This song made me choke up. "True Colors" made me outright cry. And now, just 30 minutes ago, VoicePlay released "Creep" and I'm sobbing like a baby. I swear, Cesar comes in two moods: Sass King flirting with you through the camera, and fragile angel pouring his broken soul out so he can heal. My heart can't take this.

Gorgeous, ethereal rendition of one of the best songs ever! I’ve said it before: This is the best version of this song I’ve ever heard! What is wrong with people?! VPs version should be played EVERYWHERE.
Geoff arranged this one at Cesar's request. And Geoff was crying while editing it. And who can blame him. When this came out I'd just given up on a realtionship of 15 years, and you can imagine the tears. It's easier to watch now., but not much. Now you need to see their latest, Creep. which shows off their insecurities. Keep the tissues handy. :)
I loved their cover of Creep
Having them all in different rooms really highlights the lyrics. I also love it when Layne sings. It was really hot day and poor Cesar was on the second floor.
EJ also performed with them earlier : Go the Distance from Disney’s Hercules. Under-rated and gorgeous. The camaraderie between them all is so sweet.
If you have trouble with sad Geoff, the new one is going to destroy you. Eli arranged it and it is gorgeous- and heartbreaking. Anthony Gargiula is the featured artist and he and Eli play off each other so well. (But Cesar wins the Oscar. 😭)
This is how I interpreted the different feelings from each of them in this song
Cesar - heartbroken
EJ - Pleading
Eli - Anger/Fighting to stay
Geoff - Acceptance

Geoff said editing this made him cry. Cesar just has those puppy eyes that make you want to cuddle him. I would love to hear him sing Unforgettable because I bet he'd come extremely close to Nat King Cole's silky voice.
Their ability to churn out heartbreakers in between their other, more theatrical stuff is amazing. This is one of my favourites and I couldn't wait to see you react to this. It's simply beautiful. EJ was just perfect in this; he sings with so much soul. And having Layne sing instead of beatbox gave it a much more traditional acapella feel. We've all been in a relationship like this and it resonates so strongly. Tissues and wine at the ready. Totally worth it. Every. Time.

Edit: to accentuate the sadness in this song, notice that there are never two or more of them in the same room for the entire video. They had some group shots, but opted to not use them, and boy did it pay off
I think the reason this has such low numbers is because "we" the audience are afraid of admitting emotions. This is absolutely beautiful and more emotional than the original. Voiceplay can move us in any genre and they do it so well. Thanks for your reaction.

Layne has a very wistful and gentle voice when he wants it to be. He kills me in True Colors.
And apparently, Cesar has the same problem. Cesar was telling us about a live show they were rehearsing for and it turns out that Cesar can’t be looking Layne in the eye during that song…I swear Cesar teared up just talking about it.
Creep will blow your mind! This song hasnt had the love some of the otherss have i think because it is so beautifully painful. The heartbreak was conveyed that most people felt at some time or another. It is too good to listen to repeatedly.

Yes we have all been there. The whole it doesn't matter what you do or did, it is over. Making you wonder if you will ever find love or if anyone could love you I'd the person you love most does not when you gave them everything you are. I can tell you it hurts nearly as much to watch your children go through the same pain you couldn't protect them from as it is part of life and growing up.
I hope you know I would never wish that pain on you or anyone else. I hope you find the right person and they love you as much as you while heartedly deserve as I wish for all your viewers. Be loved, be yourself, and be happy with who you are.

I think this one is an understated masterpiece - so gorgeous. Cesar wanted this one and I'm so glad he got the first voice. This song is filled with angst and heartbreak and boy do they deliver. Just stunningly beautiful.
Please prepare yourself for "Creep." We get an even more emotional Cesar and sad/introspective Geoff. Eli and Anthony playing off each other and of course, Layne doing his thing. I'm a little bit in love with Layne. I can't help it, lol. ❤ These guys really know how to get us in the feels!
One of the other reactors I watch said that this song made them feel like they were going through a breakup and the were happily engaged. It's a very powerful song. Speaking of an emotional song, VP just released their cover of Creep by Radiohead. Warning, bring a box of tissues.....
The whole song is masterfully done, but I am so glad they gave such a long solo to Cesar at the beginning. The fragility and sadness that he builds with his gorgeous vocals goes a long way toward making this one of my three favorite VoicePlay songs (if not my favorite). I knew it was going to melt you.
The first VoicePlay song I heard was We Don't Talk About Bruno, which got my attention. This was the second one, and it made me think, Okay. I need to follow these guys and learn more, I'm hooked!" Because if they could do such drastically different songs in tone and style so deftly, they were worth folowing. Haven't looked back since. They continue to blow my mind.

I just wanted to give Cesar a hug after this. Geoff said he wept when he edited it. Notice they're physically alone as well as emotionally. They filmed a group shot but decided not to use it because it didn't fit the story of the song as well.
Bonnie's original never moved me the way this one does. I think since they only have voices, not instruments, they can focus on the words more to tell the story of the song.

I'm not sure, but I think this may be one of a very few (if not only) VP cover with NO percussion from Layne, apart from the finger snaps - and it's absolutley beautiful..! This one was Cesar's pick to do, and he nailed it!
Happy energetic songs are great, but when you can sing a song that really makes you think and explore your emotions, thats a true mark of a master.

I'm commenting again... I just want to say I love watching your videos! If people think you pause too much, uh...NO! This is a reaction, right?! You have the same reactions I do, and you express them very well. Like I said before, I love the "SIR!!!" you do :) Of course, I'm probably used to frequent stopping and commenting - my college roommate was a music major, and she had the best stereo in the music department (of a small college, 12 music majors). I can't begin to count the number of times I came home to our apartment and found the entire music dept camped out in our living room, music scores stretched out in front of them, talking about the techniques - my favorite is the 5-1 of classical music. (Don't get me started on Rachmaninov and Mahler, I could rival many musician discussions with knowledge and absolute reverence for them). Anyway, your pausing is much more my style - I know music theory, but I am much more of a linguist than a musician, so I love how you put your feelings into words. i know i'm 8 months late and you're probably not reading comments on this video anymore, but of all your reactions that i've seen so far, this one meant the most to me. music makes me feel things, sure - i get hype, or inspired, or melancholy, or whatever - but i have trouble connecting to those feelings in a way that makes them feel like they're mine, if that makes sense? i think it's an autism thing. but anyway, what i was trying to get at is that witnessing you having this profound emotional reaction in a way that really seems to sit in your body and connect in a way that i don't experience, and then you going out of your way to verbalize what you were experiencing, allowed me to vicariously experience that emotional moment through you, and i can't thank you enough for that.
