According to Wikipedia, Monte Gordo is a Portuguese parish of the county of Vila Real de Santo António, with 4.12 km² of area and 3308 inhabitants (2011). The village was elevated on June 12, 2001.
Just 3 km from Vila Real de Santo António, this former fishing village, nestled between a vast pine forest and the sea was a pioneer in tourism exploration in the Algarve, with the construction of one of the region's first hotels in the '60s (Hotel Vasco da Gama) and therefore was for several decades a destination of choice for the Portuguese aristocracy and famous (eg Ingrid Bergman).
After the Carnation Revolution of 1974, it became a favourite summer destination for the Portuguese middle class. With an extensive and beautiful beach, a mild climate and several pedestrian zones, in Portuguese sidewalk, Monte Gordo is one of the main tourist destinations of the Algarve. The fact that it is located in a bay makes the sea relatively calm and one of the safest beaches for children in the Algarve. The average air temperature ranges from a low of 11 ° C in January to a high of 26 ° C in August, while the average sea temperature ranges from a low of 16 ° C in February to a high of 22 ° C between July and September, making this the maritime beach with the warmest sea in mainland Portugal.
Monte Gordo also offers other leisure activities, such as the casino, and a large number of bars and restaurants where you can enjoy the Algarve's gastronomic cuisine, rich in fish and local seafood.

Monte gordo é á 12 anos a minha praia de eleição pois tenho um neto que adora montegordo desde os seus 4meses que vamos de férias para Montegordo e adoramos por tudo e mais ainda. O piso é sempre mais ou menos plano, temos tudo perto, em poças palavras : É fantástico adoramos

Passei duas semanas nesta terra e pretendo não voltar ,não há um lugar vazio de parque para estacionar(grátis) muito mau mesmo!

Olá. Conheço há muito tempo montegordo. No mês de Julho, agosto até 15 de setembro é impensável ir para lá de férias. Só passando e tomar uma cerveja numa esplanada e fora. Mas no outono no inverno e primavera é espectacular. Passei lá bastante tempo de lazer com o turismo do norte da europa que vem no inverno para aquele clima ameno. Adoro montegordo , como todo o Algarve que admiro bastante. Por vezes o timing em que chegamos a um local é o errado. Boas férias.
