Good question. The bigger & profitable ones will remain but the ones which are making losses will soon be consolidated. Most small & medium size ones will be merged with their Sponsor Banks in the next 10-15 years. Privatization there is unlikely because they have social mandate & not a lot of money can be made by those banks (so big corporates won't be interested to buy)

THANK YOU SIR FOR THIS INFORMATION AS I AM GOING TO JOIN IN UNION BANK AS AN AFO...BUT SIR I ALSO WANT TO PREPARE FOR NABARD SO SHOULD I PREPARE FOR NABARD IN 1ST TWO YEAR OF JOINING OR SHOULD I PREPARE FOR JAIIB EXAMINATION?
I was in union bank as an AFO, and i cleared NABARD Grade A last year ... Based on my experience, 1.if you have a financial crunch then joining Union Bank make sense otherwise the job profile is such that you will have no time to prepare properly for other jobs. 2. Union Bank have a strange policy amongst the PSU, there is a 3 years bond and the bond amount is huge (2.5 lakhs), so if you got through NABARD then you have to pay the full bond amount plus 3 months notice period, 3. The only pro joining Banking job is that its a huge plus point during your NABARD interview, but try and scored good marks during your mains. Decision is yours to make though and in case you joined Union Bank, concentrate on your JAIIB coz you will get extra increment in NABARD too

This video is a slap to those who say bank job is pathetic ,SSC is better than this . They say there is no life left after being a banker, but they don't know the career growth.
