The dad is very arrogant and conceited, he says a few revealing things that show his character. He mentioned that his neighbors are renters, when there was no need for this comment, but it revealed his mindset bc my mom would say the same about her neighbors who were renters. He owned his home and believed renters were too poor to buy or beneath him. He mentioned two rich neighborhoods and having friends from those neighborhoods. He mentions two big powerful family names, that he said he hung out with. All of these were never asked about, he just slide them into the conversation. This tells me he is very aware of appearances and parents this hyper aware of appearances rarely get their kids help when they know their kid is off. Stefan was probably showing signs as a kid and teen of being capable of doing what he did, but his parents were not about to get him help and let others know their kid was defective. Monsters are often raised by other monsters that never got caught.
They're definitely narcissists! In her last video about them, the first thing Stephan's parents talk about is their weight loss on Ozempic. Absolutely wild. I think Stephan's parents know much more about his behaviour than they let on, and are trying to distance themselves. But his tone! And Stephan's mother cleaning out his room immediately, before he was known to be of interest to the police. They are still enabling him in prison. There's something wrong about them. I'd be investigating his father too, just to be sure he's not involved.

Seems v concerned to tell wife about wellness check coming (3x). SS & KS & MS spend all time up in bedroom, but that's totally “normal” in their fam. I want to know why they all know the ins and outs of Maddie’s puberty and menstrual cycle? Surely that’s something only she and her mom would really know about. I did notice that Stephan said she’d recently started her period but his parents said she started at eleven and developed quickly? Another thing that should be pointed out is that someone like Maddie who has been exposed to things far beyond her years are likely to display signs that are not age-appropriate, through no fault of their own. They often don’t know what’s normal and what’s not. What if, with the fact that she had a crush on a boy, Stephan was worried she’d take things beyond a usual innocent 12/13 year old relationship? She’d likely try to engage in adult behaviours with the boy her age and questions would be raised quickly if that came out. All eyes would soon be on Stephan, mom’s partner who has so much access to Maddie. Maddie at 13 may have just started learning about sex at school or with friends chatting but the things she’d have known would be far more than what is normal for her age. Poor girl.

Jen and Deborah seem similar in their victim mentality and making their "disabilities" their entire personality. It's interesting that SS gravitated toward Jen after being brought up by DS and that he also was allergic to work. It's also funny to see the distain both women had for each other given they are similar. His dad's work ethic didnt stand a chance against Deborahs incessant coddling and excuses she made for him his whole life (as it seems shes full of excuses for her own abuse and lack of motivation too). He tried to give SS opportunities and instilling some kind of motivation in him but ended up financially taking care of an adult baby boy while resenting it the whole time (at his coddling wife's insistence?). In the end it seems DS, SS AND JS were all reliant on Chris. Also interesting that SS became a sneaky, compulsive liar living a double life after what we know about his father's past. Very fascinating interviews.

Wow the dad: „I‘m pissed that he had done this to us“ Still, they don‘t seem to care a bit about Maddie😳?! I get it, he‘s their son and they are disappointed but Maddie was missing, hellooo?! A 13y old child and they know their son did probably something to her, else the cops wouldn‘t be talking to them so extensively investigating SS past, timeline around Maddies disappearance when SS was the last person with her etc. I‘m shocked about this total lack of concern for Maddie‘s wellbeing!! I mean they knew her and even with a child they didn‘t know this would send alarm bells off to me! I know it‘s easy to judge in hindsight knowing what happend but even without that there‘s so many weird expressions, events, just too many red flags in Maddie‘s environment that i can‘t believe no one suspected what was going on but then listening to these parents I have to wonder about their way of perspective and general attitude towards other human beings. How can they be so relaxed most of the time during these questions when they just learned their son had sth to do with a child‘s disappearance?! At least that they knew at this point and they themselves talked about how weird the „rs“ was their son seemed to have or think to have with Maddie! Aren‘t they connecting the dots or aren‘t they feeling anything or what is it?! I‘m out of words for all the circumstances that made it possible for Maddie to suffer that much without ANYone being there for her except some friends,I‘m glad she had some friends but how the h should she ever trust someone to confide when no one seemed to care about her of the adults and the only one who seemed at times nice (in her perception as a child) was the same person who did all the unthinkable horrific stuff to her!? That must have been so confusing and very hard to cope with in any way!! Absolutely heartbreaking and terrible!! She must have felt so alone, so overwhelmed, no wonder she couldn‘t express to the counselor what it was that made her panic, what the core of her issues were…She jokingly stated SS was weird… She tried to talk about him I guess but couldn‘t say more than that, probably just to overwhelming and confusing, all the emotions and the situation at home😭 I never felt so desperate about a case where a child was unalived, I almost can‘t take it at times but still coming back to learn more. It is so sad that every adult (maybe except Stephan’s father) is putting responsibility onto Maddie for the way her mother and Stephan used her. Even pretending to assign her reluctance to leave the shower in the evenings to “bipolar” rather than being forced to sleep with a middle aged man. The worst of it is, Maddie’s friends were very aware she was intensely unhappy. Nobody else seems to have noticed it. Just conveniently medicalised any inconvenient emotions, without considering external causes. Probably in future years, as those kids mature, they will realise that some of the things she said had so much more significance than they could pick up on as kids. Also some of them may well have known there was something sleazy about the “stepfather”, but also known that no adult was going to take Maddie seriously, that nobody would want to deal with it. Maybe this is why she was taking notes from internet sites; she was trying to figure out how to disclose what was going on without being just dismissed and left at his mercy.
When your mom instructs you to go take a shower, take your night medicine then go to that room and sleep with a middle aged guy, because she herself “needs good sleep”, it is something that, if you have done it since you can remember, would not at first strike you as wrong. Especially if you sometimes sleep with both. Early on, years before, her mother must have dismissed her complaints, until, when he was doing the most extreme stuff, she knew to not even try to get help from her mother. She was apparently a bright kid: she knew that her mother knew and didn’t want to know. Jen lived off him and he lived off his father. And when he didn’t get financial support from his parents, he just stole from them.

Jen, being complicit in Maddie’s abuse, would want to keep her daughter as destabilized as possible, and discussing end of the world conflicts would help do that. She would want her daughter to be compliant, and inducing fear in the outside world would do that, plus it would lessen the chances that Maddie would trust any adult enough to report the abuse. Also, Jen and Stephen seem to be fans of big pharma. Keeping Maddie anxious enough o have meds prescribed would give them a source of meds for them to use themselves, or drug Maddie in order to lessen her ability to resist, or possibly remember all the details of her abuse. Poor Madeline deserved so much better.
His parents stated their son and Jens relationship was all drug related. Apparently they had been committing prescription fraud from the very beginning. Little Maddie was used for this purpose. Happens all day everyday across this country. 20mg of Adderall would put me in a straight jacket. Sad 😢

His parents lived almost 3 hours away. They weren’t around Maddie, hardly ever. His perception is that his son loved her. As a parent you would never in a 1 million years ever want to believe your child could do such horrific acts of violence.

Maddy didn't actually need to be pregnant to die for it. He could have believed she was pregnant and acted accordingly. Maybe she put the scare into him. It would explain why he was so on edge before he went to Kissimmee that weekend.
But think about it…. They are handing their son over to the police. They are giving them all of the evidence, telling them everything Stefan said. They aren’t covering for him. But they love him. They are still his parents. I think they are doing the right thing, but are still blinded by their love for their son. I’ll allow them a little bit of disillusion.

But perhaps that’s just what SS told his mother and perhaps Maddie told him she didn’t want him to come, bc his mom said SS got very anxious and upset after he talked to Maddie. Also, at the party, Maddie was crying bc she didn’t want to go home. Perhaps he had it planned before he ever got there bc he felt rejected by M.

I still want to know how the parents are so adamant that Jenn knew “everything” … WHAT is everything according to them? And HOW do they know the details? Surely you have to know as well to make such a statement and be solid with it? Sounds to me as if Stephan was more open with his parents than they allege and he told them Jenn was part of it.

Be careful of judgments against those with mentally ill family members. Have YOU been there? I have. No one wants to go through that hell month after month, year after year. Not many options for family. They sit and suffer while the MI Perp reigns supreme getting their way every day until a violent episode lands them in jail. Then, maybe they go to psych evaluation and get the medicine they needed all along and were unwilling to take. Or maybe even that fails as you watch them disintegrate before your eyes. Maybe they become incapacitated in a psych nursing home and finally get the medical help they needed, but were too stubborn to take - and then they die. And then you are sad, but relieved. This happened to my father, a lifelong abuser of me and mom. Allow me to take you to school about the life of disturbed ppl and their families. It ain’t pretty, I assure you.
I feel like all the parents did was talk about things to make themselves sound like parents that "would never raise such a disaster of a human" because they're so worldly. When Deb was on the phone with Chris, he had her on speaker, but I doubt she knew they could hear her. And she didn’t sound hysterical. Then when the police show up, she’s immediately hysterical and JUST found the torso thing? Maybe that was part of an act on Deb’s part? Maybe they both knew or maybe just Deb knew, but something is off with them.

The dad is very arrogant and conceited, he says a few revealing things that show his character. He mentioned that his neighbors are renters, when there was no need for this comment, but it revealed his mindset bc my mom would say the same about her neighbors who were renters. He owned his home and believed renters were too poor to buy or beneath him. He mentioned two rich neighborhoods and having friends from those neighborhoods. He mentions two big powerful family names, that he said he hung out with. All of these were never asked about, he just slide them into the conversation.
This tells me he is very aware of appearances and parents this hyper aware of appearances rarely get their kids help when they know their kid is off. Stefan was probably showing signs as a kid and teen of being capable of doing what he did, but his parents were not about to get him help and let others know their kid was defective. Monsters are often raised by other monsters that never got caught.

I want to know why they all know the ins and outs of Maddie’s puberty and menstrual cycle? Surely that’s something only she and her mom would really know about. I did notice that Stephan said she’d recently started her period but his parents said she started at eleven and developed quickly?
Another thing that should be pointed out is that someone like Maddie who has been exposed to things far beyond her years are likely to display signs that are not age-appropriate, through no fault of their own. They often don’t know what’s normal and what’s not. What if, with the fact that she had a crush on a boy, Stephan was worried she’d take things beyond a usual innocent 12/13 year old relationship? She’d likely try to engage in adult behaviours with the boy her age and questions would be raised quickly if that came out. All eyes would soon be on Stephan, mom’s partner who has so much access to Maddie. Maddie at 13 may have just started learning about sex at school or with friends chatting but the things she’d have known would be far more than what is normal for her age. Poor girl.

Jen and Deborah seem similar in their victim mentality and making their "disabilities" their entire personality. It's interesting that SS gravitated toward Jen after being brought up by DS and that he also was allergic to work. It's also funny to see the distain both women had for each other given they are similar. His dad's work ethic didnt stand a chance against Deborahs incessant coddling and excuses she made for him his whole life (as it seems shes full of excuses for her own abuse and lack of motivation too). He tried to give SS opportunities and instilling some kind of motivation in him but ended up financially taking care of an adult baby boy while resenting it the whole time (at his coddling wife's insistence?). In the end it seems DS, SS AND JS were all reliant on Chris.

Wow the dad: „I‘m pissed that he had done this to us“ Still, they don‘t seem to care a bit about Maddie😳?! I get it, he‘s their son and they are disappointed but Maddie was missing, hellooo?! A 13y old child and they know their son did probably something to her, else the cops wouldn‘t be talking to them so extensively investigating SS past, timeline around Maddies disappearance when SS was the last person with her etc. I‘m shocked about this total lack of concern for Maddie‘s wellbeing!! I mean they knew her and even with a child they didn‘t know this would send alarm bells off to me! Literally no one cared although all are talking of quite disturbing things they had witnessed w either SS and Maddie or JS and Maddie! What‘s wrong with these people, I just don‘t get it! They all try to somehow blame Maddie for the disturbing stuff in one or the other way, I find that very concerning and most of all incredibly sad for Maddie!
I know it‘s easy to judge in hindsight knowing what happend but even without that there‘s so many weird expressions, events, just too many red flags in Maddie‘s environment that i can‘t believe no one suspected what was going on but then listening to these parents I have to wonder about their way of perspective and general attitude towards other human beings. How can they be so relaxed most of the time during these questions when they just learned their son had sth to do with a child‘s disappearance?! At least that they knew at this point and they themselves talked about how weird the „rs“ was their son seemed to have or think to have with Maddie! Aren‘t they connecting the dots or aren‘t they feeling anything or what is it?! I‘m out of words for all the circumstances that made it possible for Maddie to suffer that much without ANYone being there for her except some friends,I‘m glad she had some friends but how the h should she ever trust someone to confide when no one seemed to care about her of the adults and the only one who seemed at times nice (in her perception as a child) was the same person who did all the unthinkable horrific stuff to her!? That must have been so confusing and very hard to cope with in any way!! Absolutely heartbreaking and terrible!! She must have felt so alone, so overwhelmed, no wonder she couldn‘t express to the counselor what it was that made her panic, what the core of her issues were…She jokingly stated SS was weird… She tried to talk about him I guess but couldn‘t say more than that, probably just to overwhelming and confusing, all the emotions and the situation at home😭
I never felt so desperate about a case where a child was unalived, I almost can‘t take it at times but still coming back to learn more. What a tragic case…

It is so sad that every adult (maybe except Stephan’s father) is putting responsibility onto Maddie for the way her mother and Stephan used her. Even pretending to assign her reluctance to leave the shower in the evenings to “bipolar” rather than being forced to sleep with a middle aged man.
The worst of it is, Maddie’s friends were very aware she was intensely unhappy. Nobody else seems to have noticed it. Just conveniently medicalised any inconvenient emotions, without considering external causes.
Probably in future years, as those kids mature, they will realise that some of the things she said had so much more significance than they could pick up on as kids.
Also some of them may well have known there was something sleazy about the “stepfather”, but also known that no adult was going to take Maddie seriously, that nobody would want to deal with it. Maybe this is why she was taking notes from internet sites; she was trying to figure out how to disclose what was going on without being just dismissed and left at his mercy.
When your mom instructs you to go take a shower, take your night medicine then go to that room and sleep with a middle aged guy, because she herself “needs good sleep”, it is something that, if you have done it since you can remember, would not at first strike you as wrong. Especially if you sometimes sleep with both. Early on, years before, her mother must have dismissed her complaints, until, when he was doing the most extreme stuff, she knew to not even try to get help from her mother. She was apparently a bright kid: she knew that her mother knew and didn’t want to know. Jen lived off him and he lived off his father. And when he didn’t get financial support from his parents, he just stole from them.

Jen, being complicit in Maddie’s abuse, would want to keep her daughter as destabilized as possible, and discussing end of the world conflicts would help do that. She would want her daughter to be compliant, and inducing fear in the outside world would do that, plus it would lessen the chances that Maddie would trust any adult enough to report the abuse. Also, Jen and Stephen seem to be fans of big pharma. Keeping Maddie anxious enough o have meds prescribed would give them a source of meds for them to use themselves, or drug Maddie in order to lessen her ability to resist, or possibly remember all the details of her abuse. Poor Madeline deserved so much better.
His parents stated their son and Jens relationship was all drug related. Apparently they had been committing prescription fraud from the very beginning. Little Maddie was used for this purpose. Happens all day everyday across this country. 20mg of Adderall would put me in a straight jacket. Sad 😢

I know they weren't related to her but she had been in their lives to some extent for years.

Surely you have to know as well to make such a statement and be solid with it? Sounds to me as if Stephan was more open with his parents than they allege and he told them Jenn was part of it.

Be careful of judgments against those with mentally ill family members. Have YOU been there? I have. No one wants to go through that hell month after month, year after year. Not many options for family. They sit and suffer while the MI Perp reigns supreme getting their way every day until a violent episode lands them in jail. Then, maybe they go to psych evaluation and get the medicine they needed all along and were unwilling to take. Or maybe even that fails as you watch them disintegrate before your eyes. Maybe they become incapacitated in a psych nursing home and finally get the medical help they needed, but were too stubborn to take - and then they die. And then you are sad, but relieved. This happened to my father, a lifelong abuser of me and mom. Allow me to take you to school about the life of disturbed ppl and their families. It ain’t pretty, I assure you.
