Jafterdark wow thanks so much! I’m just such a research and tester type person... always on the search to figure out the best way to approach things. It is the best software and trust me when I say I’ve tried allot of others.
Awesome video, please do more about your smart home. :) You are the the videomaker I have been looking for. Everything is done to perfektion. make more videos like this, and i will watch every single one of them.
Fantastic video outlining what can be accomplished with Home Assistant! One minor correction to a note that was on the screen - Alexa and Google Home do not require a $5 per month subscription. The subscription service is just there to make the process MUCH easier. It is possible to integrate both without paying a dime.
In the intro you have labels on your switches. What are those and where can you get them? They are awesome and nobody in my home remembers which switch does what.
Have you used Homeseer? I’ve been using it for almost 10 years, it is the tech tinkerer automation system of choice and integrates with pretty much everything.
Any general advice on best practices for Z-Wave via Home Assistant? I had a house full of Z-Wave devices working flawlessly with SmartThings. I removed and re-added them all to the Aeotec Z-Stick Gen5 and have had nothing but problems with Home Assistant (Hass.io). Devices will work one day then not the next. I'll get live status updates one day then not the next. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason for the success/failure. As far as I can tell OpenZWave is happy with all the devices in the network, its just the communication between Home Assistant and OZW that's unreliable.
It's always cool to see somebody that learned and now they're sharing great video

Glenn Morrison thanks for your comment. Is there a plug-in available for hassio to have this work with out a subscription?
@@MattTube There may be but it also required some additional work on the Google side. Check the component documentation. It's all there.

You don't have to buy HA Cloud you can setup Google Assistant and Alexa yourself
