FISH SNAPS REEL OFF ROD - Land based queeny on broken takle

After countless fish on the same rod and reel, I hook a good size queeny only to have the reel snap at the seat. Devastated that my favourite reel is broken, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
Is it possible to land a solid fish with rod and reel in two separate pieces? You'll have to tune in to find out.
