Same here it’s become my favorite heritage railroad I’ve ridden on, and that’s over Strasbourg or Disneyland or Grand Canyon. I’d recommend it to anyone
Wish more of the narrow gauge lines were still there. One of these days will have to get back there to ride again on the D&S and the Toltec. Thanks for sharing the memories!
On this trip we drive out to Navajo reservoir about 60 miles from Durango and along a trail was an old Rio Grande watertower and bridge still standing but with no tracks nearby. It completely surprised me how vast the narrow gauge network spread out
They plan on using them during warmer seasons to prevent fires starting from steam locomotive cinders (the cause of the 2018 fire). What happened was many foamers overreacted thinking the diesels were replacing steam for good
Love this train even more!!!!!!!!!! Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love this train. Rode it some years back.

@@richardstrainsandmore Yes, it was quite huge, covering large areas of both Colorado and New Mexico! Have an incredible evening! T4
Great video! These locomotives must have already been converted to oil. I didn't see coal mounds in the tenders.
These 2 locomotives have indeed been converted to oil yet still spewed out plenty of cinders and had an odd odor that smelled like fireworks
This is where eric works now right?
that scenery.... not many places like that left in our world... almost everywhere is concrete now
He indeed works here now and can be seen around 11:42. The ride is truly breathtaking and definitely worth the price if you get the chance
Nice Video
That SP6 chime sounded great I wonder why they changed the spot where they hookup the helper locomotive
I’m not sure, perhaps to avoid over loading the first trestle bridge? Where did they used to hookup?
@@richardstrainsandmore they used to hook up at hermosa
@@evanburt2766 only when sp 18 was there was in hermosa and the k-36 and 28 dont need water top offs
Finally the white pass diesel are here
They’ve been in operation at D&S beginning this summer much to the dismay of foamers
@@richardstrainsandmore well they are probability mad at D&S for having them but hey they need more engine
