I love your willingness to indulge in boredom and monotony. They're genuinely underrated and underappreciated experiences.
You should make a second option to just go over the abandon bridge if you don’t want to go over the things because it’s hard
I love how literally every single one of his tools is the sharpest thing on the planet. Every chisel, saw, and drill is perfect. I don't know if he just meticulously sharpens everything or just doesn't use them super hard.
I literally haven't sharpened them once after doing it initially when I get them. If you make sure they are only hitting what they are intended to hit (wood) they'll last a full season no problem.
Cedar is also the softest possible wood to work with. Oak would not make those tools look so sharp
Your commitment to this channel is so admirable. You’re a huge inspiration man. Not only the hard physical labor you put into it but the video editing too?? You’re a beast man.
YES! I knew this kinda thing would come back!! Also why does this guy not have like 1 mil subs?
@@BackyardTrailBuilds saving this reply for when you hit 1 million for ya bud
Siiiccckkkk! Can’t wait for another season of trail builds!
Mate. You have skills that literally noone your age has. And then you make them into such professional videos that are almost soothing to watch! I love watching your build videos.
My four and six year old love watching your videos with me each time they come out. This has been my favorite. So many beautiful lessons for them about creating with their hands, a love for aesthetics, hard work, finding joy in the journey, making mistakes, laughing, challenging yourself etc. You really need someone to pick you up for a tv show. ❤️
WOW... thats an extremely nice compliment. Very much appreciate it when people enjoy the whole picture Im trying to paint! Thank you thank you thank you!!!
Awesome hand building...very cool
Content is up here
Get this guy to one mil he deserves it like content is up
I have seen the wooden pin technique used in buildings I once worked in. One was a old woolen mill on the Blackstone River, another, a commercial building in Worcester, Massachusetts. This woodworking technique put things together that last centuries of hard work.
Your learning of these skills can provide not only a nice lifestyle but will be valuable in a village environment.
So cool to see the evolution of this channel so far! Keen to see how this trail turns out, hopefully lots more cool wooden features to come!!
This is so sick can’t wait for the rest of the trail!!
I'd say option 2. It would add to the length of the trail because of the flow features. They are both amazing ideas, but I think you should start with option 2 and possibly add option 1 a little ways down the trail.
I'm so glad I get to be a part in one of these. I'm building a trail of my own and like the inspiration.
Your videos are so awesome keep the good work up
EPIC WORK DUDE
I love the fact that you don’t use power tools and whatever you build comes out PERFECT you deserve 10millon subs!!
I could just feel the amount of joy you had making this. Especially with the new added challenges. Cant wait to see whats next! 😁
Learning new building techniques definitely gets me aaaaalllll hyped up haha
Dude, I'm so happy whenever you post a video. It's awesome to see you do stuff without powertools, it shows that the grindy, long process isn't a bad choice, but is in fact quite therapeutic and beautiful.
Seth, I am beyond impressed with you level of craftsman ship only using these hand tools. I must also say the quality of you video has improved so much in the past month!! Keep it up!
Man I love this guy he is funny great content and I am now building trails of my own at the age of 13 it’s helped me alot
So hype for the new "subscriber"/primal trail can't wait to see the final product.
I was like Oh Yes Seth bikes hacks Uploaded then i saw the name ...EVEN BETTER YESSSS
Yes very cool
at first i was skeptical of "no metal" but after seeing all these joint designs this is awesome! i'm sold
That is some of the most amazing colored wood. Way to bring back some great skills and tools of old. And I vote option 1.
i remember when you were still at 10k last year when i first started watching you man. you’ve become an inspiration
The satisfaction you get from making everything by hand is what makes it so great. Very interesting and inspiring video once again.
I love how you are advancing trail building by going backwards with the tool technology. Having used some of these tools at various times I salute your discipline and commitment.
So glad the subscriber trail is back for a second season. This will be one on of the top mtb channels this year. No doubt!!!
I want to see the on off teeter totter come back farther down the trail. Last year i thought that would be cool but mess up the flow of the trail. Now this trail seems perfect for it!
You dog continues to look full of energy and joy
Ya ya Ya Seths building techniques are cool, but his dog can shred the trail like no other😜
So many of your building techniques are just genius!! However, since they lack the use of power tools they are truly a fight between work harder and work smarter!! I love all you videos and I have a lot of ideas for my 2 acres of pine forest in central Wisconsin. Now I just need the time to build.
True craftsman, nice use of traditional wood working techniques and tools..
Love this hand tool expedition! I'd just like to make one slight safety suggestion if I may... When you're hewing with your hatchet, stand with your right leg back away from the stump that way if your hatchet glances of your work piece it'll be more likely to catch the stump and less likely to meet your leg. Peter Follansbee has some pretty good videos with Roy Underhill that talk about hewing safely.
Can't wait to see the rest of this build!
The transition sounds to techy, I feel like the roll/pump track feature will give you that calm satisfaction of exitment and happiness after you hit the jump. Definitely the second option.
It's the fact that after that tough feature you just made in the vid I just feel right after that the pump track with a jump will make that alot more exciting
And btw, your wood working skills are so sick, like I enjoyed learning about this, please do more vids like this.
You have become a true craftsman. Love this channel.
This video is awesome. It’s crazy to see all the tools and different ways to joist wood together. Blows my mind. This is going to be a great series to watch
The amount of patience involved in this...Insane. Hand drilling the concrete blocks... I thought you'd be there for years lol. Nice work!
Wow all the hand work is fantastic
the clip of your puppers following you is my favorite
I like the new way your editing its awesome can't wait for the new trail to be finished
This is soooooo cool! Love the willingness to give some obscure tools and techniques a try, I've never even heard or seen any of these used before.
*Flashes back to spending summers on my uncle's farm and making random stuff from sun up to sun down.*
Man......I miss the simplicity of those days.
Until I fond your channel I honestly had no idea the Amish were into mountain biking too.
Awesome build, love the hand tools.
That thing looks sooo sick!!
Mad respect to doing it with your hands, that’s hard
I love these old tools and your dedication to working ecologically. Great channel, brilliant videos
That was such an incredible build. Those tools you used were amazing.
Ooh primal bike park! Now we got the subscriber trail, and now the primal trail! Can’t wait to see it!
Can’t wait for the rest of the trail
Great work! love how you are doing it without metal fasteners. its a cool way to spice up building!
10:18 I know what you do in your videos is really hard work but brother you are living a dream life! You get to build features completely with handtools and get paid to do it on your own land!
oh yeah man, keep doing what you're doing, your amazing! who else here agrees? let's get our man to 1 mill! woo!
(wow I definitely had too much caffeine this morning)
That’s a lot of work. Admirable for sure. Nice project.
Sick! Love those weird tools. Watching that blackthorn fall onto the concrete hurt my heart.
The craftsmanship is amazing.
Let’s go he’s back building keep up the hard work dude
This is the first video of yours I've seen and you doing it all with hand tools made me subscribe.
Let’s gooo he’s back
Mind blowing doing this without power or metal fasteners. Great work
5:17 I love your commentary about the tools you’re using! Fascinating! 🤘
I know after this video who to ask for help when i'm stuck with IKEA. Your woodworking skills is progressing so much this year, it is insane.
This series has officially inspired me to make my own bike park. Progress is going great and I might make a vid on it later!
Thanks for the inspiration and keep up the great work!
used to love watching Roy Underhill on PBS, so this is awesome to see you using hand tools! Keep up the good work!
The tools for this trail will be almost as interesting as the trail itself. Great video!
This is such an awesome idea for a series. When I saw the post about the no power tools build series I was sooo stoked!
When using wedges on the pins, champfor the holes on the outside for more grab especially if ur cutting them flush
I love how the quality, filming and music choice really makes this video truely amazing!
Lol, hand tools + concrete = see you tomorrow. Loving the hand tools and no mass produced fasteners. It's boring watch a bloke screw screws into timber so yay. Timber work ftw
I think a teeter totter drop would be a really cool feature! ( It probably wouldn't work in this case) but like when the teeter totter flattens out you would go off a drop
Dude that is the pinkest cedar I have ever seen. With your skills and the abundance of high quality wood, you could make a LOT of money building and selling furniture
Your land is a gold mine but wood
Glad to see your still building!! I love these videos!
LOVE the "ship shim" way of fastening the dowels -- beautiful craftsmanship, as always. also, i feel like you may or may not have a distinct preference in what comes next.... maybe not tho? lol
Timber framing and trail building, what more could you ask for. Freaking awesome dude!
Next level homie! Super cool!
That dog killing it
So much grit bro u got so much go couldnt do what you do and u make it look spectacular
Dude, you're killing it with the editing lately
For my skill level, or rather the lack of it, I'd vote #2. BUT, option #1 would be great to see built.
BTW, your handtool skills are getting great! Kudos on the added challenge!
you are absolutely killin it man, been here since the first sub trail and the content keeps getting better!
Such a sick build. Might be a good idea to cut off those exposed bits of steel rebar sticking out the concrete, could lead to a bad day if you fall on one. Could use a hacksaw if you want another challenge!! Keep up the good work x
I was going option 2, but then I think option 1 would be more interesting,
loving the wood work and tools, now I'm going back to see your shoes that BCPOV mentioned 🤓
Puttin in that work! Great job and great video Seth. Super cool.
Beautiful!
I think the techy feature would be super cool to try and see you ride. It sounds like a super interesting obstacle
Yayyy more trail builds!
I am all for option two, to calm down and refresh for the next feature!
Good job with the dedication! I always try to find a more efficient or faster way to do things, so I could not do it all by hand. I would run out of patience haha
YES! THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I ASKED FOR!
lets goooo cant wait to see what this season has in store
i love how your doing everything by hand to make a challange but im dying to use power tools and stuff on the trail
This is amazing especially how you built it all out of wood ☺
I love how you use all hand tools and no power tools congrats to you
I'm voting for the trails-type start solely because I want to see you attempt it xD
Nice man!
If you ever have to drill the bridge by hand again, try doing it from both sides. This was you won't have a blown out hole and there a lot more likely to be streight.
Lol I actually did this on the last hole! Didnt realise it would blow out so early on in the drilling process!
it's crazy how in some cases people get crazy in their houses because they are so small and in some cases the owner of the property suddenly finds an abandoned bridge
love the channel, an inspiration to all of us builders!
I'm enjoying your choice of footwear for this project 😄
Great work Seth :)
Love the vids BCpov keep up the good work :D
hahaha... you have no idea how long I've been waiting for this comment. If I could wear pajamas I would but the lack of utility just doesn't add up. So lonely slip-ons it is!
@@BackyardTrailBuilds hi
