You're a legend. All the ebay descriptions are so broken and don't make sense. This video is the only video that describes exactly how these CC pots work. Thankyou!

I'm so thankful for your video. I agree that the manual is lacking. I'm having issues with mine. I'm using it to charge a LiFePO4 battery box I made. It did work, but now when I apply ~ 19 volts the screen briefly lights up and the it shuts down. It did drop the output voltage to ~14.1 volts like I needed, but it stopped working. I added a 10A schottky diode on the positive output wire because I read somewhere that it would only allow voltage to go one way (into the battery). Thank you for the great video and any help you can provide. I pray you have a great Thanksgiving holiday.

The schottky diode on output of the DCDC sounds like a good idea if the input voltage is removed. Would just need to take that voltage drop into account for your charging. I have not used my unit much but will be using it possibly with a heater project in my greenhouse.

l am trying to understand this device and your video has been helpful. I am trying to reduce the voltage from a 12 volt battery that charges to 14.2 volts from my solar panel to a second battery that can run my entrance gate which can only be

Thanks for the kind comment :) If I understand your problem correctly, you will need two separate DC/DC converters. One DC/DC to regulate the voltage from solar panel to battery that might be set to 13.8V (14.2 seems too high). At the battery you will have a second DC/DC that regulates voltage to your gate. So first DC/DC output is tied to input of second DC/DC and at that node is primary battery. I made quick sketch.

@@DanPattenAudioG33k I understand your plan. The controller company for the panel, Morningstar, wants the maximum voltage when the controller stops charging to be the 14.2 volts. I agree with you that that seems more than I would want , but regardless, my problem is to get the buck controller to work bringing the voltage down to

If you have two DC/DC converters, Input DC/DC and output DC/DC, you would set the input DC/DC current limit to how fast you would want to charge the battery. No idea what your battery chemistry is (lead acid, Lithium, NiCd) and its capacity, so can not really make a recommendation. With everything else disconnected and a discharged battery, you could attach the DC/DC with solar panel and then adjust the current pot to desired level.

Thanks for the great video. I think mine is on a different firmware, though. I had to add power with the top red button held down to change voltage, but when trying to do the same as directed by their docs, it doesn't work for current. Kind of get what you get with offshore products... They aren't exactly ISO9001 compliant.

Dang. Proper documentation and consistency is really a problem.

If I set it for 10v output, and change between a 12 or 24 volt input, will the 10v output remain for both input types, or would the pot for voltage output need to be adjusted each time? Thank you kindly for your patience and support.

If you set the output to 10V, the output will remain at 10V regardless of input voltage assuming that the output is not current limiting.
