this song always makes me picture some end of the world survivors bunched up around a campfire at an old airstrip or a parking lot, and the oldies tell the same old stories they've told a million times to the kids who never knew the old world, and sometimes people play the songs they once knew by heart, and sure, life is damned hard, world went to shit, but for the moment, out under that starry sky, everything's okay
I love this so much. In my head, I pictured a lone survivor hiding around some broken rail tracks in the outskirts of town, after narrowing escaping the initial fallout. Just processing the grief and shock of this sudden collapse of his life structure. Around the first climax is where he starts to break through his grief / spiraling into letting go and reaching for hope starts to think about how he just might be able to find something worth living for again. The second climax is a few days/weeks later when he finds some fellow kindred spirits and hear of news of surviving settlements, some not far away...
Godspeed Guy! Brilliant to see you're back to uploading. Question, do you think it's possible that we can get a digital copy of the master/R2R tapes of Yanqui U.X.O from which the vinyl comes from? I'm no fan of vinyl at all but the vinyl version of Yanqui is superior for various reasons. I don't think we want to listen to vinyl rips forever. A rip of the R2R would be fantastic.
My life can never be complete if I cannot see this live...
Same. Very very rare though and they haven’t done it in over a decade.
This is just pure sonic beauty

I would if I could but I'm just a fan! I got no access to anything like that
I would love to see that too.
