@@harshitsaini8245 Mendis was a big headache not only for Indians but also for every batsmen. Nobody had idea on what he was doing with his fingers as he gives minimum changes in variations.
But once he got decoded.. Indian batsmen especially.. Sehwag and Yousuf Pathan just pulverized him.
He could never come back after that.

Innovation is also delivering a superior product with better quality and out beating your competitors . Right now the best spin innovator is R Ashwin... He his in fact better than Shane Warne . the seam up flipper which swung in last cricket world cup was one such eg. Warne did not even understand what he was doing when he was talking about Ashwins bowling. By 50 test matches he will be the fastest wicket taker in history of cricket if he can just do what he does and that is simply to Innovate.

I have seen interviews of him where he speaks about Ashwins bowling without understanding the difference between doosra and carrom ball.
According to your definition innovation is just invention, then in that case Carrom ball must have been long discovered at tennis ball cricket where you just flick it as Ashwin pointed out. This is not innovation. Innovation happens when you understand your constraints and based on thorough research you come up with a solution which helps you beat all competitors.
Look at the video again where he talks abt positioning of Index finger ( for orientation ) and usage of middle finger to impart spin. This is the innovative part. He also mentions, I have seen all Mendis video, he just flicks the ball (unconsciously) which also happens in gully cricket. May be Mendis got some initial success but he could not sustain it because he did not do as much research as Ashwin on how to improve upon his flick and seam positioning. In other words he failed to be innovative.
This is where innovation comes. At the end of day Ashwin is providing results, and tangible ones and where is your Ajanta Mendis? Once people figured out Mendis action, they picked him easily and smashed him big time. He his also not part of Srilanka Cricket team now. Mendis did not patent Carrom ball for your god sake. SO stop giving that to us.
I can also give you other examples in other industries, Microsoft did not introduce mouse, it was introduced by a company called xerox but Microsoft innovated on it and made it into a better product. Same things with Apples touch technology, it was a very old technology and Apple innovated on it to come up with brilliant touch screens.
And again stupid, Ashwin is not lecturing about invention here nor did he claim that Carrom ball was my invention. Ashwin is talking about being innovative. This is what sets him apart from other spinners. Infact, he his better innovator than people like Shane Warne, who talks without understanding how a doosra is different from carrom ball. May be Shane Warne thought talking on TV is as simple as abusing some of his girl friends and people don't take notice of it, but I fucking do.
