Sounds really nice Max! I'm a big fan of Imitation Man and got a bottle of it, as far as I know this one's also along the same vein of conceptual perfumery so i'm soo interested in trying Portrayal out. Also you mentioned this could be in your top ten amouages, what are your top three by any chance?
Portrayal and Imitation are my favorites now. But I think I like more Imitation .
I have by kilian vodka on the rocks and Intoxicated also have Perfums de Marly layton

Can't wait to get my nose on this. Lyric, Reflection, and Interlude are my favorites from this house.
I love that smoky cade oil scent. Imaginary Authors City on Fire is very much in that vein. For me this is a no-brainer. I'd love it. That vetiver vibe makes it even more yummylicious. Count me in. Amouage is one of my very favorite Houses.
I'd live to try this fragrance and see if it beats out my all-time favorite fragrance Gucci Guilty Absolute.

Ive heard a lot about the house of Amouage from videos but I havent had the opportunity to test it anywhere. I only have smelled one clone of a fragrance from the house od Amouage but it had few notes changed. My imagination is working prety hard and I wonder a lot whats the quality of NICHEs like. Soooo curious about this one.

I’m new to Amouage fragrances but I’ve loved how creative but surprisingly appealing they are. And I too love Vetiver as a note and I’m sure interested to get my nose on this 😁
Wow! That sounds fabulous. I'm a huge fanatic of Dior Fahrenheit. I don't care what people say about that petrol scent. I've been a fan & been rocking it since the 90's. Definitely need to give this Amouage a shot so enter me in this giveaway for sure. Stay smelling fresh & much love...
I have never gotten my nose on one of these "original" Amouages I have Jubilation XXV but apparently my bottle is a reformulation. I still love love love it, but I always wonder what I might be missing. I hope this has that oomph they speak of with old Amouage.
I'm new to the fraghead hobby, so the notes sound unique and unfamiliar. I have never owned a niche perfume too so this would be my first (to own , not smell).
What is not to like about The era of the 20s & the bold fragrance statements from the 80’s . Imitation man was my latest try from this fabulous house & it was amazing . Hope to sample this because it sounds like a winner already . Thanks max !

Almost Fahrenheit done niche.
I don't have ANY Amouage in my collection. All I hear is they are beast quality. Needless to say, I'd be ecstatic with a 5m sample of it. And much appreciative.

Lately, this has been one of my favorites. It has potensial to become a new Amouage classic. I don't get the huge sillage and longevity you talk about here. On my skin the longevity is ok, while the sillage is moderate. It's a wonderful fragrance from Amouage, perfect for spring, summer and fall. Very classy and elegant. 8/10.

Great Video Max! So far I own two fragrances from the house of Amouage, Memoir Man, which was my first purchase, and Reflection Man, love them both....Portrayal Man, sounds good, I am a lover of Vetiver as well, but more of the cleaner side, be Blessed bro✊🏿

I'd like to try it b/c violet is a tough note to master but it makes a frag stand apart when it's done right (think Green Irish Tweed). I don't own any Amouage (yet) but Epic Man is on my short wish list.

Max, great review of Amouage Portrayal Man. I really enjoy the powerhouse fragrances of the 80s and 90s. I want to try a sample of this because I enjoy unique offerings such as this which has notes such as Violet and Cade Oil. I am also a huge fan of Vetiver so I think this fragrance would really appeal to me.

I'd love to try this. Aside from your description, the idea of violet and nuttiness (guessing that's the vetiver?) makes me think of both GIT and Encre Noir.

Yes yes yes!!!! Being a hip 51 year old man and living through the 80's-90's fragrances. This one sounds phenomenal. I have 7 Amouage bottles now in my collection. Most choices made in part by your reviews.

Which amouage has the better presentation fate man or this?
they are very similar to one another - Fate has a rainbow like effect on the bottle towards the center wheres Portrayal is more linear and concise with the pearl/mirror imagery... Both are very nice and intricate but I guess I like Portrayal a bit more...

Thanks for the video, I have several Amouage in my collection, Reflection, Sunshine, Beach Hut and Jubilation XXV. This one sounds interesting and the combination of Bel Ami and Fahrenheit sounds intriguing . I own Bel Ami and have enjoyed it over the years.
The first time I got pure diesel oil and was pretty overwhelmed. Now some weeks later I sprayed it again, got diesel again but can pick out the violets and woods a lot better. I am sniffing all the time and picked up some sweet cinnamon, amazing fragrance with many smells which can change in minutes.

Portrayal Man is for me.
Dior Fahrenheit is in my top five fragrances, if not my top three. To be able to try something that is comprable un scent, niche (which I don't own yet!!!), and new, would be absolutely amazing!!!!

Is this Perfume close to fahrenheit perfume?
Fragrances react with different skin types. The one that really jived with my skin was Fahrenheit.
I’m only looking at this video because Amouage Portrayal was recommended to me. I can’t wear Fahrenheit as it reminds my wife of her late father.
I guess I should try to get a $4 sample sent out from the link in your description. Unless you’re willing to sell me whatever is left of your bottle.
My wife got me Creed Green Irish Tweed but Aventus wears much better on my skin. Haven’t been able to find the signature replacement fragrance yet. Reuhl 925 had a signature fragrance for men but after 2008 they closed shop.
