Did you ever stop to think for a moment "have I been doing this wrong all my life?" then search online and think "someone probably made a video about it"? This is it. Thanks.
This video is great! The presenter does a great job outlining each option with the pluses and minuses of each approach! I learned alot and I hold red seal papers in cooking!
The pro method for me! Was taught this in college- I was a home economics major, it was all about the presentation. Pink grapefruit with avocados on a lettuce leaf with red onion and Catalina dressing ( just a drizzle) is delicious! Miss my pink grapefruit tree in AZ.
Literally my new favorite fruit. I'm 33 and finally learned how to do it right lol! I like the last method. I couldn't believe how easily the meat of the fruit came out! Wow delicious💛
When living, growing food builds fiber and holds a structure, that's where the more Vitamin C can be found. The white (or "albedo") has nearly all the Vit C in citrus. I cut some white rind and some of the fibrous section walls and add when blending. Or, many times, I'll just eat it. You don't have to swallow the fiber, especially the really tough stuff, you can take it back out of your mouth once you've chewed it up somewhat. Lovely vid. Thx for doing and sharing.
I had grapefruit for the first time today. I had no idea how to eat it, so i tried the conventional method like orange. Turns out the flesh contains bitter residue... I hated it... Towards the ends I started leaving the membrane & eating just the flesh. Turns out it's a lovely fruit, as long as u know how to eat it
I just bought one today as well. To avoid regrets I decided to watch tutorials on how to eat it. (edit) Oh wait, after method 3 I realized I have actually eaten grapefruit before but it's the local variety. The ones we had at my hometown has a yellow green color and never turned orange. However the pulp inside is still the same as this orange colored variety in the video. The third method is how we eat it.
Peel is very rich in pectin, you should eat learn to eat at least some of it because of it's health, detoxicating effect it has for us. One of the best sources of it nature has to offer.
I grew up in Florida with an amazing grapefruit tree in the back yard and the Pro method is definitely the way to do it. My dad taught me when I was a kid. Removing the sections can get juicy, so it's best to do that over a big bowl. You can also put aside your sharp knife and use a butter knife the flip the sections out.
Great video! My parents always did it like your dad. I was going to browse to see if there were a few different methods, but you covered several all in one video. Thanks 😊
I did a version of the last way, your method. I cut off the ends (great idea). But as i started to cut off the rind I was losing some of the flesh. So I peeled the remaining skin. Then the fruit opened like a squishy orange. I didn't mind the membrane (more fiber?). But I messily slobbered over a bowl (bachelor) and enjoyed this delicious fruit. Thanks!❤❤❤❤
Very informative for me as I am now worrying how to cut the pomelo that a kind soul gave to me. Thank you very much. Also, I find the body language going along with the instructions eloquently supportive and nice.
That was awesome thank you so much! my favorite is number five, I'm 54 and I never knew how to do this before except for the first method exclamation mark thank you again I look forward to more videos, I would love to see a tomato cutting one!
Happy New Year! I just tried this! The pro method is now my go-to method for eating grapefruit. I already cut other citrus fruits like that but, of course, no membrane. Thanks Erica!
I just came back from Paris and the hotel served breakfast buffet. They had grapefruit that tasted AMAZING. It was present in perfect sections so you could just pop nit in your mouth.. These methods are good I think your method where you slice put the fruit while rotating it looks the closest 😋
The last method worked wonderfully. It will take me a bit of practice to get better at it. But in all honestly it wasn't that hard and I have so much more grapefruit flesh then I normally do. Thanks!
I remember my grandmother serving grapefruit with your father’s spoon method but I’m making a mixed fruits salad so I’m going for your last approach. Thanks!
I, see there are a lot of THANK, YOU 😊 WELL, here goes another one !! I am, sure you have made a lot of experiences with grapefruit much more enjoyable !! 😃
The "undressing" method is how I actually eat Orange as I find the membrane to be too tough for my preference, so I don't think I will enjoy the "eat it like an orange" method. The last one is the one I came for but being how much of the lovely fruit is left out, I might use it only for guests or when I am about to use the juice in topings as well. But thank you, I finally found the information I was looking for and the explanation. Without your video I would still find it confusing and feeling like I am missing out on other ways and techniques of eating a grapefruit. Thank you so so much 💗 Highly appreciated ❤👏
I started eating grapefruit almost every day the past few months and found I was naturally inclined to do the method where you peel it like an orange, but then with my fingers I tear off the membrane. It’s quite messy, which is the main negative of it, but I do feel like I get every little delicious part of the flesh this way. Might try the pro method (the last one) next time, looks delicious and a good way to make a citrus salad!
Ma'am, Thank you so much for this video. All my life I have been trying to learn how to eat these fruits, and finally today I decided to learn from an expert, God bless you! So easy!
Method 1 and 5 are the best by far. Method 1 is the one I have always used the most because I am lazy. I don't like to add sugar or salt to mine though. I really miss yellow grapefruit though since it's so hard to find these days.
also this was great information, I love grapefruit but hate trying to eat them, I feel like I waste 99 percent of the flesh because I just chew up the membrane and spit it out or try to scoop the flesh out with a spoon wich just results in a tiny amount of flesh and mostly juice. this method might seem wasteful but honestly I just went in the kitchen and tried it and it produced far more grapefruit flesh than any other method.plus it is enjoyable to do!
I think that it's interesting that there are many ways to cut open grapefruits! ^_^ I love cutting them in half with a knife, and eating the sections of fruit with a spoon, since I always ate grapefruits like that when I was a child! :D
The reason I'm watching this is because my mom always used to cut it and then an then have us scoop out the pieces with the spoon with a little sugar on top. But I decided today that I was just gonna eat like an orange and skip the bother of no running a knife along the membrane and all that.. I was Just gonna peel and eat it. Come to find out you're really can't eat one like that and enjoy it. I had the biggest mess in the end. I never knew that's why my mom did what she did. But now I know ..So thank you very much for your vide, you rock?
Thank you for this video! I have always eaten grapefruit like your number one option, but I’m going to try number three. I think that looks the best to me. Ha ha, see what I did there?!
you always hear about ER visits from cutting avocados...surprised we don't hear about more grapefruit...lol everyone only had the first method growing up bc their mom got the pampered chef funky grapefruit knife :D
for the first way, you do not need to get in-between slices, just cut the center like a square then cut around the outside edge. like a donut. they pop out automatically.
Method 5. I would add that once you get to the seperation part, put a plate under to collect any juice, which would be much harder to collect from the chopping board.

I'm ordering a grapefruit spoon after watching your video. Thank you kindly!
Thank you! This helped after trying and failing to eat a grapefruit. They are so messy to eat if you don't do it right
Heyyy Ingmar Elfsborg I love ur mom soooo much! Also im the founder of grapefruit! - from queen note
Literally my new favorite fruit. I'm 33 and finally learned how to do it right lol! I like the last method. I couldn't believe how easily the meat of the fruit came out! Wow delicious💛
Isn't it delicious?! Yes, once you know the secret it's pretty easy! :)
56 years old, and you've taught me the easy way to cut a grapefruit. Thank you! Great video too!!!

I will be sure to try methods 3 and 5. Thank you for beautifully clear instruction.

How did you eat the pomelo?

This was great. Thank you. I liked the last one best.
All 5 were wonderful! Thank you. Grapefruit is an amazing delicious fruit! As well as a cholesterol remover.😉
Happy New Year! I just tried this! The pro method is now my go-to method for eating grapefruit. I already cut other citrus fruits like that but, of course, no membrane. Thanks Erica!
Happy New Year to you, too! Isn't the pro method awesome?! ✨
Love the rising sun method. Will do now. 😋
I'm going to try the sunrise method. Thank you

Wow, you're a grapefruit expert! 😄
I love grapefruit. I usually eat it using method 1 and a grapefruit spoon. Method 5 is my favorite for presentation in salads etc.
Love this video.❤
The last method worked wonderfully. It will take me a bit of practice to get better at it. But in all honestly it wasn't that hard and I have so much more grapefruit flesh then I normally do. Thanks!

I'm going with method 5. I can put the slices in a ziploc bag and it's ready when I want it. Thanks for the tips!
Glad it was helpful!
This was great!
By the way the “Rising Sun” version you actually do remove more membrane by removing the skin with the knife.
I, see there are a lot of THANK, YOU 😊 WELL, here goes another one !! I am, sure you have made a lot of experiences with grapefruit much more enjoyable !! 😃
Method 5 , very helpful!!!!

Best that I have seen!
I am going to try the Pro method! Thank you!🤩
I’ve been using the 5 method may try the 1stmethod
I do method 5 and can grapefruit and oranges together, so good!
Thank you for posting. I think I'm gonna try that last method or maybe your sunshine one too. Nice video.
Thank you. #5 worked for me.
I like #5. I'll give it a try next time!
Ouse the classic method but did not think of cutting around first😳 thanks!
Nice. I was given a case of grapefruit so I'm going to go practice technique 5.
I started eating grapefruit almost every day the past few months and found I was naturally inclined to do the method where you peel it like an orange, but then with my fingers I tear off the membrane. It’s quite messy, which is the main negative of it, but I do feel like I get every little delicious part of the flesh this way. Lovely methods 💯
Very helpful; new techniques I never knew about. Thank you!
Thank you, liked the options but think the last method, for me, the best. Quite quick and easy to eventually gobble the fruit, sliced and cleaned!
I use the eat it like an orange method. It is time consuming and messy but there is no wastage or eating the membrane. Thanks for sharing.
Ma'am,
Thank you so much for this video. All my life I have been trying to learn how to eat these fruits, and finally today I decided to learn from an expert, God bless you! So easy!

very impressive butter up

Number 5 for me. Thank you.
great vid!
Thank you...haven't eaten a grapefruit in years.. very helpful!
Method 5 is my preferred method. Delicious to eat as no membrane
Excellent, we'll presented video.
Now I know how to cut in different ways now!
Yay.
😊❤️
Very well done!
Thank you! indeed helpful content. I was always using undressing method but now am going to try fifth method.
So happy it was helpful! Method 5 is my favorite.

awesome! Will try #5! but the pith and membranes have a ton of good natural fiber, which should not be wasted
It's bitter.
Try dipping Grape fruits into Vinegar with a little bit salt, so yummy or sprinkle with salt on Grape so yummy also..
Number 5 is great
The last method FTW!
Thank you!
I'm gonna try the 5th method.
I’m going to try method #5
YESSSSSSSSS IM GONNA BE EATING GRAPEFRUIT EVERYDAY TYSM
I have alwaysbdone method #1 ‐ but I want to try the sun method and the pro.method. They look much neater and less wasteful.
My crush will be so impressed when we have grapefruit and I whip out method #5
Mmhmm. You'll look so professional. :D
How'd they like it?
i love the Pro method! great video
Thank you!
I'm going to try instruction 5.
SUPER AMAZING
Thank you for the video! Your tips are very useful^^
Thank you for sharing
I think that it's interesting that there are many ways to cut open grapefruits! ^_^ I love cutting them in half with a knife, and eating the sections of fruit with a spoon, since I always ate grapefruits like that when I was a child! :D
Thanks
I will go with both method 1 and method 5
Those are the ones I use a lot! The rising sun method is also really quick and easy.
Great video thanks
Thanks. No 5 for deffo💙
Love this thank you. One comment tho is you need some plants behind you 😂
I'm not super good at keeping plants alive. :D
Lmao. I just ate a grapefruit and I unskinned them by hand! Was very messy and wanted to look for a better way. I'm glad I found this!
The reason I'm watching this is because my mom always used to cut it and then an then have us scoop out the pieces with the spoon with a little sugar on top. Definitely Method #5
apart from over hearing the words membrane and flesh, this was awesome. thanks for sharing.
Will try all! Super ❤️
Very helpful!
Your favorite method works for me as well.
Cool. 3&5 I like
Thank you for this video!
I have always eaten grapefruit like your number one option, but I’m going to try number three. I think that looks the best to me. Ha ha, see what I did there?!
I usually do the "undress" method cause that way I lose the least amount of the fruit. But I will try the pro method too. 👌🏻
It nice that you lose so little of the fruit! But it can get a bit tedious if you're doing a bunch of grapefruit at once. 😅
Thank you, very helpful. 😊
Using Tajin seasoning on this is delicious
Very good
you always hear about ER visits from cutting avocados...surprised we don't hear about more grapefruit...lol everyone only had the first method growing up bc their mom got the pampered chef funky grapefruit knife :D
Haha! Had to use that expensive grapefruit gadget somehow! They were committed! :P
Awesome finally I can cut this damned fruit 😂 the last method was the best!
for the first way, you do not need to get in-between slices, just cut the center like a square then cut around the outside edge. like a donut. they pop out automatically.
Ah, I need to remember to try that!
I personally prefer the last method
I like the 5th, thx
Method 5. I would add that once you get to the seperation part, put a plate under to collect any juice, which would be much harder to collect from the chopping board.
