I am so glad you are the UA-camr that got an Ocean sport, been watching your content on Fisker since we ordered ours ages ago. Also annoyed that our ocean one is still sitting there with 1.11, so much for us getting priority. Or a ChargePoint card. Or a $70,000 vehicle in the year 2024 that has radar cruise. JK, love our future Nissan product. (Edited “Contant” -> content. My b)
Spot on. Basically having the same experience as you with my ocean one. Excited as hell for 2.0 though. Keep telling all my friends this car has fantastic bones but sh*t software. And customer service; different conversation though. All in all I’m cautiously hopeful. Keep up the fantastic work Adam.
@@ulizes80 everyone in the family who has extensive seat time in our model X and the ocean agrees, the ocean is a much quieter, more comfortable ride and the build quality is noticeably better than the 6 figure car with wings. The physical things that cannot be fixed over the air are incredibly solid. Software will make or break the car, whether it’s Nissan, magna, or Fisker who ships the updates out.
Great seeing you and your family again this weekend! Love seeing you out of your attic doing videos of your Sport. Energy/Standby Time seems to be the only visible v2.0 addition that we don’t have in our FOOs.
Hi Adam. Totally appreciate these videos you do for the community, and putting expectations in the proper perspective. I'm struggling trying to recalibrate my expectations for the software maturity. I've been driving a 2017 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid for 75,000 miles, and I have not had one single software glitch, not one unexplained (undeserved) warning or alarm. That car has pretty much all the same safety features and other electronic features that the Ocean Extreme/One will have (except solar roof, rotating screen, retractable rear windows, and plug-in charging). All the features were fully functional the moment I bought the new car in 2017 and drove it off the lot. Never ever needed an OTA software update, though I did allow one to happen just to update the navigation maps, and it went flawlessly. My amateur opinion is that Fisker tried to institute TOO MANY electronic touchscreen controls for things, which made the overall system more complex than necessary. Motorized ventilation vents, for example. Unnecessary and more aggravating to control. Multiple REGEN settings in the Fisker, whereas the RAV4 Hybrid defaults to one level of REGEN (low) and it's perfectly fine. You have many more computer chips each trying to talk to each other, with resultant timing issues. So it's been frustrating going from that experience to the Fisker Ocean. I will say, as you and most others have noted, that the Fisker Ocean physically drives like a dream. The power, handling, suspension, comfort. I've never driven a car that FELT better. And all of that counts for a lot.
@@nelsonmira4884 - You might be surprised how advanced the 2017 RAV4 Hybrid was. The only things "more advanced" in the Fisker are the solar roof (well, not yet, because it's not operational); retractable rear and doggie windows, rotating screen (big whoop), and plug-in charging (though the RAV4 ICE engine does do the charging, so the car has similar charging infrastructure). The only extra safety or ADAS feature would be lane centering. There is a huge laundry list of safety features and ADAS features common to both vehicles. So, yes, I can compare.
Great points and good comparison: The RAV4 hybrid is a great example of a mature software/hardware combination that has been nearly unchanged for over a decade. Adaptive cruise was early 90s. The hybrid battery is nickel-metal hydride, which was implemented in the late 80s. It’s tried and true. This is also why Toyota doesn’t really want to go full electric quickly. Thank you for your feedback, and for sharing your experience, Cheers!
People forget tesla had all kinds of problems and bugs when they launched... people invested in fisker thinking it will be the next tesla immediately thats not how things work in reality... to put it in perspective tesla was founded in 2003 and only in 2020 they had their first profit year...fisker is a new company with vision be patient people
The main difference is that Fisker has zero control on the actual product and the manufacturing process. Whereas Tesla does. Tesla can quickly make changes and find continuous efficiencies and improvements quickly without much delay. Working with a designer is an absolute nightmare, as they are only worried about features, not how much value the feature actually brings and how it looks. Yes you have a financially healthy product, but warranty claims will kill it pretty quick. Magna doesn't care, because they keep delivering within specifications and SLAs. And the moment you're not paying their bills. You're out.
Thank you for being a vanguard in support of software updates. We can all thank you for being such a watch dog in terms of reporting gaps and pitfalls in the software. Kudos to you!!
Well done Adam. I am still waiting for my update for my Ultra! I am having warning issues now for no regeneration braking and no front collision warning. Ugh.
In your previous video i asked if the company goes bankrupt how will the software be supported. I know this is a hypothetical question but still would like to know if there is a way where we can understand this scenario. Because this car works based in software. What is the requirements for them to support if that happens
They’ve still not brought back Auto dark/light mode based on headlights being on/off respectively then 🤦♂️ I find it so odd that they removed that in 1.10+
They should have a bug\error form built into the Fisker OS where you can submit issues with the ability to do screen shots (if necessary) to help the devops team fix issues. Having you call\email in issues is not always the best way of fixing issues (time consuming). Not sure why Fisker did not go with a system like the full version of Android Auto or Apple CP (when available) as the main system (like Volvo). It is a mature system which would probably reduce your devops overhead and includes prebuilt apps (Maps, Spotify, etc) ...
Hello Adam, informative video. I am driving an Extreme and have version ICC390039-APK-1.1.37, do you know what that is? I do not have the area but I do have with 4 tabs/areas including consumption in each. Is it maybe 1.11 1/2 or an older one?
This is at least 1.11. The Technician I spoke with referred to it as 1.13. So all of the systems are running at least 1.11, and the ICC is 39, which is what my vehicle was delivered with. I hope this helps you. Thanks for your question, Cheers!
I received the first part of 2.0 about a week ago. However, the vehicle did not complete the update. I only saw update complete flash briefly when I got in the car after apparent installation. Well it did not install and confirmed I'm still on 1.11. I've request a re push of the 2.0 update and waiting for it at the moment.
I have Ocean Extreme with 1.11 version of the software. I have experienced many small issues. My biggest concern is that the battery loses it's charge much faster than I have driven it. The second biggest concern is the key FOB. I put the key FOB on the driver side door just to open the car. Are these two issues resolved with 2.0?
Great video Adam. If you pass a radar speed limit sign, could please check if the Ocean has the typical 3mph slower speedometer discrepancy? Or, is it dead on. Thank you
Which is also why I always switch the audio alarm for speeding off when starting - looking foward to profiles that allows that as permanent feature. Actually that is the only real annoyance I have with the car.
@@Aslash304 got it this past week and the difference in the car is amazing. Hill hold works (even on 7 degree hills facing upwards AND downwards), Earth mode is peppier and the Solar Sky energy meter is a nice touch. If they survive long enough to send us 3.0, it will be a truly fun car.
Great question: Earth mode will get you the most range. Long trips are probably the best times to use the most efficient modes. Efficiency around town doesn’t affect your overall commute time if you don’t need to charge on your trip. Thanks for your comment, Cheers!
Received an Ocean One with the exact software version number on it. But the release notes only reflect 1.10 and also say not to trust the version number in the software. Confusing. Not sure how exactly to tell what's what, but I've had minimal issues since delivery on 3/1
The easiest way to tell what your software is, is to create a ticket through the service portion of the Fisker app, and then send that ticket number to a technician. They will look up your ocean, and be able to tell you exactly what version you have. Hope you enjoy your vehicle. Thanks for your comment, Cheers!

But this is not the vehicle for that. Thanks for your comment, Cheers!

I fundamentally don't like the idea of paying more to unlock features that already physically exist in an EV; whether it be range, charging, music, or turning a screen around or a 360 degree camera. And I warn manufacturers like Fisker to trust me on this, that will not be a winning customer experience, and companies that don't do that will get better reviews and more happy customers. Would I ever buy a car that you had to pay to unlock features that were physically already built into the car? probably not
I agree with your sentiment. However, this leaves out Tesla, Rivian, Fisker, BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, Toyota, Subaru, Stellantis, GM, and Ford as far as car shopping. Those are the ones with pay to unlock features that I can think of. Thanks for your comment, Cheers!
