The only way I found I can say no to a deal is to repeat to myself, “but I can get 100% off if I don’t buy it.” Even then it’s a struggle but sometimes it helps
I base some of those decisions on whether it’s a regular sale cycle sale or a once-a-year type of deal. So sometimes my mantra is “it will go on sale again.”
I say At this particular time when prices are going up from week to week it is best to buy as cheap as possible on and along! Get the deals while you can because that may dry up with food shortages etc! Also do what you’re doing now and work on eating down some of what you have but replacing while you can be picky about your sale purchases. This is what I do because that is what my mother did in the 70s when all the inflation was killing American families pocketbooks. She also stopped for gas where it was cheapest along her route and kept the tank full as much as she could with the cheapest gas around us. Every little bit helps.
My husband would get so mad when I would buy discounted and clearance food that “we didn’t need” until he went grocery shopping with me one day and realized how much groceries actually cost…suffice to say I now get free reign to buy anything clearance, especially if it’s meat!!
I'm a newlywed and thankfully my husband knows how much stuff costs (I did teach him about the clearance shelf at Walmart and he was kind of amazed). I kind of feel like he still thinks I go overboard but after a trip this weekend, I should be done buying meat for the whole summer. It is so nice to shop in our basement!
A lot of cattle are fed meat from other cows to help offset feeding prices (which is how Mad Cow disease got started), so the label is just saying that those specific cows weren't fed beef byproduct.
I love seeing your monthly grocery hauls. It’s much easier for me to understand your process a month at a time than to try to wrap my head around how/what you are feeding your family one grocery trip at a time. Your method is definitely a long-term approach and is easier to understand a month at a time.
I love watching grocery hauls. I'm so jealous of the "Kroger" clearance items. We don't have any of those stores here and I rarely find any type of clearance in my stores. Usually hair care products and things I'd never use. I do have Aldi, so that's where I save the most. Loss leaders have been few and far between on the other stores.
Same here Jessmom98! I live in south FL, and we can grow peppers year round, but I've never seen clearance priced peppers anywhere ever, what's up with that?! Same on Aldi being the best overall savings, BUT that's until about two weeks ago. Now when it comes to meats, esp chicken, Aldi is far pricier than Walmart in my area - chicken breasts in the flat pack are now $3.69/lb and rarely available (starting about 3 weeks ago). Walmart was still $1.99/lb until last week when it jumped to $2.29/lb but at least I can usually get the flat packs there. I realize w/gas, etc. all stores are raising prices, but Aldi's CEO seems to have grossly over inflated many items overnight, I assume on a scale with what makes since in Europe, but they're losing customers in the U.S. because of it.
I also am jealous of the Kroger stores and the amazing deals! I've in Missouri and there's nothing like that around. I am within 15 minutes of THREE Wal-Marts and an Aldi, though.
I personally love all your monthly grocery hauls. I always curious to see the deals you find. If you divide the total you spent this month by 4, it only comes out to $84.50 per week, which is AMAZING for a family of six. We are a family of 4 and I struggle to keep my weekly budget between $100 and $125, but my grocery budget also includes any household items and toiletries. I think you did a fantastic job in April!!
My boys call cauliflower "ghost broccoli," so that's how I pronounce it now. 😆 Also, I made the sheet pan chicken brushetta last night, and it was delicious.
My daughter made up the word "blocki" for broccoli and cauliflower (which is "blomkål" in Swedish) and we still use it if for example I want my husband to buy either one when he goes to the store and pick the one that looks best or is the cheapest if they both look good or when we buy a frozen bag that contain both "It's a bag of blocki"
I enjoy the monthly grocery haul videos. I also miss the ones where you would just show what you guys had for dinner each night over a certain time period
Yes! Any dry goods, freezable dairy, meat or bread I can get as cheap as possible, I will buy it now because I can't imagine paying double or triple for it later.
If you are broke like me it is easy to say no. Because you literally only have enough money to make dinner for the week, lunches, breakfast until the next paycheck. And I know, some deals are really hard to pass up but if you can't afford it, it's easy 😂
We live in an apartment with very little storage & an apartment size fridge. So it’s easy for me to say no. You have a ton of storage for pantry & freezer items, so that makes it harder for you to say no.
They didn’t feed the cows a commercially prepared grain product with meat by-products, bone meal, etc. Many of the cows in England that developed “mad cow disease“ were fed meat by-products which probably caused the widespread disease.
I really like seeing the whole months worth of groceries at one time. A weird month might be good, a realistic view of when different life things are happening.
Love your grocery hauls. I don’t have local stores with those kind of bargains but I did find Bountiful Harvest. A box of fresh produce (fruits and vegetables) for $21 every two weeks. They also have other “packs you can buy and I’m getting 15 POUNDS of strawberries for $20 which I think is a good deal right now. Did I mention I learned to can and dehydrate? Nothing goes to waste and I’m getting very creative. Anyway, picking that up tomorrow, hitting the local store to pick up loss leaders ($5 total), and that’s it. So about $45 for two weeks! Full freezer and pantry STILL 😮🤯.
One way I made a big dent in my freezer is I put a dry erase board on the side of my frigr and reorganized the freezer, weiting down everything I had in it. When I meal-planned for the week,I would look at my list and start there. As I used what was in my freezer,I updated my board-even if I bought more food to freeze. It was a game changer for me! I started planning meals on oldest food first and it stopped me from "finding " freezer burned items and having to throw it away. I got the idea from Gia on Marriage and Motherhood's channel. So glad I did!
I did the pantry cleanout this month as well to try and prepare before my new baby makes her appearance at the end of May. Now it's time to fill the freezer back up with freezer meals! Saved roughly 50% on my usual grocery bill last month so that's a good bonus 😊
I enjoy watching the monthly hauls, but would like to see some no spend months thrown in now and then. But you do what you feel that you have time for. We'll be here!❤
That would be interesting to put in a middle of a monthly haul. "This is the week, I'm shopping my pantry." Might be a good one to do during the spring summer if there is any gardening/salad going on. But it also might be harder to do because that's kind of a daily snapshot thing on everything you didn't buy because you already had it.
Love these type of videos. This type of video has helped motivate me to keep track of what I'm actually spending on groceries. I am happy to report that I have been able to get my average weekly spending down to $150 for a family of four (all eat like adults) and a 80 lb dog. Hoping to improve the next month.
Finally, a video that shows the cumulative total of shopping around what you have. I spend roughly $400/month on everything. My pantry and freezer space is small and I find that shopping the deals for later makes a difference vs. a $250 one time restock.
I love the monthly hauls, especially yours, because this is how I've always shopped, lol, and it's nice to see the random grocery hauls you get, and then what you do with it all later
Grocery hauls are a favorite of mine! I spent $91 this month and about $35 of that was on stock up deals (I can't pass them up either). I too have a good pantry and freezer situation, so I'm slowly incorporating that into daily meals. Love this channel! Love that you turned me on to freezing homemade stuffed bell peppers! Cheers!
Yes unfortunately for me one of my freezers decided to do a “freezer clean out” for me by breaking down. On the bright side I discovered it before I lost everything. Enjoy your videos thank you for all the information u give to your viewers.

Please continue the grocery hauls! They don't have to be monthly. I like to see what prices you pay for what items, and I like hearing how you work through current stock + meal plan with fresh ingredients. I don't have a great place to buy clearance near me, but the meal planning using what's on sale and what you have is super helpful! Any meal planning, or finding clearance/markdowns at different stores, would also be great video ideas. I enjoy your fitness and organizing videos too! Right now I'm working on reducing food waste and lowering my grocery bill so these low-cost grocery hauls are great inspiration. Hearing your struggles avoiding sales or going over your budget makes you feel more relatable, and reminds me that it's OK to shop off the list, especially if it's something that will save money later to feed my family.
We got a new stand up freezer so I cleaned out my smaller freezers and stocked the larger one plus we shopped for clearance at least once a week. We are lucky to live in Atlanta and have Krogers all over the place. So when we see a Kroger we stop and walk that store and buy clearance. My freezers and pantry are well stocked. I’m super proud of my stock pile. I have major “lack of food insecurities” so I feel like we have to always have a ton of stuff. Plus we went to the bread store and stocked up on bread and snacks. I’ll continue to shop for clearance. Looking forward to May to see what we can find!! 💜💜💜💜

You should grow the lettuce cut the bottoms of the lettuce and put into water Till roots form then chuck it into a pot with soil then u have lettuce that grows back when u give it a hair cut and u can do this trick with leeks and spring onions as well
Would love to see your once a month hauls BUT would love it even more to see what you cook to clear out some of the freezer space. Because of you, I have a stand up freezer in our garage that is FILLED to the brim. This was such a blessing when my husband was laid off for over a year when covid hit. I want to do a freezer challenge but am so afraid to dwindle it down. It is a security thing for me for sure! Anyways, just wanted to say that because of your videos, our family feels so secure when it comes to food. THANK YOU!
& that's why I prefer to pick my own produce & meat myself. I have to see what I am getting. & $338 for a family of 6 is pretty darn good!! I Love any grocery haul videos that you do 😊
I feel this. I usually shop at "Gucci Kroger" aka the biggest kroger in my town. I can occasionally find bakery clearance but that's about it. Then I recently started checking out a smaller kroger a couple times a month and always find tons of clearance there, especially clearance produce! I'll be trying during May to mostly clear out our fridge and freezer but I'll have to stay away from the store that has clearance!
I have no help for you with passing up food deals, I have the same problem! My freezer was packed and my husband recently lost his job so I am so very grateful for that! We're mostly working from freezer and pantry right now. I'm also working on how to take things from the freezer to the shelf (we're prone to hurricanes here). I had a frozen turkey i got on sale around Thanksgiving and cooked it up and have some for turkey tettrazini for dinner and am canning turkey and broth for shelf stable options. So happy to have that out of the freezer!
When we 1st moved into our house, a mirror was on the floor just waiting to go up. My little Lola looked at it everyday & barked at herself. I purposely left it on the floor for weeks cause I got such a kick out of it 🤣
I love seeing the monthly grocery hauls, but I like seeing how you use the food more! We have been shelf cooking this month and made good progress with clearing out the freezers 👏🏼 yay!
I live in a small town in MN with 2 grocery stores. Neither store EVER has reduced prices, even when they have hit the used by date. I’m envious of your deals!
I don’t need to see a regular grocery haul but I love to see your mark down hauls. I’m so jealous, I never come across reduced items. I live vicariously through you.
Just did a little haul of my own and was at the local Albertson's./Safeway. Was in the meat section and saw those ham steaks there-- not on sale. For Price comparison to Portland Or, and not on sale they were about $6,00 a piece-- and by about I mean 6.14, 6.23, 6.36-- yeah, you got a VERY good deal.
I like the food hauls, because it helps me get inspired, get ideas, price check… like winco for apples!!! Holy moly that might put apples back on the menu!
I had a very similar month 😂 I had planned to have a low spend month and clear out my freezer and pantry a bit. BUT Albertsons had some AMAZING deals this month! So lots of prepping and restocking of the freezer was done. And then I went to Fred Meyer and mine is going to be renovating soon and had dozens of pallets of shelf stable goods marked 50-75% off!! There's no way I could turn that down! So in the end, it wasn't a low spend month, but we're set for a long time and I was still within my monthly $300 grocery budget. I call that a win!
I'm a LOYAL FFM fan, and I love all of your grocery hauls - when I stumbled onto your channel about 1.5 years ago, I went back through all your posts and caught up, so I can say that this post/vid seems a little different than usual, and I really loved it. I don't recall seeing you do a week-by-week grocery haul cumulative total very often, and I really enjoyed it! Everything you bought is quality food for your family, with rare exception (vaca junk / high carb for the extreme activities don't count, right?). They are blessed you're in charge of the food/cooking!
My oldest daughter decided to clean my food storage pantry. After I saw what she did, I was appreciated the gesture. Until I realized stuff was missing. When I asked her ,she told me she threw away some stuff because they were past the best before date. I believe I shed a tear.
I love to see your monthly grocery hauls. You have inspired me immensely to shop only for reduced food. We are in southern CA and I shop the Ralphs (owned by Kroger) twice a week for the deals. Your channel is what I watch most because they make me happy.
I love the monthly grocery hauls, but do it when you can and we can all accept and understand the occasional "weirder" months. Also, no shame in the clearance game. At those prices, it's more foolish to walk away if you can afford it at the time in order to feed your family for longer at an overall much cheaper rate. Keep being you, Christine!
My wife and I are a family of two, our grocery bill was around 130.00. Now with the increases we are about 190.00 a month in total. Our grocery shopping and meal preparing allows us to take lunch with us. We also spend about 30.00 to 50.00 a month on eating out for the month, but 90% of the months we are at the 30.00 dollar range. Thx for the videos, I’m on always on the lookout for your frugal ideas they help me changes things a bit.
I love shopping the deals but I’m finding them less often here in NJ. I love your monthly grocery haul video I think it’s so cool to see how you shop and how much you spend in a month. We have been eating out of our stock pile for a couple months (just me and hubby) and my chest freezer is half empty. It was so full it would barely close. My kitchen freezer is low now too but I could probably do 2 more months without shopping for anything other than fresh produce and dairy products.
I'm working on my freezers too. It's so hard! And it's a sin to pass on a good deal. It goes against everything I stand for. It drives the hubby crazy but he's the first to point out the clearance stickers.
Ooh, this is one of my favorite videos you've made! It gives perspective to those single grocery hauls to see how they add up throughout the month. So, so impressed that you are feeding a family on this little!
We went on vacation in April and cleared out all of the meat and vegetables from our fridge and freezer (we only have the fridge freezer). Also cleared out some canned vegetables, potatoes, sweet potatoes and rice. Also dairy products. We don’t stockpile a lot. It took about 3 weeks. Had to do a big shop after we got home - about $300. Sweet potatoes are so cheap here in Louisiana - can’t believe the price in Idaho!
When I have a huge amount of food in my freezers like you do,I truly dont care how good the sale is.I just restock on fresh produce, eggs, milk and coffee creamer etc.NO FREEZER STUFF UNTIL FREEZER IS MORE THEN HALF EMPTY.Now there is a challenge for you!
I have said before but I am a numbers nerd when it comes to budgets. So, I figured it out to be $56.33/ person/ month or $14. 08/ person/week. THAT, my friend Is INCREDIBLE ! ! HATS OFF TO YOU !
I love watching your grocery haul videos. I loved watching your gardening and fresh vegetable videos last year. Watching you grow, freezer or can your fresh produce inspired me to start a garden. Please show more of that when you plant your garden this year.
I love watching your grocery haul videos! In my area, stores don't really have too many clearance items (and when they do it's nothing that I would normally purchase), so it's interesting for me to see the differences of location.

We've got a golden retriever that barks and even growls at her own reflection. She's funny.
You should grow the lettuce cut the bottoms of the lettuce and put into water Till roots form then chuck it into a pot with soil then u have lettuce that grows back when u give it a hair cut and u can do this trick with leeks and spring onions as well
Celery to it can be a little hard to start but I have two huge plants and haven't had to buy celery for cooking forever
I Love any grocery haul videos that you do 😊
I can't do that for a family of 4. However, I buy paper products, soap, bleach, ect at the grocery store as well.
I enjoy the once a month grocery hauls. Your grocery haul videos are the only ones I watch.
When we 1st moved into our house, a mirror was on the floor just waiting to go up. My little Lola looked at it everyday & barked at herself. I purposely left it on the floor for weeks cause I got such a kick out of it 🤣
Just want to say I so appreciate that you timestamp your videos--makes it so easy to go back and find something I want to watch again!
You are so welcome!
“I don’t know how to say no when I see these low prices.” Same!!!!!! Especially when you know it’s an awesome deal!
I like the one month grocery add-ups, especially right now with prices rising. I'd like to see them stay.
I still want to see grocery month hauls! I love this kind of thing! Very relatable!
The one month grocery hauls are one of my favorite videos of yours! I’d love if you continued to make them!
Six people in your family, $334 dollars for a whole month that's about 57 dollars per person! I'd say this is pretty great budget shopping 🥰
I don’t need to see a regular grocery haul but I love to see your mark down hauls. I’m so jealous, I never come across reduced items. I live vicariously through you.
These one month grocery hauls are my favorite videos!!!
Please continue doing the monthly grocery hauls, they are relaxing for me to watch
I love the monthly grocery hauls! Please keep them up!
Glad you like them!
I call that a win as well!
your dog is so cute. She has changed so much since you have brought her home. Adorable!!!! I also love watching all your videos. love your channel
I love to watch grocery hauls and meals people make.
I like the one month grocery hauls. please keep doing them. I also would love to see a pantry/ freezer clean out.
I love watching the monthly grocery hauls. It inspires me.
Hi Christine! 😊👋 Thanks for another haul video!❤️💯
You are so welcome
I love the hauls too! I love clearance shopping so much that I'm happy to watch what you get too! lol
Those are some amazing deals!
I love to see your monthly grocery hauls. You have inspired me immensely to shop only for reduced food. We are in southern CA and I shop the Ralphs (owned by Kroger) twice a week for the deals. Your channel is what I watch most because they make me happy.
I love your grocery hauls!! Been watching since you had 70k subs! Please dont stop them. I miss seeing what your kids eat for school too
I love the monthly grocery hauls, but do it when you can and we can all accept and understand the occasional "weirder" months. Also, no shame in the clearance game. At those prices, it's more foolish to walk away if you can afford it at the time in order to feed your family for longer at an overall much cheaper rate. Keep being you, Christine!
I love watching grocery hauls! I don't know why but keep up with it, please!
I love seeing your grocery hauls. ESPECIALLY all your discount grocery shopping and hauls.
I love your grocery haul videos. Since I've been following your example and searching out those clearance deals my freezer is full.
Love your monthly grocery haul vids. Please don't stop doing them.
I'm working on my freezers too. It's so hard! And it's a sin to pass on a good deal. It goes against everything I stand for. It drives the hubby crazy but he's the first to point out the clearance stickers.
Please continue the monthly grocery hall videos, they are some of my favourite videos
Keep these monthly grocery hauls coming!! I love seeing them
I like the month long grocery hauls, because they show how to really shop sales and still get a wide variety of food for your family.
My church got a grant for the food bank and using your tips I bought a "boatload" of food staples for the pantry.
I like watching your one month cost for groceries. If you get a years worth that would be cool to see too!
Please keep the grocery hauls coming! They are so fun.
Call -- uh - flower.... The strawberries look amazing!
I love your grocery hauls. Please keep sharing them. I love how you shop and forward to watching the videos.
I absolutely love your one month grocery videos!
My dog Wyatt saw his own reflection for the first time a few days ago. It was hilarious!
Love the grocery hauls especially because your purchases are used in your wonderful recipes.
I actually love your monthly grocery series!
I love watching your grocery haul videos! In my area, stores don't really have too many clearance items (and when they do it's nothing that I would normally purchase), so it's interesting for me to see the differences of location.
I do like seeing your grocery hauls/ sales, but I totally get wanting to clean out your pantry and freezers. I'm currently in stock up mode 😉.
I love the one month groceries hauls.
