    Thanks for the info. I am also able to figure out the brand. I am a side sleeper and like ultra firm mattress and all the mattresses I have tried were too soft for me. I am seriously considering just sleep on a solid wood board, but maybe put a latex topper on top the solid wood board is not a bad idea.

      Hi, thanks for your comment. The wooden board is a good start, that's what we use under our mattress. If your nose is not too sensitive, a latex topper might be a great solution.

      That's what I've also got. Wooden board plus 50mm polyethylene foam and gym mat. I'm looking into this natural latex thing for a bit of comfort. That's what I'm missing

    Looks like more of a mattress topper than an actual mattress itself. Seems to be made out of talalay latex. You would want some Dunlop latex in the base to give it more support. The smell might be because of online manufacturers the way they have to ship stuff. I would definitely suggest that you purchase within a store if you can. My experience from that has been wonderful

      Hi Alex - Thanks for watching. You're right - it is a mattress topper, and we mention that in our video. We also agree that purchasing this kind of mattress is better in a store than online. As for the type of mattress, we were looking for a firm natural latex mattress (not a hybrid one) and we ordered a Dunlop type. It's very firm and still comfortable, but the unusual smell just wouldn't go away even after several days of airing out. We eventually found a much better solution which is inexpensive and the mattress is extra firm, without any smell. We're are going to make a video about that. Thanks again.

      @@ZLhow2 This company does not use Dunlop, if you read carefully the description on their website they use "enhanced process Dunlop", which they call "earthfoam". (I was able to figure out the brand when you were unrolling the topper). This is exactly why I decided not to go with this brand because God knows what is "earthfoam" and what they add to it.

    anyone buying latex mattresses you need to be careful, because it might feel soft, but it becomes deceptively firm after about 30mins to an hour. Not as pressure relieving as you'd think especially natural talalay. Think of it as lying on a giant rubber. You are occupying it's space, and because it is responsive and wants to bounce back into position, that pressure goes through you. Just something to consider. It's very durable though, that's the main pro of latex is durability, actually it's the most durable product you can get, these things will happily last 20 years with minimal changes to the feel, but hey, resilience is not everything, you want it to be comfortable as well.... a concrete slab is resilient, doesn't mean you'd want to sleep on it...

    Hello Sir thank you so much for making this video and uploading it to here so we can all be informed. I also experienced the very same issue regarding the noticeable odor coming from the very same latex mattress topper which was bothersome and smells toxic which is concerning and am already in the process of returning it.
    I would like to ask you what is the brand that you decided to go with after returning this sleep on latex topper that was was inexpensive for you? Would you mind providing a link for it please? also I read in one of your replies to another comment that you were planning to make a video about that. would greatly appreciate your help.

      Hi, Thank you for watching and your question - Apologies for this delayed response. We tried the Latex mattress topper (twin size for easier unpacking) as an experiment to see how well it would support, but also to see whether we could deal with the odor that others had mentioned. It was very comfortable and firm. But the smell was strong and did not go away even after a week of aerating, so we decided to return it. We were thinking to try another latex mattress, but we learned after more reading that probably any latex will have that smell. Some people seem to be able to tolerate it, while others, like us, just don't like it. So we decided against another latex trial, and we looked for another alternative. We found a high density polyurethane foam mattress at Jo-Ann's fabric store (the image and other details are here www.youtube.com/@ZLhow2/community). We purchased the mattress cover and a quilted topper from a different store. Both my wife's and my backs have felt much better, and from the day we opened it there was no smell : ) We don't want to discourage you from seeking a better latex, but we did want to share what turned out to be a much better solution for us. Regarding the video, we were so happy with the new discovery, that we just forgot about making one! But we hope that all the details that we are going to put in our community page will help you. Thanks again, and good luck!

      I did view the information about that polyurethane topper that you mentioned and posted on the community section of your channel and thank you for providing the info about that in addition with the link.
      You’re a great help sir!

    This looks way too thin to be an actual mattress. Did mean to title this video "latex mattress topper"?

    • @ZLhow2
      @ZLhow2  Рік тому +1

      Hi, Thank you for your note. You're right - this is a mattress topper, and we've already made that correction on the video description. We got a three inch mattress topper as an experiment to see if we could use it as our mattress, because we figured that a higher mattress would have more room to sag. In the end it didn't work for us due to the smell and we returned it.

    You can wash Latex, its not a problem... if you had washed the latex topper with some mild soap and WARM, not HOT, WARM water and then let it naturally dry and air out, you would have gotten rid of 95% of the smell in a couple of days... the rest 5% of the smell would have been gone within a couple of weeks or upto a month... The only thing with washing this big an item is you need a TUB to wash it in and then you need some place where you can let it REST and Air dry... having a private house is desired.
