The fact that tommy only got a few scenes in the karate kid and in Cobra Kai and make you feel so much for this character seeing him beaten by time and bad health just breaks my heart, amazing writing can do that.
Season 2 episode 6 “Take a right” is the best episode in all 3 seasons so far. Words of wisdom coming from Tommy, find someone new and turn your life around Johnny. you are the champ! The most epic dialogue in the whole series.

This is what I love about the creators, even though Bobby, Tommy and Jimmy were minor side characters, they still wanted them to be part of the Cobra Kai story, even all these years later. I’d imagine being one of those actors being absolutely thrilled that someone actually remembered my character haha. Who could forget “get him a body bag!” Or how Bobby was the merciful cobra.
What's ironic is that Jimmy was the least prominent out of the 5 in the original movie, yet here he's revealed to live a happy life unlike: - Johnny, who went on a downward spiral prior to the show - Tommy, who later dies - Dutch, who's in prison Bobby has a better life, but I can imagine that he became a priest to let go off his inner demons
Bobby, Tommy, Jimmy and Dutch were not minor side characters. They were major side characters. They had as much screen time as Johnny did. They could have brought them back they just didn’t want to
I hated Tommy in the original Karate Kid and, while they say karma is a bitch, I wouldn't wish this kind of death on my worst enemy. Interestingly enough, the actor who played Tommy, Rob Garrison, passed away in 2019 from kidney and liver failure. Very sad, but I'm glad he got to be around long enough to be Cobra Kai one more time. Also, I wonder if Bobby shaved his head to support Tommy.
No, I think Bobby (like his actor in real life) went naturally bald. You can tell the difference between a guy who shaves his head and a guy who goes bald.
Tommy always stood alongside Johnny in the Karate Kid film as a bro RIP to Tommy and to the actor Rob Garrison. Now Tommy is learning some Miyagi-Do in heaven.
My dad was the same way when he was in hospital. His first heart attack he was just so rude and angry but then when he was failing and there for his second stay ,he knew he wasnt going to make it and he behaved and was polite to the staff
He doesn’t hate the nurse it’s just that her very presence is another reminder of how cancer took away his ability to care for himself and that he’s dying.
I loved that it showed one of the positives that Kreese actually taught them. He was military in many way badly in how he taught. But he also taught brotherhood, that soldiers in battle have with each other. He was vocal about that. Kreese hurt them in most ways he taught them. But unbeknownst to them, Kreese's teachings about brotherhood are why they were so tight years later to rally around Tommy.
Probably the best episode of season 2. It’s nice seeing these two dimensional background characters from the original movies actually become some of my favorite characters in this series.
This was a very special episode, I love reunions. And Tommy, he is surely missed, at least he got to do one special thing, to go have one last ride with his boys.
A shame Chad McQueen wasn't able to return as Dutch...glad they figured out a storyline to explain his absence, and how appropriate for him to be the one in prison lol
