Budget Buy! Traveler GMTs were never as affordable as now!

- A first for us at Islander Watches - the release of our Traveler GMT, powered by the Miyota 9075. A traveler GMT is designed with the traveler in mind, and is a very useful complication for the jet-setter. The idea here is that the GMT hand stays sync'd to your home time, and you change the regular hour hand for the time zone you are visiting, via a quick change feature.
If you travel, you need one of these!

Thank you for watching!
The Islander brand is quickly becoming one of the coolest brands for design aesthetics and quality. Awesome.
wow, thank you!
Great to see the Miyota 9075 being used vs Seiko NH34. Congrats on the Northport, still wearing mine! Awesome colours as always!
I prefer the other version of a GMT
thanks so much.
I travel quite often and I'm a former paratrooper. That maroon is going to be a Christmas present to myself. Love your channel sir!
Marc, as a Long Islander and an airline pilot, this is the one I’ve been waiting for. Well done!
Marc absolutely killed it with the Port Jeff design. The color ways are all fantastic. Best looking micro brand watch I’ve seen in a long time.
That was the best explanation of how to set a a Traveler GMT 👍
I don't have a need for a traveler's GMT, and this is a little above what I would want to spend on a watch I don't need. That being said, these are some of the best looking watches you've made in a while, and the colors are beautiful. My only gripe would be the minute track; it's just a little busy. I think the minutes need to stand out more so they don't get lost.
no worries, thanks for watching.
For people asking for a dive bezel on this watch, get a dive watch lol. I travel alot and that 24 hr bezel is crucial. Plus, a true GMT in this price for this quality is really nice. Especially at 40mm! Wow!
Design idea from an airline pilot - gmt with the numbers on an inner ring or on the rehaut, with a timing bezel (countdown preferable) in a 40mm case. The only versions of this combo (Mido, Laco, Sinn 847) out there are 43mm cases or larger. Sinn's 846 with a countdown bezel would be another perspective. Timing bezels are way more useful than a a 24 hour bezel. Put the 24 hour numbers on or around the dial.
Longines Hydroconquest GMT:)
Pity you don't work for Seiko. This is the standard of watch they should be offering on their own $600 offerings.
They can offer the same at competitive pricing, they are just sidled up with so many other expenses.
Been a big fan of your channel for a long time and it's been a mainstay for me as I've learned about watches and watch collecting. The red dial immediately had me hooked - it's gorgeous and the specs are amazing. Plus, I love the use of the 9075 movement. Also, you did a great job making it look unique with lots of little details. I just made my first purchase from LIW!
Marc, I said it in a reply to your email and I'll say it here... you absolutely nailed the design! Every color variant looks great. The bezel and chapter ring are perfect. And not a '24' to be seen... I was waiting to see the video and I'll be ponying up!
Very cool. The white is still my favorite. But that maroon… thanks!
I agree!
The degraded maroon with the maroon and brown bezel reminds me of the Jack Mason Dr Pepper GMT. Both of them look magnificent.
I've seen that watch, pretty cool!
i hope you restock the model without gmt. i really like it but the price is way above comfortable for me right now
noted
Very nice, I love it !
Thank you very much!
Wow Mark I don't know how you and the Island design staff keep coming up with these knock out watches, But keep up the great work. Im sure there has been a meeting at another company(s) where the boss is screaming at the staff on why their new designs are nothing like yours.
Good heavens, such handsome watches! Colourways, lume, bracelets, bezel action, perfect. Magnificent job.
Glad you like them!
Looks just like a San Martin GMT SN0116, right down to the band and clasp.
beautiful watches
thank you
They all look great, but that maroon is stunning. Great work!
thanks!
Beautifully done.
These are great, Mark! You butchered the GMT setting explanations, lol. But live that you edited your clarification 😂. You should've kept this video for simply introducing the watch and make a separate vid for GMT setting and functions of the watch! Overall, you are killing it!
Forgit to mention, my favorite is the coke version.
thanks! I thought it best to keep it in, because nothing is perfect!
Authentic and fun!
Great watch, great movement, really do like it ,just wish it had a ceramic bezel
Maybe one day!
If only you had a tool that could😁 tell you what the date was.
LOL
Awesome, beautiful functional watches....! This watch with that world timer bezel insert would be mind blowing
maybe one day
@@islandwatch Please don't ever think I'm knocking you, I LOVE what you do and I learn a lot here - You're one of my favorite watch channels... I do my own "palooka-esque" watch reviews.
These look great! You continue to deliver excellent value pieces Mark, really impressive stuff! Will this be offered on an oyster style bracelet?
not at this point, sorry.
Nice watches and i love that you used the Miyota 9075 but why did you not go with a quick adjust clasp?
price!!!!
Love these Mark! Loved the original and love that you’ve brought them back in GMT. The color ways are 🔥. You really can’t go wrong.
thanks so much
Mom took us to Port Jefferson when we were kids to see the ship that broke in half.
You have released some nice series of watches, but I think this is your most solid set of watches yet. There's usually at least one watch I don't like, but I would be happy with any of these, the blue and red probably being my favorites. If these were at least 42mm, I would probably get one. Keep up the great work. 💪
Very nice! Blue is always my "go-to" color but the maroon is just stunning! BTW, for traveler GMT, I usually set the GMT hand to GMT hour (instead of my home-town hour). This way, I can easily figure out time for any given time zone. I am a bit torn between 24hrs bezel vs diver bezel. They are equally useful to me. Want to do a special edition with both 24hrs and diver on the bezel? ;-)
The white is so cool so retro
Miami Vice!
Do a Northport GMT with the 9075 please
Marc, are you planning on doing a GMT version of the Charcoal variant? I hope so....
not at this point. It's actually the poorest selling version!
@islandwatch wow, wouldn't have expected that.
WELL DONE! At last someone gets this right. A triple time traveller. Moving bezel, 24 hour chapter ring AND a screw down crown. Geez we have had to wait a while for someone to do this. Pls stick a micro adjust on your bracelet. Divers bezel on a GMT NO NO. If they want a divers watch go buy a diver!
haha, okay, you tell 'em!
Nice. But second hands are too hard to see on red, black, and blue versions.
Hey wait a min, is this the first homage of a San Martin original design? we have gone full circle 😮
Dead ringer. Same hardware source?
Love the burgundy
A jumping hour hand gmt for a smidge over $500 - crazy, but in a good way 😁. And that maroon one is lovely.
thank you!
Awesome watch
When is the Islander X Marathon colab going to drop?
I am the biggest fan of red, but there’s too much variety of color on the red/brown bezel
I can't tell if that's good or bad.
If you make a traveler GMT that looks like the ISL-74 "Batman"... It will be mine. Oh yes... It will be mine.
Wish the bezel had the same vintage coloured markings like the original Port Jefferson to match the hands and seconds hand shade. Still great watch
thank you
It is a well-designed watch. I like the white dial one.
Nice looking model! For me I definitely want a 24 hour rotating bezel on a gmt almost all the time. Otherwise it’s really just a dual time, and if I want a timing bezel I’ll just wear a diver.
good point
The colors are amazing. These are going to sell out crazy fast. Eat your heart out, Seiko.
thanks so much.
Hey mark, great watch but I wanted to know whether this is a 48 click bezel or a 24 click bezel.
48 click bezel help in taking into account timezones like India which are utc+5:30
Maybe I missed it, but can you change the date? I have 4 different Islanders, and rotate through them. Just yesterday I got back to my northport, and had to set the date which was 14 days behind. Good thing I didn't have to spin the hour hand around 28 times! LOL
Those are fire but what about some love for us larger wrist guys? A GMT in a Samurai case would be nuclear.
It would be great for your guys, but I have my doubts.
I understand where you are coming from. Your videos have really helped me grow my watch knowledge and I will keep my fingers crossed for something in the future. @@islandwatch
That is a nice wrist watch check today……anyone who thinks you need to spend multiple 4 figures to have nice watches need to check out your wrists……also, congrats on the new release
thank you much!
I'd love this watch with a ceramic bezel
These look great, Marc! Love the blue dial. Any chances the Republic could eventually get the 9075 treatment? I'm a total sucker for a sapphire bezel and that design with a 9075 would check every single box on my now multi-year hunt for the perfect travel watch. Traveler GMT movement, 200m WR, sapphire 24hr bezel/24hr chapter ring, applied indices, and killer lume, all in a 40mm case with a solid bracelet/clasp under $1k? *chef's kiss* Instant buy for me. I've definitely got my eye out for an update like that!
As an aside, I like to approach the 3-timezones just a bit different; 12hr local, chapter ring for GMT/ZULU/UTC, use the bezel to adjust for home time as you cross time zones.
Nice that you've matched the background colour on the date.
thank you.
Agreed. A subtle detail that many watches miss
Waiting for the Port Jeff #ISL-176 to re-stock. (I already own the #ISL-179). I would rather have the thinner & lighter regular Port Jeff without GMT. But I do agree these new GMTs look great!
Marc took a shot at the Strat-o-timer. lol. I own the dark night variant of said piece and love it - double domed, boxed sapphire, 200m, sapphire on back, too, and quick release spring bars with on the fly adjust (awesome seven link jubilee and FKM tropic strap included in the $999rrp, also. I like yours a lot, too, Marc, but your kinda dissing the Jack Mason that has better specs, honestly.
10:14 at this point this looks like a perpetual calendar movement, you need to wear it every other day to keep the right date. That's the reason I think a caller's GMT is better, even though is not considered a "true" GMT movement - you need to adjust the date more often than the gmt hand anyway.
GMT watches - completely useless complication for me. Also wearing my Zelos GMT right now lol
Very nice watches Mark! And good price, especially for the miyota movement. I love the red one!
thanks, I think the red is the sleeper hit.
Hi Marc, I have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of these. I have a couple of questions please. How many clicks is the bezel? Looked like it might be 120? are the bezels on all models Aluminium?
Scratch the question on the aluminum bezels - I've watched the review again and it's clear they are all aluminium.😏
Is there a dead zone where one should not adjust the hour hand ?
It’s very cool, Mark, but I kinda need a toolless micro adjust at that price. That said, I’m strongly tempted!
Consider the movement! You really cannot find a watch like this at this price. (just about)
@@islandwatch true !
Just build your own using the NH34 movement. Can do it for less than US$150
Great looking watch! Are there any new World Time bezels in the works?
There will be a Calabro reboot, but same design, just new colors.
LOVE IT ….BUT $900AUS is OUCH… I am saving tho cause like I said ❤❤❤
okay!
Beautiful!!! I’m lazy… would need a watch winder for this one. 😂
Luckily we sell those
That's awesome.
Now i think you should make couple of different 3 hand models with this movement for a simple traveler watch.
thanks!
Any plans to release this in the cult favorite Caribbean Green colorway?
These look great! Would we be able to mod them? I like the black dial, would love to have the bezel from the white dial on it.
Your best watch yet! Well done Marc!
thank you!
That maroon color is awesome... as a woman I just wish it was 38 to fit my 5.25 inch wrist. 😢
Nice! The maroon is reminiscent of a c1970 Bulova devil diver I lusted after. (Similar to your Fleiger.)
I don’t suppose there’s any chance we can buy your bezel with the cities on it? Probably less utility, but so much cooler than numbers.
Nope, won't fit. Sorry!
Jinx you owe me a coke. I swear everytime you're wearing that 8bit it seems like I have mine on too.
It's a great watch! I happened to see Mr Brew that evening, so I had to dress accordingly.
@@islandwatch I haven't set the time since Wind-up. Johnathan did it when I bought it. No second hand but It hasn't lost a beat. That VK movement has incredible accuracy it seems.
I bought the white version, because I needed a white dial watch (wink wink) and I missed the first white Port Jeff the first time around. Great series.
thank you!
Man, the maroon one is gorgeous. The green is great too. Well done guys.
It has a very nice face but man that watch is way too thick. Nope
Ordered the Green Dial and just got the notice that it has shipped! Aaaaaand now that I’ve seen the Blue Dialon a wrist……..
nice!!!
They all look fantastic. Those colors really pop but are understated enough as to not shout! Well done!
thanks!
Cant agree more, that's the shi..great stuff Marc!
haha, thanks.
These all look great. Watching this wearing my charcoal port jeff.
awesome!
I would love to see this beautiful dile in a samurai case.
noted
I really, really like the maroon dial. Sadly I am well supplied (well, oversupplied) with GMT/Dual time/independently adjustable hour hand watches, can’t justify another one 😢.
One comment: you may want to point out explicitly that this type of movement won’t strip a gear when you change the date around midnight, you can use the first position whenever you feel like it, unlike on an NH34.
Very nice! Hard to pick a favorite. Well done. Have a great day! 🙏🏼
thanks!
Love your brand just so tired of GMTs … since Seiko brought out their new GMT movements EVERY micro brand and even large brands have flooded the market …is their that many people that want or need a GMT??
I think there's alot of people that wanted a good, affordable GMT. Are there that many people that need a dive watch? I think it's sorta the same question.
@@islandwatch that’s a Fairpoint however, there’s a flood of affordable GMT on the market at the moment. I would say the islander quality may be among the best of them, but nonetheless, there is a lot. And i said want not need. few people need a dive watch but a lot of people want a dive watch. I would say that in general, there are indeed a lot more people that want dive watches that’s why they sell so much better. but nevertheless, your watch is a great design
Just popped in to compliment "Editing Marc" on how patient and understanding he was with "Video Marc." It's clear that "Video Marc" is giving 100% and is GREAT at videos but "Video Marc" is much better at designing, creating, manufacturing and shipping the best LOOKING and best VALUE watch in America and "Editing Marc" understands that! I love it! I can't wait for my Port Jeff GMT to arrive! The hardest part was deciding on the white or the red!!! I hope to meet both "Video Marc" and "Editing March" at a watch show one day!
Long Island Watch is putting the big brands on notice! Very impressive!
Any plans on a fixed bezel field type GMT watch?
I think this is the cheapest mechanical travellers GMT ive seen so far. Atleast one using this movement.
Date at 6, that gorgeous dial and bezel, quite thin as well. This is gonna sell out quickly!
I just wish it had it had a fully milled clasp. I love mine and i understand it contributes to the balance and overall thiness but on the GMT couldve gone for fully milled.
With that said this is one of the best looking GMTs out there and you guys done a great job again!
👏👏👏
They all look good, but that red is super!
yeah, came out better than expected.
Stunning. I love a single dome crystal. May not be 100% practical but it looks stunning and adds interest. Ps really really like the Islander logo along with the text. Classy
Never needed a GMT but they are neat for travelers
for sure.
This is the best explanation of how to use a travelers gmt. I got my first one recently and have been searching for a decent explanation non stop. 20+ videos later and I finally found it. Thank you, mark!
The photos in your email are kinda bad but after seeing this video I gotta say the blue and maroon are 🔥. Thanks for your hard work!
Would love one of these with a cloud or waffle dial. I just received the JFK GMT white cloud dial and it is stunning
Very happy you made this watch Marc. It is gorgeous…especially that maroon beauty! Wow.
Wow, these are great! I couldn't even decide which color is the best. All of them are simply fantastic.
Love this brand and all their affordable watches with great quality and features
That maroon looks incredible.
Came out great!
These are beauts with an unbeatable price! But I must ask: steel bezel when? 👀
The white one and the coke color way are my favorite. They are all awesome though.
