- R.O.B. started out as a controller for two NES games and has since become a recurring character in many Nintendo games. He even made several playable appearances over the years.
Let's see how R.O.B. the robot evolved in all of his video game appearances from 1985 to 2018.

R.O.B’s character is actually very sad. In Pikmin 2, his name is very emotional: Remembered Old Friend. In Smash Bros Brawl, his story is sad as well: His kind dies from bombs, and he watches them. Not wanting them to die out. In Smash Bros Ultimate, his description in the boxing ring is “The last of his kind.” Poor R.O.B...
For the pikmin 2, it's actually Remembered Old Buddy. Yeah, it's sad. But he'll be in smash for a long time.

That's even more sad if you consider his story in real life. He was a important part of Nintendo's past but today that's all he is, past. He wasn't forgotten or anything but the fact that most of his appearences refer to him as "the last of his kind" and Subspace Emissary shows the extinction of the ROBs show that he's basically the last representant of a lost era that will never come back. Thinking like this we can probably say that he's the best character to represent the NES era in Smash

I feel bad for R.O.B. in Subspace Emissary. Especially how Ganondorf made his friends and family get destroyed and they tried to kill R.O.B.
ROB should be added to mario kart 8 deluxe, along with one of his cool looking karts. Hell, add him to the new mario party!
Mario party isn't a crossover game like smash bros. He did have his own game so he cant be in Mario party. Though it would be cool to see dlc for MK8 Deluxe. Or even a free update.

Yeah i loved that tall kart he had on DS. I hope he becomes a regular racer and maybe we'll see him on Switch's MK8 Deluxe
I for one wouldn't really like to see a Mario Kart comeback for R.O.B. Last time he made an appearence was in Mario Kart DS and in that he had his legs for a kart.

Deathpie24 Goop26 It is canon. In the background of Little Mac's stage, when you play as R.O.B it says "The Last of His Kind", referencing Subspace. And at 13:26 you can see how sad R.O.B looks when looking at that bomb, another Subspace reference.

@@perishpreferablywithafork5017 what about in a franchise they made different parts of R.O.B like a collectable, like the pizza planet car in Pixar movies, and maybe when you find him, you get a R.O.B boss or you get him as a character, or a mini mode with him in it

Note: in the first 2 games he is a physical toy that gets controlled by the flashes of the tv so he can press buttons on a controller in an over complicated way

@@MewTubeHK trust me he was, you are right. The only sad thing with Rob was the fact he would act up easy. I've tried fixing him my self and bring it to repair shops, but he would still break. I still have him in my room.

I always found it odd that this little robot has found such a place in the world of Nintendo's games. But looking back through his history I suppose he does have his mark on it all.

HyruleGoji98 different universes. Rob doesn’t actually exist in zeldas storyline. Smash bros games are considered “uncanon” so anything that happens in them doesn’t happen in real Zelda or other games storylines.

I liked R.O.B. in Smash, but I was thinking he was some kind of a original character that was made for Smash. After like a month I realised he was in Pikmin 2. (I've seen him in Mario Kart but never realised he was R.O.B.)

Remembered old buddy, losing his family, wanting to die with them, made evil in other games. R.O.B has the saddest history out of all the video game characters. Even more than the rejection of waluigi.

I remember I went to a sale around November 2022 and found R.O.B for sale and when I came back a few hours later to see he was still there and we was he was never sold for the whole day so I Bought him and he now lives happily in my game room
