when you see a seal baby acting and looking like this, always call a seal rescue! seals only have one baby at a time, and dont adopt/nurse abandoned or orphaned babies this baby likely came to you desperate for milk! see how they nuzzled his leg, trying to ask to nurse! i hope its mother came back ;-; calling a seal rescue for advice never hurts!
This pup appears to have been seriously malnourished and also suffering from a respiratory issue. Just because he was returned to the icy waters does not mean it was a happy ending at all, especially if he was sick and starving.
Hi Cheryl! Me and my wife visited him later. He was okay with his sister or brother. They ignored our milk and food. Also their mother was somewhere near. I'm quite sure it was a happy ending. Juha :-)

Hi Linda! This baby seal was heading to the mainland. They often die there when they get lost and suffer from lack of food. I have seen some poor ones :-( Also loose dogs may be a danger. I managed to turn this one back towards the sea and his mother. In the evening me and my wife went back to see him and had some milk and food with us. He was doing very well and there was also another bay seal. Their mother was calling for them. The next day they were all gone to the open water. I'm a big animal lover, never had been interested in hunting or killed an animal bigger than a fly. My gear is videocamera and binoculars. I published this video over two years ago to show this pup to my friends. I can't see any reason why I shouldn't have done that. Storyful and some other companies got interested and now it seems to be spreading all over the world. I'm sorry if people think that I somehow harmed this cute baby seal. Juha Salo Oh, I am relieved that the baby and its sibling and mother were OK. I think you asked at the end of the video: "Did I make a mistake by becoming friends with you?" (that's how I understood it, my mother tongue is Estonian but I have learned some Finnish) and after watching the clip I was worried that it might have wanted to go with you and didn't find its mother. It's so good that the story had a happy ending. Hopefully they have a happy long life.
Well, the title is from Storyful :-) I gave him all the help I could guiding him back towards the open water instead of inland where he was heading for. Later when I went back to see him again everything was ok.
