My pop is from Banagher. My grandfather grew up nearby….lived in the lock house on The Grand Canal in Shannon Harbor. Loved the poem 👍🏻

My Mam is from Banagher and a few of my aunts and uncles still live there! I used to go into Eileens shop for my sweets when I used to come over and stay in the summer when I was little!! SO many lovely memories!!

@msskizz Hi I came on to this page because i love johnny's music and visited Banagher a few times after meeting Peter Loonam Jan 2007 in St.Lukes Rathgar. We have kept in touch since, great character ,I had a laugh with him when things were tough ,kept me going. How do you know him?

Thats amazing - I know George & Cora well, in fact their daughter has recently bought a house a few doors from mine.

I'm a Kildare man myself, haven't been to Banagher as such, but I'd be familiar with the wider area.

Yea there was a railway but it's long gone - the odd track tracing is barely visable now on the banks of the Shannon (you've been here? / where are you from?)
