    Excellent video! Kings Park is extremely popular for picnics, outdoor concerts and various festivals including an upcoming light festival at night. The twilight view of the city from King's Park is stunning.

    So, when you got off the ferry in S Perth, a short walk would have taken you to the Zoo which has Red and Grey kangaroos, as well as Wallabies.
    Another good place to find kangaroos is Pinaroo Cemetery.

    • @matandangie
      @matandangie  9 місяців тому +2

      Thank you for the tip, but we don’t go to any kind of zoo or aquarium, we are against animal captivity, but we saw many wild kangaroos while driving from Adelaide to Sydney (many vlogs about that coming!) 🤩

    • @zwieseler
      @zwieseler 9 місяців тому +4

      @@matandangie Yeh, I get where you're coming from. Unfortunately, zoos are becoming an ark for endangered species.
      For example, Perth Zoo has brought a number of species back from the edge of extinction through their conservation programs which can be found on their web site.
      They are also a member of the Zoo and Aquarium Assoc. which provides critical funding to projects that aim to protect and conserve threatened species in the wild. It manages networks for over 500 zoo and aquarium specialists in fields such as wildlife research, veterinary science, environmental education and horticulture. Members have to comply with strict animal welfare obligations.
      So, by visiting the zoo, you actually support the survival of threatened species in the wild.

    • @matandangie
      @matandangie  9 місяців тому +3

      That’s actually cool to know! Thanks for sharing.. it’s a pity it has to be like that though and I’m not sure animal in captivity should be the solution for endangered species. At least it is not all bad then. Glad you told us that!

    I'd suggest visiting Rottnest Island. The Rottnest Express boat isn't exactly cheap, especially from Elizabeth Quay. But we've just come off our hottest summer on record. I think you'd enjoy a swim in Little Salmon Bay, explore the island, Quokka selfies etc. It's the tourist thing to do.

    • @matandangie
      @matandangie  9 місяців тому +1

      Thank you for the tip ❤️ another friend of us recommended us to see Rottnest Island and we wanted it to go so badly, but unfortunately the ferry ticket was just too much for us.. maybe next time, hoping to have then a higher budget 😅

    • @polz8
      @polz8 9 місяців тому

      @@matandangie It is rather prohibitive, especially just for a day-trip. And I'm not always looking out for cheaper fare days. As a local, going to Rotto is a once per decade event.
      Try to befriend somebody that owns a boat. It's what I do 😉

    So glad you enjoyed my city; you certainly packed a lot into a short visit!
    Surprised you had to pay to get to Kings Park from the City. Buses there from the CBD are part of the Free Transit Zone that runs all the way from East Perth to West Perth, but maybe you told the driver you were going on to Cottesloe and he charged you for that.
    Hope you get the chance to come back and explore a little more. I'm off to check out some of your other travels! 💖

    How do you pay public transport, there? Especially bus. Cash or cad?

    • @matandangie
      @matandangie  9 місяців тому +1

      We got a DayRider which is an all included (bus, train and ferry) pass for 1 day. We got it at the wharf paying by card. You can get it at train stations as well. If you do not want a pass, but just a singular ticket you can get it at train stations and wharfs paying by card/cash or in cash on buses (no card accepted I think). Double check everything on the official website though www.transperth.wa.gov.au/ (hope this helps ❤️)

      Exactly, we found out there were different kinds of kangaroos only after our road trip (coming soon all the videos), so we were always like "why are they so tiny?!"...... then it all made sense 😂

      @matandangie  9 місяців тому

      There was no gate.. you just enter right away in the park, if it there was we didn’t see it! 😅

    • @philthy903
      @philthy903 7 місяців тому

      @@matandangie You did actually use a gate; that little cage you go through to get to the kangaroo area. It's not for security or payment, it's just there to stop the kangaroos wandering onto the very busy road over the river. The nearby building works that were going on, while you were here, are making a beautiful bridge for bicycles and pedestrians, away from that busy road. It will have spaces for people to stop and enjoy the view. Hope you come back and enjoy it when it's finished :)

      Affectionately and cheekily called "Betty's Jetty" not Elizabeth Quay by the locals such as myself. Also if you want to see the streets full of people and lots going on try Friday or Saturday night. My wife and I had dinner at a restaurant in the city on the previous weekend and the place was heaving.
