I'm finding following sunflower with tomatoes really seems to work well.Yes using the large sunflower as a cover crop and second season following with the tomatoes.Do build up the spot for drainage is very important.Dont disturb the sunflower root ball so no tilting unless you do it before the sunflower building for drainage.

@@shellyshetler9268 my 3 th. Season and also must build up the soil as tomatoes need air also.
I've very hard pack claybase soil like cement if not well moisture truly hard.
I'm finding loads of mulch small sticks and old stuff prefer any leaves grass clippings and yard was If you can turn it over some it's helpful.build up 8 to 10 inches adding some compost and soil early fall then next spring kill the weeds and plant big sunflower where you space your tomatoes let them grow leave the roots in location next season place tomatoes in next to the old stumps of the sunflower of the previous season adding lime and bone meal and expect the best result of tomatoes in your garden.
Remember raised the bed is important drainage for tomatoes can drown in clay.
I'm 72 years old and we don't need tilting but can have great veggies.this season I've made the area about 10 ft across I have 4 plants equal space have tomatoes cages that are tied together with sunflower stalks bracing from the four from wind damage and 4 season it's working perfect and the cheapest way to raise tomato plants. This season I have a circle of green beans that are getting off to a good start.. Have grass clippings in center that hold moisture and are almost weedless.
Soon I'm starting a third setup and I'll get lots of pictures and post on this website.

@@bloomandwiltgardens I also built up the soil much as in ground beds as I've claybase soil and drainage is so important. I've 14 Black Krim and the 2 plants in the sunflower setup are double producing any two of the others and larger tomatoes my best 1.27 lbs I believe probably my best Black Krim ever and plenty of the 3/4 lbs size and I've Thourburg Terracotta that is very loaded and large fruit coming 😄.
I'm 72 truly easier than the other 10 methods I've ever tried and in the last 5 seasons I've been trying hard to learn a easier and more productive system I'm saying this is all that.
I'm setting up 4 of this setup and expect to cut my work in half or less also less water as last year's drought early season in Ohio I definitely saw a huge difference as my setup was twice as far to water as water in my rain barrels dried out I didn't water this setup and still definitely better productive plants

I just add more compost around the plants as they produce or specially when I notice they are not producing as much.

I did that today. Fox Farms. But I also have fish emulsion liquid form. I wonder how I would give fish emulsion even though I’ve put a handful of bull compost at the base.
      Great Video!! ❤

Since it has been a few weeks you can add the fertilizer for a boost. Just dilute it first. 😊 how are your plants doing?
