we just got our berkey. it comes with a blue rubber attachment for priming. Bumbelbee did not mention or show anything like that in your video for priming. also it comes with e red dye for testing. how important is it to do that? thanks.
Just a couple of corrections per the official Berkey instructions:
1) Black filters should be primed a full 1 minute
2) on the white filters, they come now with a screw in extender making it much easier to prime along with the blue “balloon” that attaches to the faucet.
3) the white filters should be filled initially when priming, removed from the faucet, shaken vigorously for 1 minute and then reattached and primed for a full 2-3 minutes.
I just wanted to make sure that everyone adequately primes all the filters. The video is good, but not enough time is spent priming. I do thank the author for promoting this fine product! 😀

Helpful video. Wasn't sure whether the fluoride flyer gets attached to the bottom of the tank or to the black filter. Also, the 8 turns no more with the fluoride filter was new for me .

Same! I’m not understanding what I did. I did exactly what every UA-cam person said.
how many threads do you usually find are still exposed of the black filter, once the 8 revolutions of the white filter have been done?... seems quite loose... maybe 5 threads remaining when I did it?

be sure to give the new black filters a good scrub before priming I find that it will unclog pores for easier priming and longer water flow until the next scrub and wash

As far as refilling, do you need to wait to refill top part of berkey until bottom is empty?

My wife ordered a new set of Berkey filters from an offbrand (from China) and the instructions were so vague and incomplete I was confused. I'm so glad I watched your videos because the "instructions" never mentioned the rubber priming grommet. Thanks!
My only faucet is a sprayer and the prime doesn't work. How do i do it
Where are you getting your replacement filters
Can you put the washer on the inside underneath the black Berkey not on the outside I had to do it all over you did not do it correct please look at the official website
I failed the red dye test and put the washer in the upper chamber and passed the test!!!
I never know wether the black washer goes on the inside of the upper chamber or the outside - on the side of the lower chamber next to the plastic nut. Help!

You can also soak them in sink water for 30 minutes you will see bubbles come out wail till it stops
Do you take the spigot off every time that you clean it? The plastic ones are pretty fragile so I would rather avoid damaging it.
I don't, and haven't had an issue, but it might be a good idea!

Since you said you cook with Berkey filtered water, if you boil pasta, do you boil in berkey filtered water only?

I ordered new chlorine and black filters but didn’t change them out til now,so they were sitting for maybe 6-12 months. Water not dripping through black filters. I’ve changed them before no issues at least twice plus the original setup. I reprimed both types of filters 3 times and only one black filter is now working. Any advice? I tried warm water too, not hot but warm. I don’t know if this is an issue because I waited so long to change out but these are hella expensive and I don’t want to have to ask for replacement nor can I afford right now.
That's interesting, I haven't had this happen. I would contact the Berkey company and see what they recommend. I don't believe letting the filters sit before installing would cause any problems.
I had my original black last many years. I did clean them with scouring pads. Then charge them again. How did the "not charging" filter issue come out ?
Wow! We have 4 filters installed and they didn't even last a year. Failed the red dye test after 10 months.
probably a dumb question, but the instructions say no more than 8 revolutions to put on the fluoride filter. Both installations videos I've watched were 8 twists, not full revolutions. So which is correct?
I'd go with 8 revolutions.

Yes, that's what we do!
The white filters filter out way more than just fluoride. They are valuable for filtering a large variety of contaminants.

Berkey suggest replacing the black filters every 11 years I'm curious why you replaced him every three
8 rotations on my fluoride filters and they are still lose😬
What are the price ranges for these models? An interesting thing to incorporate into a future video would be to do a before and after quality test on the water to see levels of various minerals and undesired metals.

Only with my nose and mouth, and I can for SURE tell a difference that way :)

How come my water isn’t good…?
There can be many reasons! Lots of city water has fluoride and chlorine added to it.
I've had a couple black filters that had a defect where the bottom plastic part glue had come apart. Might have been a lemon from the factory.
You should resize your wood stand, and it’s like wasted space and you can fill your berkey easier :}

World's tiniest kitchen. And Berkey site says white filters cannot be cleaned.
