    Just opened a page at random of Dr Sarno's book The Divided Mind and saw a quote by Dr Andrew Weil "I am a great believer in TMS, having seen a great many cases of chronic back pain disappear as if by magic when people fall in love or otherwise make radical changes to their emotional or mental life"

    "A double-minded man receives nothing from God" (James 1:6-11)
    Whether you believe in God or not, most of us are what the Bible calls "double-minded" and that's why it's not working. Double-minded is when we simultaneously have belief and unbelief. Yes, on the one hand we believe nothing is wrong with us and we're doing the work while at the same time HOPING it will work. The hoping part is unbelief. We have to be single-minded by living as if we already have what we want without checking to see if it's working. In Mark 11:24 the Bible tells us that "When you pray, believe that you've received it, and it will be yours." Notice it says that we have to believe WHEN WE PRAY, not when we see it. If we pray and then wait for it to happen, that's not belief... that's belief and unbelief... that's double-minded... that's' why it doesn't work.
    Hope this helps someone.

    If we deep down believe we deserve pain or unpleasantness often the result of childhood trauma, we will create it to align with these deepest held beliefs and feelings as there is not cognitive dissonance when we do this. Many people are not consciously aware that they have those kinds of thoughts/beliefs and feelings that accompany those thoughts, they are repressed. As Dr Sarno said, becoming aware of our own thoughts and feelings can be very scary and the mind is attempting to "help" us by creating physical pain.

    • @carl8568

      I would say it is absolutely the result of childhood trauma, and this is why it's so hard to shift these patterns of victim consciousness and disempowerment.

      This is so interesting… I’m in a 12 step fellowship called Emotions Anonymous and at the time I was beginning to learn a lot about my fears and beliefs beneath my emotions, my chronic pain began! It’s like my brain really didn’t want me to become aware and have to feel all this stuff, so it sent me a good dose of physical pain instead to distract! The timing of the pain helps me to believe that it IS TMS!

    • @relaxingone578
      @relaxingone578 25 днів тому

      @@laurariley9851 often in childhood trauma the child can't survive and thrive while living in the intensity of the emotions they are experiencing and so the mind will do its magic to cope with the emotions by making the situation "ok" in the child's mind by making the child think they are "bad" so the "caregiver" can be perceived as good and safe. Undoing that complex tangle of untruths may often put the now-adult back into the level of emotional development of when it was occurring, and feel extremely threatening to process and grow beyond, mature emotionally. As an adult the nervous system is developed fully and can process these emotions but the mind is still feeling intense survival threat and it can be very confusing to be doing healing work and feel a lot of fear but when it is understood that to go against what once kept you alive it will be scary, but freeing; the desire to avoid this work is lessened. Feel it to heal it. Hear the untruths to change them. best wishes in your healing.

    From all I've learnt by following and listening to various different teachers / mentors / guides in the arena of healing - there is one common denominator that I've realised very strongly...
    That denominator is that everyone we choose to follow / listen to are just guiding us - but they cannot do "the work" or "the healing" for us...
    We have the full responsibility - and ability - to help ourselves with whatever it is we are challenged with, but it has to come through us...
    Katie made a comment earlier referencing Phil's journey and that he totally took responsibility for himself and his own healing - even though it did really test his beliefs and himself... No-one can do our journey for us...
    We all entered this world alone and as we grew and developed and learnt, it was through teachers / mentors / guides / parents etc - but they didn't "do" the work for us, that was solely down to us individually.....
    So I salute Dan and all the other teachers/guides/mentors who are supporting and helping people on their healing paths - its certainly not an easy task..... ❤❤❤
    All said from a place of love... 🙏❤

Choose a dispenza meditation that gives you strong emotions opens yours heart. Be the healed version of you in the meditation and when you open your eyes dont stop being that person. When you doubt sit down and meditate again. The work is killing the doubt. Believing with zero doubt. Watch the interviews of his, meditate like a crazy person and learn k

    I refer again to Dan's video with Phil Saucedo. Phil did have a 'real' problem, he was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. He did do meditation and visualisation, every day without fail. He read ancient and modern thinkers on how the brain works and the role it plays. He understood that it was going to be hard for him to just accept, but regardless he started to, as he says 'think act and behave like a healthy person'. The other thing he says is that he didn't 'believe' all the time. There were many times when his faith wavered, or was at 50%, but he kept going anyway. Some people might be able to keep going for years on blind faith, but the reality is that dealing with daily pain and incapacity, most are going to lose heart and need some sort of evidence that what they're doing in refusing medication or intervention is worth what they're going through. I'm not saying this as a doubter, or to undermine any part of Dan's work, but endurance has limitations.

      It's ok to take meds but they don't address real problems, (might be a few circumstances only) Imo fine to use to get you a breather but usually a knock on effect somewhere else down the line for most people . Honest doctors will tell you this. Do your own research. I'd rather stick to my own body/mind to sort it.

    • @kateking3953
      @kateking3953 27 днів тому +3

      @@1STBUCKLEY I personally don't take medication, but I do do breathwork and have done for four years. I had severe long covid from 2020 with POTS etc, and I don't have those problems any more because I worked with my autonomic nervous system. To each their own. I don't think there's a one-size fits all with TMS any more than with conventional medicine, and to be prescriptive with is not helpful. I believe in the process, but I also think that different people will approach it via different avenue. As Phil did. This is why it's such a great video, because he's so articulate and informative about his particular process.

      @@kateking3953I am still dealing with long covid from 2020 and mold exposure from then as well. Had severe pots and it’s improving the more I nourish my body and hydrate and increase salt daily plus the mind work. What else helped you with pots and other long covid symptoms. I just had re-infection three weeks ago and my heart is racing just rolling over in bed again and the fear has ticked up a lot. I have never taken meds for any of this so I know in time and with retraining it can be fixed. Just didn’t know if you had something that really helped. I do notice I hold my breath a lot and push to get sentences out before breathing again. Feel rushed all the time and have adrenaline rushes.

    • @PainFreeYou
      @PainFreeYou  27 днів тому +3

      Kayla - in my view - everything you are dealing with is a fear and perceived danger response. Many are getting well after being told they have long covid. I'm not convinced the majority of people with symptoms after covid have a medical / viral problem. Getting the "pandemic disease" after all the fear the world experienced is terrifying to most and that kicks off TMS / Perceived Danger Symptoms. I have several "long covid" success stories on my channel. PainFreeYouSuccess.com

    • @kateking3953
      @kateking3953 27 днів тому +3

      @@PainFreeYou Hi Dan, thanks for taking the time to respond. I'm Kate not Kayla! I contracted long covid early on in 2020. Previously I'd been a working gardener with clients, and despite being fairly ancient, I was strong, fit, working outside for hours every day, walked everywhere. I had a mild dose of covid in April 2020, and it totally wrecked my autonomic nervous system. I wasn't afraid of anything, I had no idea what was going on. I was just hit by a train metaphorically. My heart rate went from a steady 60-70 with daily physical activity to 120 on moving a few inches. Thank goodness for Noah Greenspan and his covid bootcamp that helped me navigate towards some sort of stability. Like Phil I was wrecked by it. The evidence from the immunologists and epidemiologists is that LC can cause autoimmune in a lot of cases. RA was Phil's experience, and mine. I'm a believer in TMS, I have a background in natural medicine, and I'm not afraid. I use breathwork because it regulates my nervous system, not to fix. Phil's story is so close to mine, which is why I reference it. Like him I'm very grateful for your input, it's an encouragement on the road home. xx

    This one is confusing to me. We all come to this with fears that’s why we are in this situation and you’re saying don’t do the work (sending yourself consistent safety messages) in fear but fear is part of it, certainly in the beginning. Our state of mind especially when we start is not going to be perfect trust when dealing with intense pain or symptoms. I can only keep being determined to send myself messages of safety but I can’t just totally stop feeling scary/doubtful emotions. How does one do that?

      Hi, my answer may not be the same as Dan's but I used the Existential Kink meditations to take away my fear and pain. Any obsession of fear = interest. So to make it not interesting you meditate on the fears until you're bored of being afraid.
