Regarding the Source Tactical bladders; I've been using one for a few years now, and they are great. Never gets gross (sometimes I don't empty them right away and they sit for a week), durable but light, great features and I love the quick release hose, mouthpiece, etc. Also, and probably most importantly; I had an issue with my mouthpiece initially where it was a little leaky. I contacted Source, and no questions asked, they shipped me a new mouthpiece, for free, from Israel (they are an Israeli company)! I also installed a Sawyer Mini filter inline in the hose for my Source water bladder and it's worked amazingly for the last couple of years. Easy to do, no leaking at all and very solid. Highly recommend doing that.
For a day bag, those Kuju packs are probably fine, but if it were a SHTF bag, or but out, etc., I'd go with the Starbucks VIA packs. From a purely space savings p.o.v., the via's look to be about half the size of the Kuju packs.

GT, that's a lot of gear for a day hike but seems to be flexible enough for 1-2 nights of unplanned event. Recommend: 1.A small tube of CLP to maintain your CCW and other gear that needs Cleaning, Lubricating & Protecting. 2.A weatherproofed Map of your Area and Trails you visit. 3.A Ranger Roll. 4.Foot Powder to ease the miles.
Your tourniquet and IFAK should be on outside of pack, not literally on the bottom and hardest place to get to. If not on outside, put it on top. When you need a tourniquet you need it NOW.
Awesome loadout. Can you please do a video loadout if hiking with kids? I have 2 small kids. I tend to overpack and end up with a really heavy pack with the thought of, "what if" they need this and that. Thanks for doing the videos you do.
Vue Her I have young ones as well and have taken them out several times. My boys are now old enough to carry small packs so that helps. The staples I take regardless of weather, length, etc are socks, snacks, and water. Beyond that and I can see the pack racking up the weight. We have a kids Camelbak that can hold those items for one of them at least. I also have a small compass with whistle that one of them carries. Gives them something to do and good to teach them how to use it along the way. Keep getting them out there though. It’s always a good time with them.
Same load out, but with extra layers for the littles and more food. More bivy's - make them carry tiny REI packs with their own water bottles and snacks at least (water is heavy and kids are stronger than you think). BTW, I'm a preschool teacher and we go on mile long walks and the 4-5 year olds carry their own water bottles all the way. I also carry an Aquatarp 10x10 - at 1 lb, it's peace of mind. If I don't carry that, I carry the even lighter (but smaller) Coalcracker Bushcraft TZero - it's 6 ounces and has its own tie down lines, 1 minute set up.
You pack more for a day than the thruhikers I've seen here. I know, I'm jealous of all the nice gear. I really like the Mistery Ranch packs. Haven't seen them in Canada.
Tip. Tape the lid of your water tablets around the rim with electrical tape. They draw moisture and spoil easy. Have a way to boil water too. Besides fuel and a rubber teapot. Gadgets break.
I have this little like metal spice container that I keep instant coffee or coffee crystals in and I can get about 4 strong cups of coffee or 5 medium strong cups of coffee. Its cheap too.

Good video. On the SOURCE water pack there are actually 3 ways to fill with water if you buy the quick fill bottle attachment that has the quick disconnect. I love mine, just sayin. Keep up the good stuff man.
I totally know what you mean about your scree pack! I have owned numerous packs over the years including a few Mystery Ranch packs. They make some awesome packs! I used to have the bighorn which was a trizip pack of theirs that is now discontinued. Great pack though and it had the futura harness aswell. Then i used their bridge pack another great pack, it had the same compression straps as yours. But my favorite pack right now is the Camelbak Tri-zip!! Love that pack! It was a collaboration Camelbak did with Mystery Ranch in 2011 as part of their maximum gear line they made the triz-zip and smaller linchpin packs. At 37 liters the tri-zip is a great size! I can day hike with it and do overnights. Super comfortable! Forms to your back and has the removable waistbelt. Their Futura harness is the easiest torso adjustment i have come across with out sacrificing comfort and rigidity! It also has plenty of molle webbing for addition pouches. I do like the daisy chain webbing too though. It came with the mil-spec Antidote bladder. Your source bladder is probably a whisker better though. I have thought about trying it. If you like the scree check out camelbaks new spartan and bfm packs their 2019 versions they too have the futura harness. Thanks for sharing man! Hike on!!
I never understood the difficulty people believe exists in getting a good cup of coffee in the woods... put a coffee filter into a cup, add grounds to filter, pour in boiling water. Let sit until your desired strength is achieved. Remove the filter/used grounds from cup and throw in fire.
Waterproof jacket and trousers plus puffy hooded jacket and tarp every time in case of being benighted or delayed. Just saying. Great videos keep them coming
I know I'm a year or two late but think about pulling the haul loop through the tube hole to hang your bladder. I just ordered the new model last night. I had the older model a few years ago.
My water bladder of choice is the Mazama designs Axe water bladder. It's under $30 for a 3 liter and it has a rigid handle running the length of the bladder do you don't have to worry about it sagging as you drink

Nice video and good load-out. Good to see another guy using a fanny pack. They are great! I carry survival gear in there since firearms are illegal to carry here. My day pack is 35 liters, way less sophisticated, very rugged and basic and probably more heavy, but cheap and it fits me good and that what counts. I always carry a loud whistle around my neck and have one or a few extra in my pocket and/or gear. What I did kinda miss is a compass but most likely that will be in your 'survival items kit'.

I have noticed that in the military the general rule seems to be to have it on the left when right handed, and on the right when left handed

No map or GPS? You carry several items in case you get lost but no navigation aids (compass isn't useful without a map, you need to know where you are already to use a compass).
By all means invest in a medical kit but also invest in the training in how to use it. Particularly as you mention an tourniquet which if used incorrectly can lead to follow up issues and limb loss. Nice video and I'll have to give those coffees a shot they look good.
I had a good knife like that with me at all times when I lived in Alaska just in case. Now that I live in Albany, NY I only have to carry a small knife just in case someone from Jersey tries to jump me.

Great video yet again! If you haven’t checked out the geigerrig bladders you should give them a test. I’ve used about 4 over the years including source and the geigerrig is by far my favorite.

Thru hikers who pack less are just accidents waiting to happen IMHO. Crazy when they don't even bring a belt knife. The woods are unforgiving.

My day pack is only 4-lbs. and 17L, lol.
I used to carry my Sig 226, but it made my butt look waaay to big. I changed out to a glock 19, less weight more compact. Much better for a day hike.

It looks like there is a loop near the top to hang a camel back etc. just add your own hook to that loop for your setup, maybe?

Be careful with the SOL Bivy! In freezing temps you will get soaking wet with your own perspiration if you overnight in it. Great video though.
