Just got my first set of little windows OMG lady you are one amazing artist so glad I found you and little windows you have really created some beautiful artwork’s so excited to get started ❤️
Once again Fran and her amazing Little Windows resins hits the ball out of the park. I just love the way your mind works and the things you come up with. To think I've been throwing those away all this time! Thank you Fran for always inspiring us. I absolutely love the stuff you do and I especially love your resin!
I love the idea of using items around the house for molds. Thank you for the great ideas. I am going to buy your colorants because they seem more opaque than the ones I have tried!
The designs are Awesome to me...The dove signifies something for me...My dad passed awsy in 1995 & I was a Daddys girl. There is not 1 day that passes that till this day I still mourn his loss & miss him terribly. A white Dove has always appreared above me on beautiful days when Im thinking about my dad, or sad times Ive had. So, since Im barely gonna be experimenting with Resins...this was a sign from my dad like giving me his Blessing that this project will make me Happy & will be something good for me to do. I personally love both desings the flower resembles a Lotus which means rebirth & new beginnings. This video crossed my path at the right time in my life & gave me the motivation I needed to find a perfect hobby to try. I may also add like 2 wks vefore my fathers passing he gifted me a hand carved Dove made out of Seashell & told me a story that 1 day he would be flying free & peaceful like a White Dove with no cares, no worries anymore. 1 time I had it on my book shelf & it fell off onto the carpet, then I remembered my daddy had told me to always care for it as if it were him. So, I bought the smalledt lil.plastic co tainer with lid stuffed it with cotton balls & inserted the lil white dove in the middle to protect it & keeping it safe. So, for me to stumble on Resin Doves made from deodorant lids...Hence, I ran out of my Dove deodorant...never paid attention of the lids...But, for this reason I do love Dove & the Lotus type flower lid. Thank you for sharing your Awesome tips. P.S. Where can I buy the Dichro-ish paper & does it come cut confetti size & The resin you use where can I purchase it?
Hi. Just to let you know. Ive been silently watching your amazing videos & your absolutely brilliant skilful hands making these beutifull pieces. You inspire me, but alao at the same time about stop me from trying to make mine as i know how spot on yours are & i often think mine could & probly never would turn out as nice as these you make. Im only just starting out at trying to make some of these things as ive become partially disabled & i thought having a go at something like this will give me something to do & look 4wards to. But when i watch a master or as your a lady i wont say a master ide sooner say professional. Im inspired but i think i may not have enough time left in life to ever make them as lovely as you make yours. Keep up the good wook and il keep watching & trying to learn from you. Thank you. All the very best. Jim in the UK.
Oooh, that makes me so happy! Let me know if we can be of help along the way, and check out our website for lots of info and ideas for success with resin: www.little-windows.com/
I was floored when I saw this because I’ve been saving those things for poly clay projects, they are a perfect size and leaves your projects with perfect dome, what more could you ask for? I have learned some cool things by reading all the comments as well. So glad that I found you. Subscribed to your channel as well, don’t want to miss a thing.
The little plastic bits are probably HDPE which will say HDPE or have a number 2 inside the recycle symbol. Resin will not stick to it. HDPE makes many things around the house - milk jugs, plastic coffee cans, hershey syrup bottles etc. :P I also found two huge sheets of HDPE came with my stove when I got it delivered. I am using those as safety mats for when I work with resin to keep my table safe but also I can peel up the excess resin and cast it in something else. :D - Heidi
You are most welcome! There are a bunch of videos on UA-cam about working with HDPE and some even melt it down for various things including molds for resin. I want to try that but also scared of burning my house down. *laughs* Maybe after watching a few more HDPE melting videos I won't be as nervous about it. :)
Will do if I can remember. :) About to turn 45 in about a week so my memory isn't what it used to be. :) I have nettypreat for YT and Instagram and will upload results to either one of those but most likely Instagram. :)
I did make one and didn't burn my house down. My first try at melting didn't go so well because my temperature was too low. I googled the melting point of HDPE and got an answer - 266 degrees F seemed to work pretty well. I just used a rock as a test subject for the mold. The rock got a bit stuck though when it cooled but I did manage to warm it back up and fix it so I could get the rock out. The plastic was over the top of the rock and when it cooled it basically locked the rock in. When I warmed it again I moved the part over the rock and it came out easily after. I also cast resin in it and it popped out like it was buttered. :P I put a picture up of the mold and the resin cast from it - I used fast setting resin to test it due to impatience LOL - on my instagram - nettypreat
Ha! Another option for those who like for their projects to end up nicely centered would be to glue the screw/ring finding onto the cast piece, then put the final layer of resin around that finding :)
Oh my God I just find your channel snd I am in love already. You make awsome resin jewelry. I want to start practicing and I am watching a lot of videos to practice. Thanks. You have a new suscriber to your channel.
Thank you Carmen! I hope you have lots of fun, let me know if I can be of help, and be sure to check out all of our helpful hints and tips for working with resin :) - Fran www.little-windows.com/pages/new-project-ideas-and-how-tos
I'm new at this resin but I'm noticing you get really beautiful the Dove and The Impressions that you get your the first one that I've seen that it's been that pretty so how is it done
Once your resin is set completely, whether glossy or matte, you could add a fine layer of white acrylic paint to cover the "etched" part, let it dry for a minute, then wipe it off. It should stay in the etched portion, giving you an image that appears as a line drawing or etching. If you don't like it, you can wash it off with some slight scrubbing *not scraping*, but if you do like it, seal it with nail polish or a coat of resin. Or the UV resin.
Yet another gorgeous creation by our 'Queen of Resin'! Ms. Fran, I absolutely LOVE the matte finish the one mold created. What other way can we obtain that type of finish without having to use the deodorant mold? Keep your tips and tricks coming!
I love this. I think the logos are pretty and add to the piece. I’m definitely gonna try the sugru. I wonder if it could be used for making small molds.
Hi Jaybird, we think alike! I've been trying that too, making molds out of Sugru, but it's not working as well as the silicone putty made for mold making. I'll keep trying but it seems to stick to the resin a bit more than I'd like when casting. Should be good for simple shapes though, although it comes out frosted rather than shiny :)
Sugru is very expensive for this purpose. You can simply use ordinary craft clay to hold your mold while you pour the resin, or just nestle the mold down into some uncooked rice in a small container or cup. Alternatively, there are "recipes" for cheap home-made Sugru, commonly called "oogoo" (search here on UA-cam). Or, if you want a mold for your mold (!) use one of the less expensive silicone mold putties available at craft stores. Any of these alternatives is cheaper than using Sugru, which is outrageously priced.
or some hot glue to stable it, or any kind of clay, or some tape, or ton foil, or anything else that can be molded... like melting wax, and most of that people have laying around the house, for FREE 😉
I just love your videos and can't wait to get started with my projects. I have a question for you what kind of tray you are using and can I find it on Amazon. com or can I find it at Walmart or Hobby Lobby? Thank you and keep on making videos!
Hi Jennifer! In this video I'm using the inner caps from Secret and Dove deodorants, you'll find all of our other find molds at little-windows.com I hope that helps :) - Fran
Unless you meant this tray... Here's a link to our Silicone Doming Tray, it's so great for all sorts of projects - resin, painting, varnishing, polymer clay.... www.little-windows.com/collections/doming-trays/products/large-silicone-doming-tray There are discounts on multiples too, if you're making lots of things or you have friends who'd like one too :) - Fran
Love your videos. ..as I'm in the UK it's difficult to get all your great products. .. I would like to ask your advice if I may, I've just started to use resin and I'm finding any silver coloured pieces I use turn black in the resin days after, I've tried to precoat in mod podge , but didn't help....any advice would be great x
Why thank you Renda! They are lots of fun to make, here's a discount code you can use at www.little-windows.com/ to make some too: LW1019 Enjoy :) - Fran
I LOVE THIS VIDEO AND HAVE A DOVE CAP THAT I SO WANT TO TRY THIS BUT IT FEELS LIKE THE IMAGE OF THE DOVE IS ON THE BOTTOM WHERE THE BAR IS. IS IT STILL GOING TO COME OUT WITH THE IMAGE OF THE DOVE ON THE TOP WHERE I CAN FILL IN LIKE YOURS? I KNOW THAT SOUNDS KIND OF UNCLEAR BUT I CAN NOT FEEL THE IMAGE ON IN THE OVAL DIP. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG? PS WHAT KIND OF RESIN ARE YOU USING? I AM WORKING WITH EASY CAST.
So im learning that apparently your resin projects will inevitably turn yellow, why doesn't anyone talk about this? Im worried all my hard work is going to be ugly and unsellable. Even out of sun and in bags my stuff is changing. It seems like other ppl just sell their stuff before that happens and let the customer find out later. Is there anything that can be done to cured peices, perhaps like a spray? Any advice appreciated
ArtResin claims to be non-yellowing. Also, West has a system (105 resin with their 207 hardener, not 205) - often sold at marine supply stores. TAP Plastics has a clear resin for jewelry mold casting that they claim won't yellow called Clear-Lite. And some people use a marine clear top coat called AwlClear applied to resin objects to provide UV protection.
Hopefully someone can answer this but how do you get rid of the little nub in the middle? I tried using a knife and it just scratched it like I thought it might.
Oh no, I use an exacto knife on mine, but you can also 1) use a small dremel grinder or 2) cast as-is and then go over the raised or sunken design with resin painted on in just those areas, which will hide the nub dent. I hope this helps, please let me know how your next ones turn out :) - Fran
So I just buy Sugaroo for 23.99 plus shipping to make the free mold? I'll figure it out, probably was of gum haha Silly. But the cap idea is great thank you!
Hi Sandra! You're right, but I had just discovered Sugru and was using in on EVERYTHING - fixed my charger cord, added stops to my cupboard doors, made a cup holder, fixed the side-view mirror on my car and added a phone holder to my dashboard...... While I wouldn't recommend gum or silly putty as neither holds its shape, you could certainly use some sort of clay, or mount it to cardboard, etc. Have fun creating :) - Fran@little-windows.com
Well, it is if you use deodorant, if not we can include one with your next order, just let me know if you'd like the Secret or Dove :) fran@little-windows.com
You can also set your vessel in a bowl of uncooked rice to level it out.

I absolutely love these gorgeous creations. The draw pull is soooo gorgeous, I would wear it! - I’d love to see some elegant earring designs 👏👌
Thanks again Jessica!!
What a great idea! Thank you!
Gorgeous! 😊💕👍
those are beautiful ❤
Hi Fran, Thanks for the truly helpful Video. You always make it look so easy.
This is amazing. SOOOO resourceful! Love it!
Wonderful idea on the deodorant caps, I love the dove design, it looks very delicate. Definitively going to recycle and try new ideas. Thank you!

yes from dollar store
True, but I wanted something that would become a permanent base. Thanks for the tip, I'm sure it'll help others too :)

For ones that you would use as pendants what type of piece would you need to glue to the back?
Flat-back bails. 😊 Tons on Amazon.

@colorfultography you hairs gonna turn White like all kind of resin turns yellow one day dude!
colorfultography no if the piece is already made, then it won’t turn yellow. Resin only turns yellow if you don’t use it for a long time
I ordered a 6 oz resin set but i notice that the bottle is the same size as a 4 oz bottle.

Hi how do I get the secret resin mold.for free thanks
Interesting!!

So it is not free . . . 😨
Well, it is if you use deodorant, if not we can include one with your next order, just let me know if you'd like the Secret or Dove :)

yw!!
Why would anyone want molds with deodorant logos on it?
Are not these symbols copyrited ?
I'm not sure why I'd want a resin piece with a deodorant company's logo on it. . .
if you love bird you wanna recycled it and do the same!
You could prolly heat it to distort if u likr
