spin area?
Better spin and power on the DBD IMO.
which 6 zero dbd is better in ur opinion control or power ?
what thermoformed paddle plays like the vision from Joola?
@thepickleballstudio How does this paddle compare to a Vatic Flash 16mm?
The Six Zero website says these DBD paddles have a 5.5 inch handle, not 5.3.
It changed because they started wrapping the handles higher than when I reviewed it.
What web site that i can order this paddle from, and what is the discount code?
It’s not available till late May only pre orders 😢
Have you seen/tested the A11N Zenith C7? Toray T700 thermoformed paddle at a ridiculous
I haven't. I've talked to a few people who have hit it though. Seems to not be quite as good as paddles from Vatic, Legacy, 6.0, CRBN, etc. For the price it sounds decent though. Just don't expect as much power or spin.
Pls review paddles for rec players or 3.0 players
6.0 site indicated a two month wait for paddles (Legacygate 2.0)?
This review certainly isn’t going to help 😬
@The Pickleball Studio 😂 oh well but thanks, always something to look forward to, hopefully, as they stated, mid May 😃👍👍
whats the warranty and how is the customer service support?
Warranty is 6 months. Customer service from what I can tell is good. He’s very active in my Discord
do you add any lead weight to your DBB? if so, how much?
0.1oz on each side of the bottom corners.
Are you still using the 16mm or have you switched to the 14?
16
I have the Joola CFS.Any difference?
Very different. Better spin spin and power on the DBD
HANDSGOFAST! 💨
Hey what size did you settle with the 14 or 16?
Also where did you add the weight?
You need to make a video on HESACORE!
Have you had a chance to try the Spartus Gladius Paddle? If so, what do you think of it? It's specs are very similar to the Double Black Diamond. Thx bro, I'm a new sub, love your vids so far.
They definitely don’t play similar. Spartus is a gen 1 raw carbon
@@PickleballStudio In what ways? I'm new to the carbon paddle thing. Thx
@@mpeezy358 Spartus is much softer, not thermoformed, different shape, etc.
Used the double black diamond after using nothing but the legacy pro(the last batch of the original model) for the last 3 months and when I went to the double black diamond it actually felt like cheating how easy the control was
Does the Black Diamond have more power than the Double Black Diamond? Nobody ever rates the black diamond?
After using it for a month have you noticed a significant drop in spin?
I wouldn't say I've noticed a significant drop. I do imagine there has been a drop though. I should run it through a retest and see how it does.
@PickleballStudio did you ever get a chance to retest the rpms? I'm curious about this as well. Thanks for all that you do.
