14:01 Tala Merçi Ba Pesaka Na Mbua (Lutumba Simaro)

42:33 Oh Miguel (Franco)
49:44 Testament Ya Bowule (Lutumba Simaro)
After having seen the orchestra play to a Zaïrean audience in a Brussels nightclub only three weeks earlier, this show was a huge disappointment to me. In Brussels, there had been room for subtlety and intimacy, that show had lasted for nearly 7 hours and the mixing had been excellent, because the person at the soundboard understood the music. They had been playing a home match.
This concert in Utrecht, however, was more like going to the zoo for the audience (actually, the festival took place in a hall built over an ice-rink) and playing an away match for the orchestra. The mix was horrible because, to name one detail, the heart of the music, Franco's guitar, was practically inaudible. So to me, the only songs worth listening to here, are the ones in which Franco does not touch his guitar: Kinsiona, Oh! Miguel and Testament Ya Bowule, in which Franco does not participate at all, but which is partly spoilt by a member of the audience who does not have a clue this is a particularly sad song.
Anyway, since clips from this show are all over YT at a quality level that defies description, I decided to post this anyway. On the box of the video it says: "Durée: 85 mn", but it lasts for only 59 minutes. When Franco signed the deal to play at this festival, he signed away the rights to the recordings. Ntesa Dalienst and several musicians involved with whom we discussed LP's, cd's and videos recorded that day, were upset about these releases.

the greatest team to have ever graced this earth
thank you mr AboubacarSiddikh
Great Respect to Franco and TB Ok jazz!
Franco basically is the father of congolese music! I like that part when he introduces Madilu System!
Nope. That honour goes to Joseph Kabasele and Congolese musicians acknowledge that fact without dispute. He is the unquestionable father of Congolese music.
@@georgeodhiambo598 we didn't ask for your opinion
@@owenonzee You and who didn't ask for my opinion? Mine is not even an opinion but a statement of fact. If you are not aware of that, then you know nothing. It is a fact that even DRC musicianship accept without debate. It is Joseph Kabasele who took that prize while Franco and the rest were still groping around in the dark.
@@owenonzeeDon't twist history. Are you a twistorian?😂
I love this.
My best was at Kinsiona when Franco took over himself as the Boss.🎉 He deserves his flowers even in death

Luambo gave opportunities for emerging musicians.just check the time he gave Lugendo.RIP Franco

The only favorite jitahrist
😍😍
Franco my favorite
Funny how at 33:43 Franco couldn't remember which song Malage was singing... a song he wrote! LOL!
Actually, he was from Sénégal.
Who Franco?
My dad had this on VHS. He would play this and then play Pepe Kalle's concert.
Please what's the name of the guy who sang last ?
His name is malage De Lugendo
Katiyao waliopohai ni wachachesana. Inasikitisha, lakini ndiyo Dunia.
Good the grand master
Wonderful voice
makambu ya ba danse ebandi depuis kala lol
Quel spectacle !
malage de lugendo en 1987 il avait 25 ans
Rip josky
at 7.59 was he collapsing
No.
Well, that book is rather full of it. There's a lot in that book is true, but also a lot that is partly tru or not at all, you don't know what to believe. A lot in that book is one-source information. Try to get Rumba on the River by Gary Stewart, that book is much more reliable.
I'm looking for a band who can play this type of music in South Africa. Anybody who knows anyone who can at least least play the riffs of Testament ya Bowule please hit me up.
Whats the name of the singer at 33:37 ?
The song is name Ida.. Malagi chant
@@sandybansiale8629 Malage sung a few words of IDA song but Franco told him to sing the song testament ya Bowule instead which he sung a little longer.
cool music
41.21
what is the title of the first song sang by josky kiambukuta
Armour viole
Who else was waiting restlessly for madilu system intros? Lelo makambo lobi makambo
Is it by design that he was the last to be introduced? Franco was very fond of Madilu. As that dancer was being introduced... Franco was moaning... Maadilu, yaa Madilu. This created the rivalry between Josky and Madilu.
This is the man Franco had wanted to inherit his kingdom but then Madilu got lost.
Hahahaaaa the guy who interrupts Malage's singing towards the end must be a Kenyan. Tht's wht we do in Nrb. We dont care the theme of the song. It can be the saddest dirge but as long as it's danceable we'll shake our waists n shoulders. We dont care wht u ar singing; I think we wa born dancing! Hahahaaaa love frm Nairobi.
Uko hapo pia 🤣🤣🤣

8 seconds before that Franco shouts his name: Malage De Lugendo.
HI
+muana yanzambe T'as grandement raison

There is no business like show business
Testament ya kitôkô
Franco was a big man 33:35. On television, josky always seemed to me a short man. But at 36:09 Josky is bigger than Franco. What is this at 41:12? From Angola.
Rest in Peace Josky.
Josky was never a short man by any standards. Maybe you confused him with another person
When Africa ment Business
41:19 worth bookmark.
Mama Leky
Well, here's your explanation: les on dit are full of shit. Franco played (and recorded) in Belgium from the early 1960's, played in Holland several times, even toured the U.S.A. and I posted a gig recorded in Abidjan, I also know he played in Conakry in the 1970's. Lutumba accompanied him on many of these trips, possibly not the U.S., I'm not sure about that one.
Ba bandaka ko binisa mindele Kaka na lingala , Musique e zalaki melancolique pas trop des rythmes ndenge nini te mindele ba sepela na NGO?
Musique YA lelo e koma lente et trop des rythmes e sepelisaka lisusu mindele te
and it's a lot of shit I suppose coz I read tht frm Graeme Ewens' book Congo Colosus. So Graeme also depended on Les on dits! Shame!

41:24 🤢🤢
