- As the Arizona Coyotes are relocating to Salt Lake City, the National Hockey League is losing one of its most-beloved mascots in Howler the Coyote. In this episode of Kitwana's Toys, we are looking at the very last Howler plush created for the time being, the 16" version from the Stuffed Animal House, which was sold exclusively at the 2024 NHL All-Star Weekend in Toronto.
Farewell, Howler! Thank you for all the memories you have created with children of all ages since 2005, whether it was during home games or at several hundred community events during the past 2 decades throughout Arizona and beyond. Hope you will return to Arizona after a hibernation period.

Love me some Howler although I’ve never been to Arizona, I’m gonna miss him! But I’m definitely gonna go back and watch him from the past!

Yeah, this was relayed to me when I was at the Mascot Showdown in Toronto in February. Too bad he didn't get the job, but maybe it had to be that way, considering what just happened. I feel so incredibly sorry for Howler, his performer and everyone else in the organization. One of the most Furry mascots isn't anymore:(
That toy is so adorable. Technically I'm not in Arizona, but after seeing this video, that plush is so cute. Hope they will unretire him.
Keep an eye on the land auction in late-June. If the current Coyotes owner, Alex Meruelo wins it AND is able to build his arena project within the next 5 years, the NHL grants him the right to revive the franchise under its current branding. The Coyotes IP stays with Meruelo for the time being, the NHL considers the franchise "inactive". Whether Meruelo should ever be let anywhere close to a sports team is - of course - an entirely different story, but that's a topic other UA-camrs shall cover:)

It's a huge loss for the hockey and the mascot community, that's for sure.
