Total boat count was 36. I was WAY under at 18. Thanks for playing along and commenting. Huge thanks to everyone that followed the Bella journey so far and coming to say hi on Bella's Instagram. This has been a fun series!
Dayum I often find some of the wrist watches Captains and crew members are often wearing are simply gorgeous. One thing I’ve noticed in my new addiction to super yacht videos. I’ve learned to keep my eyes peeled.
Captain and Crew make it look pretty simple and just another day aboard a Super Yacht. Of course we all know that's not really the case, exceptional skill and preparation make it look so easy! Thanks for sharing.
Love watching, Jared. Sailed years ago. Mostly the Great Lakes. Moved to Florida and sold the boat! Go figure. Your videos make us want to get back to it. Stay safe and have fun out there! Thanks for sharing your life with us.
That intro music before St. John was epic with the shots you had with it. Love Saint John. Used to work as a charter captain there. Beautiful part of the world
We have electricity back and it's good to see another video. Enjoyed seeing Becca's smile at 0:30 and glad you put her in the intro. Also glad captain Luke had no problem with the bridge (docking looked to be trickier). Looking forward to the next one!
Ah, the Simpson Bay Bridge! I've watched videos of it's casualties. I bought a boat there five years ago (a lovely 40-ft sailboat) and went through that bridge numerous times before bringing her home to the US. The bridge tender would be in that little cabin that is ripped away 24 seconds into your video. My boat was named "Blue Moon" and often the tender could be heard singing the song as we went through (I have a video of that!). Other times they'd be yelling at everyone to speed up so traffic could resume. A very dynamic spot with lots of traffic. I doubt if they yell at the big boats!
Went in&o of this cut in the fall of 1990!. As I recall we had to pull up our fenders to make it through. The problem was being locked inside the lagoon for 7 days. There was a general strike called over France wanting to remove the islands duty free status. Beside that it was a nice place to be holed up!
The best action to outwit sea sickness is to get on deck in the wind and watch the horizon. Try to get an eyeball on the captain and crew. Watch them. It’s calming. On deck outside It all goes away and the views are stupendous. The worst thing you can do is sit inside the cabin and watch everyone constantly tilt and stagger. It makes you feel helpless and scared. The hairs in your ears feel the spinning inner ear fluids as you toggle around in what seems like a non moving room. You don’t see why it’s happening. The reason is the foundation you think is solid is fluid and moving constantly. That spins and jostles the inner ear fluids and your brain tells you your falling and or are having a sever dizzy spell. When you get on deck your brain is conscious of your movement and relates it to the water and waves. Keep your eye on the horizon. Just like driving in a car. Trust me ...it works getting up on deck ...outside. Do it as often as necessary. Eventually you will relate the feeling of movement to the outside events taking place and you will relax. Then it all becomes fun again. It becomes part of the journey and not the nightmare.
It wouldn’t matter if you asked god to help you! Lamp when u sea sick .... u are sea sick’ some people take days to recover from it. Even when they are already on land ! Trust me 20 years on the ocean. Nothing works best thing u can do is lay down face up and do not move. The second u get up you are sea sick as hell again.
carton of beer for a missed grapple throw on lobster pot first pot . well done guys going through Birkenhead bridge as a lad was fun then you get captain . 70 ft ketch with big sticks and .Fun With chain steering . He got a good feed to open bridge wider
In the 70's, We would bring a pie, or ten bux, up to Mr Browns house to make an appointment for the bridge. I sculled my enginless sloop through a few times.
As a child we lived on snoopy island which is the marina you guys docked on i believe..Right across from Simpson bay.We lived in our sailboat the "vigor" this was well over 40 years back..its weird to see how things have changed.
I have been through that bridge a few times with my sailboat. It is tight and is like the narrow part of an hour glass. The French side bridge has been broken for years. We spent 3.5 months in quarantine in 2020 in the lagoon.
As an alumni of the beer balcony at the St Martin Yacht Club nice job Captain. I have seen some close calls in my 5 pm Happy Hour yacht driving reviews. Question for you guys: how many boats went through with Bella at 5 pm? Do you need an agent in St Marteen to get you a bridge passage reservation?
Welcome to my island 🇸🇽 love your videos... you have some fans nearby where your docked actually ❤️💯😊 should have a meet up so we can show you guys our island 🇸🇽
hey great video,, makes me sad that I can't be in SXM,, can't tell you how many times I've been at the SMYC bar to watch all the yachts come in,,, no doubt you enjoyed a couple bevies there!! Tough to fly the drone now with the new no fly zones built in by DJI,, if I could be there I'd be treating you to a round of drinks,,,
@@jaredwatney I like how he's pushing them a piling came up and he stopped just in time to go around it and push again... Little bit of boating skill there.. Nice replying you'll have a great fun time... And make some money...
These super yachts should have 360 cameras like some cars do. It would make a maneuver like this much easier. It would give a drones eye view of the situation.
0:17 - Captain: "That bridge takes out some of the best." 0:21 -- Yacht: 1 - Bridge: 0 I'd call that the yacht taking out the bridge, not the other way around.
Must be nice to come into this world with no need to worry about money. 74 Chevy and my mountain bike, and drones. Yachts....? While I drool and sleep!
I took my 24' beam sailing cat through an ICW draw bridge with two lifting pieces where only one side was able to open (maintenance on one side). I asked the bridge tender what the width from the tip of the down piece to the tip of the open piece was and he said, "I don't know, buddy, that's up to you". WTF man? As your guys said, from a distance it looks really tight but as you get closer you start to realize how much room there is. I've found the same is true for slips. I had a dockhand telling me over radio "yeah this is a 30' slip you'll be fine" and I'm looking at it from 100m away thinking "my tender won't even fit in there!"
How much could it possibly cost to make the other side lift and dredge it wider. Probably the same amount it costs to repair the damaged ships. You would think the regulars would chip in and pay, you might even get some insurers to kick in
Jared, as always: Great content, great clips, great editing, I just finished the whole "Bella-Series" and I really enjoyed watching the episodes. I told you that a while ago, but I simply have to repeat it: You are an awesome talent when it comes to filming and editing, and watching the whole "Bella-Series" I guess everybody will agree on that: You're an awesome storyteller too. So, I hope we will see many many clips from Motoryacht Bella and to you and the whole crew: Stay safe, stay healthy my friend! Kind regards from Germany, Philipp
Any pros cons from captains that have gone thru this bridge that prefer fly bridge vs interior helm station or just preference? Keep up the incredible videos and info for all of us in the industry!! Thanks again, Capt Steve
Im not a super yacht captain but i drive a 50 footer on twin screw but I’d say a helm station as close as possible to the side of the boat upwind to get as close as possible to the ‘safe zone’
Another excellent video Jared - both your drone work and editing were spot on - really enjoying watching your channel grow. Curious how the Yacht Bella compares in size to the Yacht Arriance ??? Can’t wait for the next video !!!
Total boat count was 36. I was WAY under at 18. Thanks for playing along and commenting.
Huge thanks to everyone that followed the Bella journey so far and coming to say hi on Bella's Instagram.
This has been a fun series!
Impressive parking job! 😬
Aww, Captain talking to his little girl was the best part of the video. So sweet. Respect Dad.
We came through the Simpson BAY BRIDGE a few weeks ago in a driving rain storm that cleared up by the time we dropped the anchor.
Dayum I often find some of the wrist watches Captains and crew members are often wearing are simply gorgeous. One thing I’ve noticed in my new addiction to super yacht videos. I’ve learned to keep my eyes peeled.
Love the Engineering at the end.....💙 I need a video of him changing that light bulb
Phew, THAT is a tight squeeze. Respect to the Captain. A true professional.
Captain and Crew make it look pretty simple and just another day aboard a Super Yacht. Of course we all know that's not really the case, exceptional skill and preparation make it look so easy! Thanks for sharing.
Made my palms sweat a little. I have a difficult enough time with my carver 42 in wind or current. Nice helm work!
Nice job. Cool video. I love sitting at the yacht club watching you guys come through that bridge.
Great video Jared 👍👍👍. Well done Luke. I knew that you would do this without any problems.
Very skilled Captain. 😊
Love watching, Jared. Sailed years ago. Mostly the Great Lakes. Moved to Florida and sold the boat! Go figure. Your videos make us want to get back to it. Stay safe and have fun out there! Thanks for sharing your life with us.
That is awesome! Thanks for the comment and appreciate the support!

Heyy jared fellow South African here love the videos keep it up...you inspire me so much
Hey Luca! Thanks man
Great Job Luke, I know the bridge!!!! and again Love the videos !!!!
I've lived in St.Maarten all my life seeing this is Awesome and yes that area in general is dangerous Good Luck.
I'm impressed. I have flown into St. Martin as a pilot on a private jet. I thought staying away from the mountain on takeoff was sporty.
What seamanship, what a docking manouver. Compliments! And I'm a licensed captain.
Efficient teamwork! Well done all. Great drone footage. Thanks for sharing
Been through that bridge on many yachts. Great job Captain!!
We have electricity back and it's good to see another video. Enjoyed seeing Becca's smile at 0:30 and glad you put her in the intro. Also glad captain Luke had no problem with the bridge (docking looked to be trickier). Looking forward to the next one!
I’ve seen Bella pull into a BVI dock 2 years ago, impressive
Nice driving Lord Luke!

Always love watching the super Yachts struggle on my 30 foot sloop
I'm not sure what I'm more impressed with, the yacht maneuvering or the drone flying. 🤔 Let's just call it a tie. Nice job Jared. 👍
Or the clickbait
They have drone with gps tracking and it follows you
It's Jared yo
I have really enjoyed this journey with crew!! Well done getting through the bridge!!! Docking was really close! Love from Vermont

While in/near St. Maarten, be sure to check out Lit Lounge in Anguilla (Sandy Ground).
Excellent video thanks guys
Missed it by 7, I had 42 boats. Nerves of steel with the bridge crossing.
?
Great job there Captain
Stumbled on your channel. Best videography and post production I’ve seen on youtube in a long time! Good content and well edited.
Thanks so much for that comment!! Makes me happier that it should haha
Couldn't agree more.
Lived in St Maarten. Great sport watching boats come in and out Simpson Bay. Lived right around the block from the bridge.
Sooo much traffic through there now.
Great photography as always, Jared... great content, too.
carton of beer for a missed grapple throw on lobster pot first pot . well done guys going through Birkenhead bridge as a lad was fun then you get captain . 70 ft ketch with big sticks and .Fun With chain steering . He got a good feed to open bridge wider
Simpson Bay is home sweet home!! 💓
In the 70's, We would bring a pie, or ten bux, up to Mr Browns house to make an appointment for the bridge. I sculled my enginless sloop through a few times.
You are so cool... The music is good for
I love your yacht videos. For me its time to dream.
Thanks Mairis!
As a child we lived on snoopy island which is the marina you guys docked on i believe..Right across from Simpson bay.We lived in our sailboat the "vigor" this was well over 40 years back..its weird to see how things have changed.
Watched the Steve Jobs (wife's) 370 footer go through the St. Martin bridge. About 12" clearance on either side!!
oo you added becca to the intro, I love to see it
Hi Jared, love your videos, how’s your lovely lady and her art work going. Love you life. Stay safe
Trevor from Northumberland, fun and informative, will be looking for more of your vids.
Brilliant shots 👌🏾🇿🇦
😂 $5 is fair, our heaving line fine if you miss on the 1st go is a case of beers. 🍻
Awesome vid. 😎
Yeah same!!
...And according to Bullit, there is no such thing as free beer...?
Same on that one! I case for every line that goes in!
That was as smooth as fresh churned butter!

Nice to see a video again!
Lol, I saw the intro and instantly subscribed
Jared, just found out you're back on a yacht, congrats! So good to have you back; looking forward to traveling with you once again.
This is a good crew. I wish I had good mates working with me on my sites, like these guys.
The ship’s technician is awesome, I wanna see more of him.
An excellent video. 💙 T.E.N.
Welcome to my island 🇸🇽 love your videos... you have some fans nearby where your docked actually ❤️💯😊 should have a meet up so we can show you guys our island 🇸🇽
Good job
Could You please make a video about looks engeeniers work day at yachts? And I very like your yacht content btw. Cheers.
Yes, i'm also veeeery interested in engineers job on board :-)
Súper captain , perfect.
Hey, i have a really important question!!! Whats the song called playing at 0:50 ? BTW really awesome Video

Amazing, you are just up the islands from me in Trinidad.
Whew! Glad you made it through St. Martens. The suspense was killing me. Can you name any of the boats that didn’t make it through safely?
Thanks for the wishes. A light google and you'll see a few videos of crashes
Looks like you have a great crew there. Great job getting through the bridge.
Chew on raw Ginger root prior to getting underway, it helps the stomach stay calm.
Awsome Job
Backing in the spot was the Impressive movement on this boat 🌸
agree, would scare the hell out of me.
Nice job Mate...
I noticed you were using the tinder as sort of a tugboat on the Port side to push a little bit that's cool...Capt. Cooke.
Yeah sometimes they can make it worse but often they just there to help as an emergency.
@@jaredwatney I like how he's pushing them a piling came up and he stopped just in time to go around it and push again... Little bit of boating skill there..
Nice replying you'll have a great fun time... And make some money...
What a build up. I thought it was tight. You are taking the piss. You could get a Super Tanker through there.
Another great video to watch, keep it up
Thanks Archie

So impressive. I get sketched out going threw on my 50ft sailboat. lol
How do you go through there when you have strong wind on the beam?
Speed and thrusters
Love the video and love the channel
Love the comments! Thanks Steven!
line it up and full tilt. job done
What sort of things are in those alphabetical books behind the helm? Are they manuals?
Probably maritime laws and regulations! I’d like to see the actual navigation charts they keep and just how many there are.
Great video!
I'm sure the boat owner appreciates showcasing the crew's skills! Keep posting great content!

What are your feelings when your going thru this bridge and there’s other smaller boats next to you going thru also?
thanks for the shot of my hause :D
