Yeah I saw a picture someone took of a dude who watching hardcore porn in the plane while surrendered by people. Like he was in the middle seat with people next to him. I don't know how common that is, but that's insane no matter how rare.

I'm with Matt on this one. He didn't spend hie daughter's entire lives checking shows, videos, books and games, teaching them purity, and keeping them innocent just so that some dirtball could undo that in a public place. This is the type of masculinity and fatherhood that is needed in America.

Reminds me of this awful twitter thread I saw a while back. Someone took a video of some people doing the deed on the public sidewalk in CA. People in the comments were more upset about the person filming it than what was being filmed. They want us to feel bad about pointing out evil things in public.
The guy probably reacted more to the shock of being called out - no one does it anymore. And they should!

I was having a conversation with my parents about pornography a bit ago, and my dad told me that the first time he ever saw pornographic material, he was twelve-years-old and on the school bus. The individuals who brought the porn were only a couple of years older than him.
I have the opposite problem. I’m super confrontational. It’s something I’m constantly trying to work on. I grew up in a very traditional valued Portuguese family. The men in my family are very and I mean very hot tempered. When injustice or immoral things were done in front my family the men would turn to full on rage. I struggle against the rage I feel inside when I see things like what this man described. Because I’m filled with such utter disgust towards people’s behavior in our society today.
I'm from a Portuguese family too. As has been said "I'm not yelling I'm Portuguese" lol. On a serious note I think your personality can be cultivated for good. You're already brave enough to confront, now you have to practice self control and discernment to not sin in anger and know when you should or shouldn't confront someone.

Good for you! Why anyone would think watching a scene like that would be socially acceptable in public is beyond me. Imagine what he watches in the privacy of his basement. I’m graduate of STRIVE21 and porn-free almost 3 years later.

I once took my boys to a movie when they were about 10, and we sat in the second row from the top. During the movie some youths kept running around and making noise behind us. There were about four of them. I shushed them and told them to knock it off. Then spent the rest of the movie expecting to get my head bashed in. Fortunately, nothing happened.

Matt I think you certainly did the right thing in that situation as a means of preserving your children's innocence. Now I don't know if I would have had the, uh...cojones to do the same thing, but I think that was admirable in that situation. And it certainly makes sense that Our Lord would give you of all people that grace to address the matter properly since you have been the Supreme General in this great Crusade against pornography for our times.
Yes, that man already had the millstone tied around his neck and any slight tug would push him in the sea, but at this point we have to go to the measures we once considered were extreme to preserve both our chastity and purity as well as our children’s chastity and purity.
One image, even on a small smartphone screen, can stick in anyone’s brain like a hard drive on a computer.
You would have to go to Hilary Clinton levels of wiping and destroying servers followed by burning any evidence. That’s being facetious but there is no spiritual equivalent, since we’re talking about a metaphysical reality.
But that one image, because it’s so jarring can not only lead the soul of a child to consent to a mortally sinful thought, but more likely it can instill the curiosity in the young mind and have it snowball from there until the soul hurdles headlong into hell. God bless us and the Immaculate Virgin protect us, in this our endeavor!
On the other hand, perhaps that was a jarring experience for that man being publicly shamed like that, but it could be the means Our Lord gets his attention again and down the line lead to his repentance. May it be so for him and for us.
I remember seeing a guy watching porn on one of the university computers about 15 years ago. It wasn't a computer in some obscure corner either. The whole room was behind him and could see what he was looking at. There were at least no children around, but it's surprising to me how shameless some people are.
You have to ask yourself 1 of 2 things. 1) How would Jesus approach this situation with the man on the plane. 2) How would Batman approach this situation. I love my Lord and savior... Buuut I'm a fan of Batman's justice...😂😂

Yes every school and library (and apparently airplane) need a Citizen Prime these days. Sad that what used to be an internal moral compass, conscience, or just plain common sense now has to be superhero action coming in from the outside.

4:50 I think the gentler approach would have been better. The passive aggressive shout definitely isn't great, embarrassing someone who perhaps didn't know the scene was coming up doesn't seem right. But it could have been a powerful witness, and you're right how serious it is endangering children's innocence. Still, drawing more attention to it, even the kid's attention? I don't know. Good job for doing at least something!

This is very context dependent. Was the guy watching Game of Thrones or was it actual porn? How old was he? Was he awake?
Is porn not evil?
Even if he fell asleep watching Game of Thrones, that doesn’t justify the fact that he was irresponsible enough to watch it in the first place, especially with children on board. There is no context where having sexually explicit scenes near children is permissible. None.
Game of Thrones contains p*rnography and it's equally inappropriate to watch it in public (or anywhere else). Just because p*rn is attached to a piece of entertainment that you like it doesn't magically become morally acceptable to watch, let alone in public.
Edit: for some reason UA-cam keeps deleting my responses, so I'll add it here. Regarding the supposed difference between simulated s3× scenes in Game of Thrones and "real p*rn", that's just cope. There's all sorts of p*rnography that doesn't involve actual s3× between people: e.g., anime p*rn, or pictures in a smut magazine. It's still p*rn and it's still immoral to consume it (let alone in public). Stop trying to justify the p*rn that you watch just because you like the plot of Game of Thrones.

No, no it is not "context dependent". Since the guy didn't immediately shut it off when the explicit scene started, he consented to publicly displaying pornography. One might say "well, maybe it didn't even occur to him" - yeah, because no-one calls stuff like that out like they should.
(Also, not just because there were children but the public in general. Adults have the right not to be assaulted by filth too, actually)
I feel like this situation was probably blown way out of proportion by Matt. No Hollywood movie has full-on pornographic content. It was probably just a quick sex scene, and whoever was watching it was probably embarrassed by it and didn't mean to expose it to anyone else.
You don’t need sustained, uncensored shots of private parts for something to be pornographic. You are also underestimating how explicit many HBO shows or contemporary movies get. It’s not a bad thing to encourage people to skip past those scenes if they’re in public regardless of how unexpected or embarrassed they are.

Airplane movies aren’t even allowed to have graphic sex scenes. I’m sure it was blown out of proportion by Matt and he could easily have been more charitable. I think many people have had a sex scene come up on a plane and there always the conscious question of “do I skip” or not. Sometimes it’s a little awkward to skip in front of people. It can be awkward either way. Doesn’t justify watching it but you never know what’s going on in peoples heads or if they just freeze up in the presence of others if something uncomfortable comes up.
No, these movies are straight up inappropriate. Just because they don't show p in v doesn't mean it's not porn. You can't even tell they're covering their privates. The actors aren't married to each other and the characters almost never are either and the scene rarely adds to the movie. I used to have no problem with it but now I just hate it. It's subliminal messaging and it already worked.

No, it's ridiculous that we have to hate our own bodies, can't be seen nude (with no bad intentions) meanwhile just about every movie past pg-13 has a needless "softcore" porn scene.
Every movie promotes debauchery. Keep in mind most sex scenes aren't of people who are married (in the story). It's almost always fornication or adultery.
