This is actually a really good take on 2nd person. Many have had their own interpretation on what it is on UA-cam, but this is definitely the most accurate. Great work you, fir, and crafty!
2nd person narration is where the reader is a character in a story. 2nd person perspective would logically be the perspective of another observing you.

I know smant doesnt actually read these comments and these VODs tend to be from like months ago, but for this playthrough to have technically been pure 2nd person, smant would have to be telling fir (or vice versa) what to do in the game, and then fir or smant doing that thing. would be another fun challenge to do 🤩

Just to clear up the deal with 2nd person as most people aren't aware. 2nd person narration is where the reader is a character in a story. 2nd person perspective would logically be the perspective of another observing you in the game.
Is 2nd person *not* when the narration describes things from your perspective? Such as "You hold the book and open it." Like Choose Your Own Adventure books.

Man I was hoping it would be my idea of second person, the person in of the first person (so basically a Mario face cam)
I’m pretty sure this would be considered 4th person perspective, rather than 2nd person perspective. For it to be 2nd person, one person would be playing blind while the other describes what is happening, while in 4th person it describes the acts of a group the narrator is included in, which might be closer to what this is.

you're focusing too much on the "describing" aspect of things rather than applying it to the logic of perspective in the game. there's no reason why second person would require the absence of visual queues at all. you're watching the game from the perspective of someone else, that's about as close as we're gonna get.
4th person is arguably also sort of represented here, but it's more complicated than that because "we" is the same for everyone involved; fir and smant would have the same perspective. i'd argue the closest we have to that is splitscreen Mario Kart style.

Well, it depends on how you want to describe some terms.
In English, there is a concept of Third Person Proximate and Third Person Obviative. Proximate refers to the person that you are telling a story about while obviative refers to someone who is surrounding the person you are telling the story about. So if you are telling a story about Mario, Mario would be proximate. However, the random toad Mario talks to would be obviative.
However, English doesn’t actually differentiate between these two types of third person. Third person encapsulates both of these perspectives. There are other languages that do differentiate between Proximate and Obviative though and they are usually treated as just a different perspective. It makes complete sense to call Third Person Proximate something like "True Third Person" and Third Person Obviative "Fourth Person". The only reason why they're both called third person in English is just because Third Person encapsulates both so in English they are subcategories of Third Person. But in other languages, they could be considered 3rd and 4rth.
Since you are controlling the Mario that is not being focused on, it makes sense to call this Third Person Obviative or Fourth Person

To continue your pedantry, the two types of third person perspective are often confused for “fourth person perspective” in English, but they are not one in the same, which can most easily be described as “telling a story from an entire groups perspectives simultaneously.”
Until Dawn, or at least, parts of it come to mind as a pretty decent example of this, especially when there are multiple characters in scene at the same time.
For easy reference:
1: “I”
2: “You”
3: “They”
4: “We”
So:
“I went to the store and bought milk.” = 1st person
“You went to the store and bought milk.” = 2nd person
“Mario went to the store and bought milk” = 3rd person
“We went to the store and bought milk.” = 4th person

While there is 1st, 2nd, and 3rd person,,, each can be split up into Singular and Plural. The type of 'fourth person' that focuses on a group of people,,, is just a plural version of a perspective.
Usually it ends up being 3rd person plural, however you went with the more odd decision to go with 1st person plural.
If you mean something closer to 'a story from no one's perspective in particular', that feels like that would be 3rd Person Omniscient Plural.
Honestly, i would be inclined to say this is 6th person lmao, and heres why: originally you play smo in 3rd person. But now your playing from somone else's 3rd person. So therefore, my ultimate conclusion is....... This challenge go brrrrr
