A person who was able to fix the deal at that price for that house doesnt need comments on what he might be doing wrong...he is in charge 👍.....what people need to realize is Italy has a different slower and more complicated dimension from the u.k....why do you think he hasnt found an electrician yet???go with the flow as he is...he is a man who gets things done .
Keyboard warlords at it, don’t listen to any of them, you keep doing it the way you are, your making and living your own dream great progress and can’t wait till next episode
I’d have your property in a heartbeat, it’s going to be stunning. I’d be interested to see more of the local area if possible. Good luck in all you do x
I’m on the side of this guy. Take the tree out. He can always plant a new one. Too many negative comments. He’s in Sicilly so encourage him please.Keep up the great work young Sir. Well done🙏
Jeez, there are some weird people commenting on Jonathan's channel. I cannot imagine bothering to watch something i didn't like, or that I found annoying, especially so much that they leave a comment. Good luck to you Jon! I'm finding it brilliant following your adventure. Much love ❤.
Get a water trickle installation. A thin waterline with holes fed by a small pump. That way the garden is watered all day with a tiny amount. Within no time your garden will be a green oasis. The pump can be connected to the well.
Elsewhere on UA-cam, people involved in market gardening in Sicily, recommend burying the pierced water line nearer to the roots so as not to lose the water immediately to evaporation.
The almond tree gives amazing blossoms in spring. Great to hear you will replacing the trees. You had a very great deal at the house! Would have bought it myself for that price!
Beh, complimenti, grazie per aver condiviso le tue spese. Adesso ho un quadro più chiaro. Complimenti ancora per l'ottimo affare, non l'avrei mai detto.
Loving all ur vlogs & good to hear you talking. Loving watching you working round all the areas requiring immediate attention. Thank you for sharing the process for purchasing ur beautiful villa & what a property for the price. I think people don't appreciate how long it takes to have electricity & gas connected to a derelict property abroad...it's not the UK!!!Are you travelling back & forwards to the UK or have you a residencia/visa to live in Sicily. We love Italy & what a wonderful area to live in.Good luck with ur project 😄
What dont underderstand is why do these jobs in middle of the day start early for outside jobs take note of people around you how they navigate the heat..Being your body is not used to the heat But I do applaude you giving it a jolly good go 😊
Getting to know about what's available locally is better for you, it can be difficult but the longer you are there the more you will discover. You can sometimes find much better service from the local businesses but not always. Looking forward to watching more.👍
You secured a tremendous deal. You could turn your property negotiation skills into a business later on. I admire your purposeful way of working. You don't risk burnout. (You don't happen to be ex-services by any chance? I may be very wrong and its a nosey question that you can ignore. Your demeanour, work ethic and planning skills remind me of many ex-service people I have come across in my professional life).
This is a very interesting video series. Thank you for sharing your insights and the amazing amount of hard work you’re doing. I look forward to more videos detailing this renovation journey. As a gardener, I completely understand wanting to start with a clean slate.
Hi Johnathan, I noticed just how sound the house was the first time you showed us inside. The lack of cracking and no water stains stood out for me as well as no pealing paintwork which is usually standard in Italy lol. I don't have any more advice to add, but I have never bought a property that doesn't need work. I suppose I could say that I would definitely be more comfortable with projects I can do most of myself. Anything structural I'd advise a quote first to make sure it's in your budget. Thank you for sharing again. Don't work too long in the heat of the day. 👍❤️
Given the large roof and abundant sunshine you should consider adding PV installation with battery storage - will tide you over or even remove need for grid power connection.
You obviously knew how to negotiate a good deal in your buying of the house. Not speaking Sicilian or Italian you were able to do very well for yourself. Congratulations!
You´re a canny man! Excellent deal. Good luck with the electricity and water connection. Back when telephones were landlines, I waited a year and a half to get mine in Greece. It was maddening, a phone isn´t even "essential".
good luck with everything ! If I may give a word of advice (as a horticulturalist) on the trees: Prune the Olives (spring /winter is best time), and the almonds ,as useful as they are are very thirsty trees , so take that into consideration.
Oh, wow!!! 21,000 euros??? That is EXCELLENT!!! Good job!! Yes, you are correct about the appearance of disinterest. It's like playing poker. Put on your best "poker face" and sit back until they come to you. Thanks for sharing your journey.
Ooooh the bushes and treest😢 Better water them and trim them Because you gonna love the shade during summer One of the first things I would do restore the water connection. It It al starts with water and electrics rebuilding a house But you realy did pay a great price..! Follow you in the next episodes Greets Tom
Hi Jonathan, my name is Annunziata and i'm an italian living in Germany. My radices are in Calabria. Your Viletta ist a rough diamond. Your make a great job! Keep on... Bye
My favorite man.I think it's a fantastic deal. The villa has so much potential. Thanks for explaining. I have a question about your vehicle outside instead of inside the property. Well done. I can't wait for next week.
I've only just found your site and have watched each stage so far, I am looking forward to seeing you progress with your project and find it interesting that its happening in Scicily. We moved to France 17 years ago and have never looked back. I hope your dream comes true I know ours did so wish you all the luck with the renovations and am looking forward to seeing how you tackle things in Scicily, we know with red tape in France some of it can be very time consuming but seeing how you managed to buy a property for that deal I'm sure you will negotiate the journey.
You’re absolutely right-protective eyewear is so important! 😊 Sometimes I do forget to use PPE, especially when I’m in focused work mode, but I do try to keep safety in mind. Honestly, the safety glasses steaming up and the dust mask making it hard to breathe can be a bit of a challenge, but I’m working on being more consistent with it. Thanks for the reminder and for your support-it really means a lot! 🛠👷♂
Congratulations. We both a Mobile home in California. When we walk in I could see how it would look. Seven years ago it was 49 townsend. I added up the things to be fix. We got it for 25 Townsend and 2.500 of closing costs. We work a lot with husband, to totally renew it. The bathrooms have new floors and vanities. We have 3 bedrooms two baths 1.647 square feet. We where 76 and 79. It looks beautiful now like a new house.
You have cleaned the gardens well. I did some research about olive trees well those cactuses you dug out are used when olive trees are planted to feed the roots, in very dry areas they do so for up to three years. We'll move on to the beehives when the house is done, until then, take care.
💕This is a beautiful property with so much potential to make it into something truly stunning💕You are doing an amazing job so far & I know things take a lot longer to get done out there💕Keep up the good work💕
Thank you so much for the lovely comment! 💕 It really is an amazing property with so much potential, and I’m enjoying every step of the transformation, even if things do take a bit longer here in Sicily. 😊 Have you had a chance to watch some of my other videos? Video 13 is going live this Sunday, so stay tuned for even more updates! 🎥✨
@ 💕I have been watching you from the start what first caught my attention was the gates then I saw the building had good bones💕My advice would be to learn the language as you’ll find it easier going forward especially when you need to get any work done you will find that the locals will appreciate that you are making an effort to learn💕
I started looking at flights after finding the channel, then remembered i really dislike heat as much as the cold after seeing your t-shirt drenched in sweat working standing indoors.
In an earlier video you mentioned that you would be moving some of the trees. Given the size of the trees, you may need to install new trees. It's not easy to move mature trees, unless done professionally, most of them will die of root shock.
You, my friend are very smart. What did you do for a living?? The only thing I would have done differently is approach the seller to pay some of the real estate taxes Otherwise, personally, I think you did very well It's going to be a beautiful property when you're through Glad to follow your journey hello from New York City
Nicely done sir, you took time negotiating and secured this project for a great price. I really hope you are careful using that chainsaw😮 take your time it’s gonna be worth it 👏🏾🥰
Please dont listen to any of the Debbie Downers. You are doing great, and what a steal!!! Congrats. Are you there full time or going back and forth to UK? Looking forward to nextvweek already.
Think about a small solar panel for right now and never get rid of shade. You can grow things at its base that can not be grown in the full sun. Planting new trees take lots of water and some shade and years to fully develop.
Great advice-shade really is valuable, and I’m definitely replanting where I can. 🌳 I’ve been considering a small solar setup for now until the bigger systems are installed. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, and keep an eye out for my new video this Sunday! ☀️
Congratulations for the videos. And also for the deal, at that price it was a very good deal. I live in Milan and here life and the climate are different, but if I were you I would have concentrated more on having water, electricity and gas. Or burning wood with a fireplace. Trying to fix the inside of the house, Winter is coming. I would do the garden in my spare time.
Maybe some suncharhged lights would make a cosy asset when darkness hits in the evenings!! You have an almond tree! So have I ...in Sweden would you believe!? What a price for a gem, fantastic...good on you to have gotten the villa!
What made you choose sicily? What made you choose this part of the island and how did you find the property? Look forward to seeing your journey. Enjoying it all so far!
Great negotiating skills, you saw the potential and obtained what is going to be a stunning property when finished. Has the cat had kittens ? Looking forward to next week.
You are very intelligent and jard working! Great job with the house so far. I am enjoying rhe journey! Please try not to do too much during the siesta! Perhaps you should wait the two hours and use the chain saw.
Looks to me like you got a bargain there. What a little paradise its going to be. Yes, it needs work, but you seem up to the task. My daughter has just bought a wreck, and I mean wreck in Bulgaria. Its terrifying for me. But i know shes up to it. Good luck young man, ill be watching and urging you on. Thank you for sharing.
If you design your garden and install new trees now, by the time you complete your home renovation, the new trees should be producing fruit/nuts. Also, you can not only eat the prickly pear fruit but can cook the cactus leaves and have napoles.
Are you living near the property and are you planning on living in the villa once renovated, or are you doing it up to sell on. What time is siesta over there ?
I’m staying nearby in a rental while working on the villa. The plan is definitely to live here once it’s fully renovated-it’s going to be amazing! 🏡 Siesta varies, but it’s typically between 1-4 PM. New video out on Sunday, hope you enjoy it! 😊
We were always told 'live with a new garden for a year before removing anything. That way you see how it works throughout the seasons' However I do aporeciate some of these may be compromising foundations or be diseased. Just don't rush too much.

You are an inspiration, new country, new culture and a new language! How's your Italian? 😊
It looks like you negotiated very well, congratulations!!!

As a former real estate agent in America, (retired) well played sir! I look forward to watching you progress.
Thanks for watching, appreciate the kind words! 😊

You can get sola led lights and sola panels on the roof that would light the all the house up !!👍
Wow ! Jonathan, what a deal. I'm watching with great interest on the renovation.
I love your tenacity! I do work in my garden by myself, and sometimes it's hard doing it alone. You are admirable.
Stihl should definitely send s full kit after the plug! Good for you

Replacing the trees will be extremely difficult. This is not UK! Problems with water deficiency and droughts increase every year in Sicily.
Whilst you’re quite right, he has the potential advantage of a well. Good luck to him I say!
you never replace a tree, you just destroy an old one by something who may grow the same size in a few decades.
It seems mad to me to cut down a tree in a Sicilian garden, when shade is so precious in summer.
Beh, complimenti, grazie per aver condiviso le tue spese. Adesso ho un quadro più chiaro. Complimenti ancora per l'ottimo affare, non l'avrei mai detto.
Good to see you getting more comfortable talking to the camera. I knew you would 😊 aww I just saw Daisy sunning herself ❤
You got a fantastic deal on your new home! I can’t think of a single thing that would have made it any better. Well done!🐝❤️🤗
WOW, what a great deal!! You really knew what you were doing. Thank you for the great info!

Thanks so much, means a lot! 🙏
Relax Take it easy Renovation, sehr schön zu sehen wie Du dein Anwesen auf Vordermann bringst 🌟
I think you got a great deal, amazing, watching closely how you turn your villa into a palace
Well done Jonathon 🎉
The drought has damaged the trees.
Walk around the neighbourhood and see what is growing to help with ideas on regrowing your garden.
Were you able to get rid of the garbage? How does disposing of rubbish work in your area?
Minimum protection using a chainsaw are safety glasses and hearing protection. Agree with Stihl being great gear.
I was thinking the same
Fantastic to hear of your journey plus how you negotiated the price down to €21,000 euros well done.
Love watching what your doing .🎉.
Thanks for following along, it means the world! 🌍

Hopefully, you are moving forward now with making your water well functional. Here, when drilling water wells, we install metal well casing.

Is there mains water in the street and what will be the cost for connecting water and electricity. ?
There are neighbors, it's a good think 😊

Yey you're planting more trees yey 🧡🌱🌿🪴💦
yep, lots more i.e lime, lemon, peach, pear and going to give avocado a go

Thanks for sticking around, it means so much! 😊👍
Maybe some suncharhged lights would make a cosy asset when darkness hits in the evenings!! You have an almond tree! So have I ...in Sweden would you believe!?
What a price for a gem, fantastic...good on you to have gotten the villa!
Well done!
Thanks a million, I’m glad you enjoyed it! 🎉
thank you very much for the open cost and all you tell open about the project. subscribe and like.THANK YOU!
Isn’t it best to fix the house first so you have so where to live?
What made you choose sicily? What made you choose this part of the island and how did you find the property? Look forward to seeing your journey. Enjoying it all so far!
Excellent, agree with all your comments. Good luck.

Great negotiating skills, you saw the potential and obtained what is going to be a stunning property when finished. Has the cat had kittens ? Looking forward to next week.
Will you provide a box for your new cat? She will need a safe place for her kittens. 😊
WELL DONE WITH PRICE AND CLEAN UP
I do exactly the same when negotiating ❤ Great work.
Thanks so much for watching and supporting! New video out Sunday! 🎥
I’m interested in to why you are concentrating on the garden over work inside please?
I agree, where is the priority list?????
Thanx for the breakdown and buying strategy. Very interesting 🎉🎉
Truly grateful for your support! 🙏
You are very intelligent and jard working! Great job with the house so far. I am enjoying rhe journey! Please try not to do too much during the siesta! Perhaps you should wait the two hours and use the chain saw.
how many sq meters is it? it looks in such better shape now all clean. Are you living in Sicily now ?
Looks to me like you got a bargain there. What a little paradise its going to be. Yes, it needs work, but you seem up to the task.

Where does all the trash go? Is there a local landfill/dump/tip?
Great advice
Great price!
Cheers, appreciate your support! 👍
With the amount of sun you get, maybe you could install some solar lights in the garden?
I wouldn't have cut that tree down. Its shadow was nice, even though just a tree shadow isn't enough to protect from the 38°C
Great negotiation skills.
Truly grateful for your kindness, thank you! 💖
