Nardis Jazz Club - 10. Yıl Belgeseli / 10th Anniversary Documentary

Nardis is a jazz club opened in 2002 due to the demands of the city.
It is a live performance venue that has helped different projects come
to life 6 days a week. It has also been the most consistent jazz venue
in the last 10 years. If you ask what consistency is; it is the
perseverance of never changing attitude towards the musicians, the
audience, the neighbours and jazz. Understanding jazz standards takes
time and interest. It becomes clear through the passing years that
just like these jazz standards, Nardis has its very own set of
standards. It is a small building after all, there is no capacity for
either more audience or musicians. In my opinion, the reason a venue
with limited capacity is still running lies within the word 'club'.
The Turkish Language Association defines this word as 'A place where
members come together'. Membership to this club is free, the cover
charge is just to support the musicians on stage. Yes, Nardis is a
'business' but the only thing they sell is JAZZ!
The story of the most consistent jazz building in the city and,
without doubt, one of my favourite projects to work on.

2002 yılında şehrin ihtiyacı ve talebi üzerine kurulmuş bir caz kulübüdür Nardis. Haftanın 6 günü farklı projelerin nefes bulduğu canlı caz performanslarının alanıdır. Şehrin 10 yıldır en istikrarlı sahnesidir caza dair. "İstikrar" ne demek derseniz; müzisyenlere, seyircilere, semt sakinlerine ve caza karşı duruşlarında geçen senelerde zerre değişiklik olmayan bir durumdur. Bilirsiniz cazın standartları vardır ve anlamak zaman alır, ilgi ister. Geçen seneler içerisinde Nardis'in de standartları olduğunu orada vakit geçirdikçe anlamaya başlıyor insan. Eni boyu belli bir binacık, bu bina ne daha fazla insan alır ne de daha fazla müzisyen. Kapasitesi belli bir mekanın sahnesinin hiç bir fiziki değişiklik yapmadan on senedir açık olmasının sebebi "Kulüp" kelimesinin içeriğinde yatıyor diye düşünüyorum. TDK'da geçen tanımıyla "üye olanların toplandıkları yer" olan "KULÜP" Nardis'in üyeliği bedava. Kapıda ödenen para ise sahnedeki müzisyenlere destek, evet Nardis ticari bir işletme ama sattığı tek şey CAZ !
Şehrin en istikrarlı caz binasının hikayesi, şüphesiz en keyif aldığım projelerden bir tanesi.
