  • Not unlike many people, I often do presentations and prefer to be able to control the slides without being tied to my computer.
    There are many presentation remotes out there, however very few work seamlessly with Mac OSX or offer the features which the Logitech Spotlight does.
    It is a little more expensive than others on the market, however if you do presentations regularly, or want something more professional, the for around the £60.00 you cant go wrong.
    Here is a video I did for MacBites (macbites.co.uk), and you can pick your remote up from Amazon here: amzn.to/2WRdfbo

    How does the tracking work? If I'm delivering a presentation on a projector screen which is 2m above my head, how does the device know where to place the spotlight effect on the screen when I point at it? Will this need configuring beforehand or does it work itself out? Thanks!

      To be honset i'm not quite sure. You don't have to calibrate it, I guess it 'just works'.

    What is your opinion on the noise from the button press? Other reviews complain about the button click being loud.

      Hi Carl, to be honest, its not something ive noticed being too loud. If you are in a room with nothing playing or no talking you may well notice it, but when giving presentations ive not even given it a second thought :)

    I've just bought it today for a Mac and when it's plugged in via a receiver the back and next buttons don't work but when connected via bluetooth it works ok. Not what you'd expect from a $200 (Australian) device. I think it has something to do with MAC thinking it's a keyboard. Do you have this problem?

      I take it you installed the Logitech software?

      I am indeed, and it is working still.

    Will it still work when the computer is connected to a standard projector rather than a screen?

    Where to buy replacement batteries? I have 3 dead ones. The only last about 1 year.

      It's not possible to buy replacement batteries - they are fixed into the device.

    does this also work with debian/linux?

    • @jonathani
      @jonathani  Рік тому +1

      Hey there - according to the support article, it will work on Linux, however, there will be limited functionality. What 'limited' means, i'm not too sure.
      Perhaps buy it from Amazon and you can always return it if it doesn’t work?

    Be warned, it will stop working for good if you let the battery discharge completely (if not used for a while). Everybody who didn’t use this device during Covid now have a useless paperweight, and Logitech won’t provide support coz it’s “out of warranty”! It;s a major design flaw, and the product should be recalled/withdrawn from sale entirely!
