He left us struggling with this generational gap of Musicians who sing nonsense... girls, alcohol and cars...We can't identity with the likes wiz kid, davido and many.....Our parents would like us to underline with Lucky Dube Music
My the dear the audience today is more interested in listening to songs that glorify woman's physique/body, partying, drugs, money, infact all about enjoying life, today's music is no more about conscientizing the people, I mean conscious music, Burna Boy said it all that 90% of what they sing lack content, but he meant no disrespect to anybody.
There's no way you will listen to songs of Lucky Dude deeply and not be connected to the struggle of Africa. Music is a thing of the gods and the only thing that easily connect and communicate with the soul. Sleep well LEGEND
So much respect for Lucky Dube. He listened to his inner voice, and decided to do reggae music. He is the first reggae artist in South Africa, and the greatest. If you believe you can, don't hesitate, do it. If it's your time, if it's yours, then it will definitely happen. I pray for each and every artist to be able to express themselves fully. Never be afraid of who you are. STAY POSITIVE AND STAY TRUE ❤❤❤
Up till now I cry everyday for losing him, he was the love of my life, though I never met him before, the love I developed for him and his music since my childhood made me wanted to get in contact with him live,,in the process of making it possible it shocked me much to hear my love,my hero,my mentor is gone and i never stop crying till date but one thing is certain I shall see him heaven on the last day, rest in peace lucky dube you are one and only musician I have truly loved
I loved him so much, even up to now, his music is my number one! He was a genius, We dearly miss him! May He continue to rest in peace! Very irreplacable😢 Amon from Uganda!
I proposed to my wife in 2003 in Fiji & Lucky Dube had performed in 1994 or so & you couldn’t walk through any crowd or music store /center without hearing Lucky Dube. Fijians I will venture to say are ( haven’t been back since but will ) still hypnotized by him. He was like a Messiah really. Just incredible impact on a people who in their own rights are fascinating.
In three days... it will be 14 years since you were stolen from us. We would have liked to see you perform until the ripe age ofv70 yrs. You did leave us with a wealth of your Genius and for that we are grateful. Καλον υπνο αστερι.Join the angels in chorus...We miss you terribly...It's been 14years, still our eyes can't seem to dry up...'cause the tears can't stop running.
Bob pioneered reggae but Lucky adds more musical instruments to his reggae and brings out the good flavour and enriched Reggae Music. His songs is just so soulful. RIP champ 😞
This documentary brought back a lot of good memories. My musical hero, one of the greatest if not the greatest. Forever missed but your legacy lives on Lucky Dube !
I had the honor of touring with him briefly as a production staff member during the summer of 2002. This video reminded me of a lot of memories I had made that summer, and I learned a bit about his past that I never even knew (b/c he was making music when I was a small child, and I was not aware of South African reggae until I was invited to their tour!). I remember when I heard about his passing, but I hadn't spoken to anybody in the group for a few years by then and didn't have direct contact info; but while moving some pics / videos to a new server I came across my pics from that summer and started watching some videos to reminisce. I see Thuthukani has stepped up as the frontman. He isn't Lucky and has his own sound, but as he grows into the shoes he's starting to sound a little closer to how Lucky did it (in watched a few videos online) One of these days I will need to reconnect, me and Thuthu got along well during our time together and a reconnection is long overdue! Sorry for rambling on what's in my head but after watching this I gotta get it out! PS... My time with him taught me that he was a genuine saint of a person, very caring and one of the most level headed people I ever met! He did not have an ounce of any negativity in his personality! This is rare for humans, and especially in the music business! Like another commenter mentioned, he will live on forever with the art he put on his canvas.
Simply put he was gifted but also blessed to be loved by people . It was a combination of his lyrics, persona ,commitment, dedication & he foreshadowed it all before he passed. He must have known it all along.
South Africa didn't know and don't know what legacy Lucky Dube had. The whole world accords Maximum Respect for his good message to the world. We lost a pan Africanist , a Friend and a global icon. I hope we could name different places after Him
I cried when I watched this documentary. He may have been not robbed financially by recording companies but he was robbed credit and respect in SA. I agree. It is a pity that reggae music is no longer played
People die, but you have lived forever, you're really not dead our African hero, I loved and still love everything about you, the beautiful soul that has lived shortly but made a difference in many lives
I remember when our church priest referenced him in one of his sermons in the early 90s. Three times visiting Uganda and we still didn't get enough of him. RIP Legend. Your legacy lives on.
I received this video in 2009 from a friend. It made me think seriously about my own life. It actually gave me the confidence I needed to fight towards my own survival. Sometimes God sends us angels that we never expected. Lucky Dube, was my angel!! His music lifted my spirits and gave me hope. I knew I could survive being in that nursing home. And yes I do believe in God!!
Definitly the king of reggae , the best artist i've seen simple person, sing with his soul and fight for the truth in this world that we will never seen.. Your music still alive we love you Lucky ❤👑

To think that such a person like L. Dube was assassinated by his own people can not be explained. I share tears by just hearing his music. The messages in each of his songs, the lyrics, beat, everything resonates with me
@@tsatsimafokoane1719I can explain for him... He was shot during a carjacking in front of his brother's home in his home town, just after dropping off his kids. He tried to drive off but ended up hitting a tree and I believe he was pronounced dead on the scene. I might have some of these details slightly off, but for the most part, that's how he was killed by his own people (somebody from his home town/country; not by his government, if that's how you read into the comment above) South Africa has always been a hot place for crime, from what I understand; It is possible that the assailants might not have even known who they killed until they saw it on the news! I'm not sure if they were ever caught in all the years since, but when it happened it was unknown who was responsible for his murder.

Exactly, I have watch just a few I can get about lucky then I wonder, why is that he just have so few interviews,,,,,as opposed to even Bob, Tosh m and Culture despite all the technological advancements of his time
His music was powerful just like artists like Michael Jackson and Motown artists they believed in equality and treating people right. It's been a long fight for ethnic minorities.
He's just like Peter Tosh. Bob Marley had to deal with being Biracial and being confused. Bob called himself a Black man however his father was White. He was multiracial so Bob stood out in Jamaica being light skinned
