I have been watching Black Expat videos for years. This is the most genuine video that I have ever seen. It felt like I was getting advice from members of my own family. Thank you for posting.
What a beautiful couple you are. I lost my mom a few years ago but my parents would be together 55 years if she was still with us. Watching you interact, is very reminiscent of the relationship my folks had. It's lovely to see the wonderful life you've made for yourselves in Panama. Thank you both for sharing your story!
What a lovely couple! They remind me of my aunt and uncle. I can understand missing their family because it's tough not seeing your loved ones often. I wonder if they are happy now with their decision to return to the US because I think that it's gotten worse during the time they've been in Panama. May God Bless and keep them.
You guys are the happiest couple we've watched describe their Panama experience. Everything you said is right on point. Six yrs ago, My husband, I and another couple rented a very nice house for 1 week in Coronado and had the best time. Although we had rented a car, one day, we took public transportation to go into Panama City to avoid dealing with the traffic. We walked to la Carretera Panamericana and caught one of those private buses. We fell in love with Panama and have been dreaming about retiring there. However. Now that i am 2 yrs away from retirement but have 4 grandchildren, I am getting cold feet. After seeing you, I am tempted to do just a 1-yr stint. I wish you the best and, if you're still over there when I make it, our path might just cross :)
I fully understand the fact that you miss your family BUT remember it's been 17yrs lots of things have change, including family everyone have their own things going on and life here has Really changed. Wish you all the best.
I am bummed out actually! I was there somewhere before 2003, maybe 2001 or 2002. I didn’t do anything right. I didn’t have enough money to do much either. Now I lost most all I did accumulate since and now I am contemplating going back there. Crap!! I wish I had had a crystal ball. I guess what my dad used to say is best at this point. “If wishes were horses, beggars would ride.” Dad.
What a great couple and awesome video. Congratulations of your 55 years of marriage. You seem like best friends! I pray all goes well when you return back to the United States. Leaving all that plush green, fresh air, organic foods and very kind people....but I understand family love. Praying all the best!
I got here and I am living in the city for the past seven weeks on the Balboa Boulevard on the pacific ocean wonderful view from my bedroom. I miss the hot water, but I think I am going stay here for what's left of the rest of me. I lived on 5th avenue in Manhattan. this is paradise comparing.

Ife and Damani shared some very important aspects Panama. Panama is one of the countries my daughter is considering relocating to and is encouraging me to relocate with her because she doesn't want to leave me behind. After viewing Ife and Damani and the other videos today I'll seriously examine Panama as a first choice.
What a wonderful 17-year journey you two have had! Missing family can be tough, especially given the pandemic, so all the best in reuniting with them back in the states. Thanks for taking the time to share your experiences in Panama. I could just listen to you for hours lol. Be well, beautiful souls...💕
Congratulations on 55 yrs of marriage. So sad to hear you two are returning to the states. But I understand being away from your family. We are retiring in 2 yrs and going on Jackie's tour next year. I have been following you two whenever you are on UA-cam. I'm enjoying your book "Clandestine". Peace and many continued Blessings!
In viewing your video, I decided to look up homes for sale in your neighborhood, and noticed your home is for sale? As happy as you both are in the video, this really surprised me.
Lahnman and the surrounding areas have changed a lot. So much new construction. Hopefully you won’t be back to Lanham, MD cause you will be in for a shock. I live 3 miles from Lanham, MD. Hi Ife and Damani. it was nice to hear you talk about you experience of Panama. Me and the wife has been researching and have plans to explore living moving to Panama. Jackie is an awesome lady, I have been watching her for several years and her knowledge is impeccable. i enjoy listening to her professional once this crazy Corvid is under control, we will be contacting her to setup a relocation tour possible a private one for a few days, once they become available.
We explained: after 17 years, it's time to be closer to family. Unfortunately, they aren't interested in relocating to Panama, so...... Where in Azania do you live?
Beautiful couple who seem content and at peace. Maybe a better plan would be for your kids to start moving to Panama if they can, as the US is getting more and more difficult to live in. Expensive, and psychologically, physically and politically unhealthy.
If that were possible, that would be a great option for us. But for them,... maybe not. Plus it is also the kids, grands and great-grands, and other family like Ife's and my cousins.

My mom wanted to know if you brought all (or most) of the furniture with you or if you purchased it in Panama. Basically, how much did you bring with you when you moved to Panama? Also, and I don’t know if this is an appropriate question here, but how much are you asking for your home? Thank you so much for sharing your experiences with us!

Beautiful couple. Congrats on your life together. You are extremely intelligent and your decision must and should be respected. My only advice to you as someone who tried to return home to the Caribbean, is to maybe visit a few times before making that final decision. With the situation in the States, it "could be" that the family would, in a number of years consider "departing" the US. I am Canadian( emigrated to Canada at age 19), married to an American with grown kids. Our only issue in Canada, now that we are retired is the long cold Alberta winters. Our kids and grandkids are hoping that we choose somewhere tropical, hence researching Panama, so that they have options later in life. Not to have to spend the winters here. You are happy in Panama buti also understand missing family. That will not be our problem. But sunny Florida or anywhere in America, will no longer be a retirement option for us, never mind my hubby was born in Detroit. The past 4 years has really shown the world the real America especially for our people. People of colour. Peace and happiness to you.

Wondering if you can become a naturalized citizen in Panama. Some said even though you have lived in Panama full-time, for a dozen years, your naturalization application does not get approved.
We shipped an entire houseful of furniture and household goods. Along with an auto, it filled a full container. It worked for us, but if we had to do it over again, we'd bring a lot less.
Contractors/repairman do not show up or call in the US either. Roads are full of potholes in the US and there's really no plans to fix them. Life has changed in the US the past 17 years. Rent out your house instead of selling. You might want to move back to Panama after being back a year or so. I and a lot of others are longing to escape the US.
Hello I’m watching your video it looks beautiful my name is Andre Jefferson I’m retired Army and I’m thinking about getting away from the rat race I live in Tucson Arizona but I’m getting a little tired of the crazy people in the lifestyle just wanna slow down return and 63 so just wanted to know what you think
As Jackie said, you'll be amazed. It's always a matter of personal taste and choice, so, Andre.... Come on down to Panama and see if it's a good fit for YOU!!!
You can live humbly and inexpensively in areas near us as well. There are small 2 bedroom homes on the road to our place that are quite affordable, and some are probably for rent as well.
@@Keene4HowardTrustee i appreciate that, but every individual that I have interacted with regarding my searches has pulled away. Leaving me with the impression that I might be wasting my time. People the world over are searching for their nest. Thing is, the realtors don't see much profit to be made from helping me. Not being cynical, just what I am encountering.
@@pawshands9706 Don't be discouraged by that. Keep in mind, at the same time, that some of us have had the experience of giving of our time and information and then having folks who were interested suddenly vanish...never to be heard from again. Research and questions are good and necessary, but there is no substitute for visiting to get a feel of the place. So,....come on down and look around. The two bedroom homes I mentioned are on the edge of Bejuco, a 3 minute (and cheap) taxi ride from the Inter-American Highway. They are brand new. >> Bejuco is where we turn off the highway to come to Sora (11 miles up the road), where we live.
I'll remember that!!! We tried bread to no avail. I sincerely hope it never happens again! I am very careful when I eat this wonderfully fresh and tasty fish here: corvina, pargo rojo (red snapper), robalo. I just fried some robalo last night and it was DEE-LISH!!!!
What a lovely couple and a lovely serene home! But, to leave that to come back to America is a Huge mistake! This place is in chaos and is a constant assault on your peace of mind. America has spiritual and moral cancer!!

Really good advice but it's hard to be a long distance landlord.
You should come check out Panama! You'll be amazed!
As Jackie said, you'll be amazed.
It's always a matter of personal taste and choice, so, Andre....
Come on down to Panama and see if it's a good fit for YOU!!!
I am on a fixed income but still cannot find an area outside of big cities/towns where I would be able toive humbly.
Volcan, Dolega, David and Las Tablas are all very affordable
I just noticed that the video above begins on the road I mentioned. - just a little past the home I referred to.
I would house sit for them, in case they change their mind and want to return ;)
I had a fish bone stocked in my throat once and a banana did the trick!
We hear you! Where do you live? Why are you still there?
Don't return to US, u will be making a mistake. Inflation 8% this year alone. No one can afford to retire in usa. They all moving out of usa.
Thanks for the advice....
