i feel like ppl need to lean into the maximalist energy when they use this pack as a main pack in a build - using opposite and similar colors in a specific fashion is definitely a skill tho

I agree! I find this pack so easy to use but eclectic maximalism is my style. I guess I didn’t realize how difficult it could be if it’s not your typical style.
Yeah maximalism is the total opposite of my style XD I'm very much matchy-matchy IKEA showhome. So I reeeally struggle, but I admire other people's skills!
The bold and dark colors were actually REALLY beautiful. It really reminded me of New Orleans in a way. And when the bedroom was white and red, I thought it was STUNNING ! Its a shame it looked strange to Kayla, it looked quite lovely to me

She always does this, where she says she likes a certain pack with a distinct style, but then struggles and ends up using the same colour scheme (blue...) she always uses, specially with Paranormal and Vampires packs. It's a shame that she doesn't like the colour red, because that is a very normal colour people do use in their decor.

Oh wow, I've never really thought about it but I think Paranormal, Crystal Creations, and Realm of Magic could be really pretty together! That's such a good idea!
I love the layout and shape of the house and how perfectly it fits into Willow Creek. However... This pack BEGS its users to embrace maximalism and play with bold colours, and i AM a little sad kayla backed out of those choices several times to go with something safer and a little plainer. Would love to see another limited pack build with this and some similar packs like crystal creations and see how it ends up!
This is pretty, but I think it's a bit of a shame to make a paranormal build and not lean into the darker jewel tones
The dark and moody in the beginning was so vibey and fun, reminded me a little of vintage Ralph Lauren fashion colors and prints which is so different and fun

7:30 yet another Simsie build with so much potential to be dark turned into light. It's starting to be more iconic than the light blue houses XD
Hoping one day she *really* embraces the maximalist style, she was so close with the dark colors and jewel tones. The. She made it light and beige 😭 I know it’s closer to her style, but it looked so good before😭 at least the combination of the furnishings were good
paranormal is hands down the best pack. gameplay, *cas*, lore, even the build buy simply cannot miss. it's pretty much the only pack that i never play without

Honestly I think the deep red theme in that bedroom was GORGEOUS. I want to download this house, but if I do I honestly might swap it back to the darker color scheme, at least in that room! It was just so rich and beautiful looking! That said, I do love the style and vibes of this house. You really embraced the New Orleans exterior and I looooove that look. Plus, I agree that the Paranormal pack is one of the best packs the Sims team has made! Every part of it is just so incredible. And I love this build that uses all of it!

lilsimsie was so close to doing something completely different and cool, then she says its weird and goes back to white suburban
I kind of love where it was hedding with the black counter tops, but my heart sank when she made it all white😭, still I get that not many share my love for dark tones in the home I detest white and beige and all the light woods it feels a bit mental asylum to me😅.
@@hypnotherapy69Same! All the white and gray and light wood that's "in trend" now, feels so clinical to me. I like dark woods and rich colors, they feel cozy and homey.
it was so disappointing. when she goes out of her comfort zone, she really does do amazing and unique builds!

I love the limited pack builds. I think I fun variation on this theme would be to do some builds that use 1 expansion pack, one game pack and one stuff pack as that is a popular sale bundle
I wonder if pulling up a Pinterest board of similar home interiors (with all the jewel colors and maximalist patterns etc) while building would be helpful! Sometimes it DOES look weird until everything is totally finished and an inspo board could help guide the vision past that weird phase.

The dark on dark saturated color scheme with the ornate Victorian trims and furnishings reminds me of old plantation homes here in the South. Specifically the historical homes in Georgia, Alabama, Kentucky and Louisiana. The styling of the paranormal pack is absolutely immaculate.
Have never once played with a haunted house but use the items and cas soooooo much. They’re so good.
I dont understand the obsession with everything matching like surely irl people dont have entirely matching rooms
So many people slowly accumulate furniture over time, so it's different wood tones and colors. I know none of my furniture matches, it's such a variety of stuff from different eras.
I do XD like, my living room is entirely grey, white, a bit of black, and red accents and an oak floor. Bedroom is a lighter floor and light brown walls, but then all the wood and the bed frame is dark brown, also red and white accents. It's really coordinated because that's what I like. I love seeing other people do different styles irl or in game though, it's just not my preference. This build, to me, was so much better before she changed it, that dark flooring was gorgeous.
i meann the problem is, you took a pack that is full of colorful, interesting swatches and tried to make everything match and look 'normal'. that just was never going to work with this pack in particular because thats not the point of it.. i think its interesting that you decided to base the build off of white base game curtains idk. this genuinely isnt meant to be hate, i just wish youd get out of your own head sometimes because things always look better than you think!

Paranormal is such a good pack, great value for the cost, and the build items are soooo good. If I don't monitor myself I'll use the couch and kitchen table/chairs in every build, seriously. The items are so pretty!

Serious question, is everything in Kayla's house matching with exact same colours and tones? So many of her builds I've watched Kayla gets very stuck on the concept of everything matching and it means she changes interesting builds into the same ones over and over - like the jokes with "the blue suburban" . Asking to understand, not to denigrate.
I assume (no clue really just guessing) that she tries to make her builds as uncontroversial as possible so that most of her followers like the build and want to download it? And matching everything / a single color way is the easiest way to make a house look good

Only a minute in and I can't stop giggling over 'some fancy-oh *NO*' which just cracks me up for some reason.
Someone mentioned this before, but you usually do base game only, one pack only, or free for all (20 packs). I would love to see a limited pack build. Using maybe 3 packs that you think go together, so if we have one pack, we might see what other packs could expand our builds.

1:09 it wouldn’t be uncommon for homes in New Orleans to be colorful. The pack is based off of the style and architecture of New Orleans. Also, Willow Creek is based off of New Orleans. Even, Guidry is a common last name down here. Even though everyone pronounces it wrong. It’s (Gid-dree).

......Kayla? Do you not know that there's a dining table in the pack? It has the same shape and legs as the seance table, but a totally different table cloth and actually functions as a dining table.
PLEASE make a haunted house! It would be cool if you let yourself do one without limits on packs and get creative. Would love to watch your process!

this house reminds me of historic charleston houses!!
Parquet floorings are so intricate and beautiful they are very very popular here on the East Coast in New York and places like New Jersey Massachusetts Washington DC, etc. Parquet flooring is beautiful. Here we are known for for the feeling wood paneling on 15 foot ceilings or more the only thing I wish we had in the pack because I love the bills items in the paranormal pack but I wish the new wallpaper came with white baseboard or wood colored baseboards. Every wallswatch has a different color baseboard like black or gray or yellow like you can't match it to any other base game and no house is meant to be covered in only wallpaper everywhere. it needs to be an accent but you can't use it with any other wallpapers in the game because it doesn't match any baseboa the problems collapse rd it's insane
