Ooh extremely cool bit of info - even though I'm several years late to the party! In a couple of those more basic example pocket/strap use cases I can see how, in all likelihood sewing could both give a superior finish/actually be cheaper in a lot but not all cases depending on experience levels/what you've already got available. And yet all the possibilities opened up by attaching all the doodads, pockets, electronics and costume bits directly?! Worlds of possibility! Thanks so much for sharing!
Thank you that is brilliant I watched this with my daughter and she does cosplay and I have just got a 1,000 things just thrown at me, I tried to explain to her that I have to get a pen first we only have a printer. I did think about printing the pockets and using the pen to attach them to the material......... Thank you again for the idea 👍😎👍
@@PotentPrintables Yeah, that would definitly be cool. Most of them come in 3D printer refills though. I found 1 that I might buy myself that comes in little plastic bags. Great work mate, really like what you do and these ideas are really useful and can be applied to a lot of things, what temp does flex filament print at i have not used flexible filament before. not sure if you mentioned it but i missed if you did.
Let me share with you my experience: At the start of this year (March or May, don't remember), I got myself flex filament. And, for testing purposes, printed a small square on my home t-shirt. Successfully forgot about it. Until around half a year after (somewhere in August) suddenly discovering that square was still there despite all wearing and washing! Now, in November, writing this comment in the same t-shirt, looking at this square, I say that this works. Printing flex on fabric is a good idea, opens new possibilities. Of course, it came off slightly on the edges, but not much.
To some degree- it doesn't fuse to it like PLA to PLA would. A lot depends on the surface roughness of the PLA object (rougher the better). I'm going to be experimenting more with this in the future, so let me know if you try this and what you find. If your application allows, you can also add in many small thru holes to the PLA + fabric and put TPU thru both sides to anchor it in place.
This is brilliant mate, there are endless ideas for cosplay. I was thinking about 3d designs on tshirt but I am not sure how much strong will they be especially if they go into the washer. Are those designs made with tpu filament ?
Thanks, I thought you would like it. RClifeon did some 3D printing of flexible filaments on T-shirts, so you might want to check his video out on that. I believe he said they did not survive washing. I have washed one item a number of times, that I used a small patch of flexible filament on. So it might depend on how the flex filament is used/applied.
Is your 3D pen specially designed to use the TPU filament or are you using another configuration like ABS or PLA temperature? Also, if it isn't designed for TPU, is it going to damage the extruder or get cloged? I ask because I'm interested in TPU filament but my 3D pen says it only supports PLA and ABS. Thanks in advance.
The pen I use for TPU has adjustable temperature controls, so I just put it in the correct temperature range for TPU (which is near the range for ABS). I haven't seen any pen that specifically certifies for TPU. But I have been switching back and forth with PLA and TPU in the same pen for awhile now and haven't seen any issues or clogs.
The Pen you use the link says "Currently unavailable. We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock". Interesting Tutorial those pens looks useful Thank-you for your time and effort
@@PotentPrintables 10 month later, Scribbler's own website shows all their pens out of stock. The flexible TPU is likewise unavailable. Not just your vids: I've watched a few channels only to find the pens and materials being reviewed either unavailable or limited to PLA only. Just ordered myself a Gifort pen, and hope it turns out to be OK.

Awesome, I'm glad it gave you a bunch of ideas! Have fun with it :)

:) gogo
Mind blown. Thank you so much for this video! Would have never thought of using my pen for clothing.
You're so welcome!
can't wait to see complicated 3D prints attached to your fabric!
Dooope! I juts bought the 3Doodler and I can't wait to watch the rest of your videos..ima need the help. 🤣 thanx for your tutorials
How well does it hold up to washing?
I'm so grateful that you made these videos!
well that is so much faster than carving the spike and then pulling latex casts of it. I am intrigued by some of the ideas you are talking about.
Share pictures or videos if you try anything out, I'd be curious to see how it goes for you.
That is awesome stuff you are really good at that I am new to it so I listen to every word.
Please do more
Great video ali sir lots information
Thx for the idea!! Now I can make a cosplay costume!!
No problem! Share pictures if you can :)
Nice video! It'd be interesting to see what cool stuff you could think up of with glowing filament.
Thanks. Great idea about the glowing filament, could really be fun to play with!

fantastic work!

More videos for sewing! Have you seen the fabric that lights up? Its expensive but waaay cool....

Thanks appreciate it. Hope you can do something fun with these ideas. TPU (flexible filament) usually works from 210-230 deg C.
Wow! I love this!
Good video. Do one on led with chargeable battery and charge port.
Great video thanks
Just got 3d pen gonna try some these

In the word of the emperor. Do it!
Ha, as you command!
Could you do a extra Video on the electronics?
I want to use some Electronics in a normal 3D modell but I don‘t know how to do that.
Is the garment washable?
what is the filament that you are using her? for the blue spikes?
It's blue flexible filament (also called TPU filament). There is a link in the video description.
Thx I need this gide

Will a pen that can print ABS be hot enough for TPU?
Yes, it should be.
what custum are you trying to meke?
Makes me think if you can print with PLA and origami mechanical cuts.
Does this work with things like Vinyl or faux/real leather?
And also do these kinds of plastic sand well?
The rougher/coarser the material, the better it will work. I think Vinyl will not work very well because it is smooth. Faux leather might work.
I haven't tried sanding flexible filament much. You can smooth it with a wood burning tool.
Would this filament work with a mynt 3d pen
Nice❤️❤️❤️
Thanks!

Thank you!
Can we wash and ironing the costume after that?
Hand washing is possible.
