The object there wouldn't easily tip over, and you gotta think further: You can see in the motion of the cat, that it only wants to race up the stairs, and doesn't want to get blocked by an obstacle, so it has no reason to hit it. Looking at it's motion, you can clearly see, none of it's moving energy gets tranferred/lost in transfer to that object, the object basically falls by itself. The cat bypasses it without touching, but it falls. And in further context, if this video was real: What did the guy start the recording for? Besides being a dick to the cat, it doesn't seem like he is starting a performance.
