    I love the sound of the Ocean. It is super relaxing. Instead of listen to "Ibiza Chillout Mix", I prefer watching SOB Videos.

    I really enjoy your videos. Such a beautiful place and the best looking people ever! Thank you.
    No matter how big and dangerous the waves in the video, the motorcycle ride at the end scares me more!

    I really like this format FOB-Filmer of Bali. The magical experience of paddling out at Ulu’s for the 1st time is something you never forget. Hiking down into a cave, then waiting for water to surge in. As you get sucked out the opening it’s like being reborn into a world of perfect barrels.
    The first time I went to Bali was in 1990, I was 14. We went there from Hawaii in a big group with my Dad, Gerry Lopez & family and a bunch of other Hawaii guys. We’re going to G-land to meet up with Peter McCabe and all the boys from Australia. We stopped in Valley first to serve for a week or two before going to G-land.
    Within an hour of landing in Bali I was getting laid for the first time with two college-age girls from Java. My dad and I were walking to our hotel room with our luggage and I heard all this whistling from the pool. I look over and there’s two topless girls waving me over. I look at my dad and he give me the look like go get em boy. I walked over with my suitcase to the edge of the pool and the girls looked up at me and said come swim with us. I went straight and put my surf shorts on and told my dad I’m not sure if I’ll ever see you again but thanks for everything! After 20 minutes of swimming in the pool they took me back to their room. Five or six hours later I turned up back at our hotel room. My dad took one look at me and laughed I said let’s go paddle out, we still have time to surf Kuta reef before it gets dark.
    After surfing we got two dollar massages on the beach by beautiful women. Later that night we met up with the rest of the Hawaii and Australia guys to go out barhopping. In Bali there was no drinking age, at least back then there wasn’t. I drink at least 15 beers that night but barely got drunk. It was weird. I was out drinking all the older Ausie guys. They couldn’t believe it. Finally they got me some kind of really strong mixed drink and suddenly I felt like I was frying on acid.
    The actor who played Turtle in movie North Shore was on that trip as well. I guess he was just kind of tagging along or something because he didn’t surf. I was stoked to meet the legendary Turtle, but all the other guys thought he was a dork and they kept making fun of him all night for not surfing, and threatening to drag him out and dump him into waves at G-land 🤣 That was my first experience realizing that Hollywood actors are just that, actors, and in real life they are often not very cool. I was really the only one being nice to him so he clung onto me like I was his only friend. Either that or he’s trying to hit on me 🤣
    It didn’t matter because when we got to the next bar and sat down with everyone, the Ausie guys started tapping me to look over at a table with two guys and the most beautiful girl I have still never seem to this day.
    One of them, I think maybe he was Chad Edsel said “I think she’s checking you out Mate! GO TALK TO HER NOW!”
    I looked over again, and some I just believe she was smiling at me and waving me over. I smile better but the two guys she was with didn’t look very friendly. They were all around 25 and I was 14.
    If you can imagine 15 or 20 of the rowdiest pro surfers from Australia, and a whole other group of legendary Hawaiian big wave surfers are all shit faced, focused on me and this girl, and screaming and yelling at me to go talk to her.
    The two guys she was with look like they were starting to be protective of her from this giant group of rowdy caveman. I’ve never been put on the spot that bad in my life and I do stand-up comedy. Every time I would look over at her she would smile at me and hold up her drink or wave me over. She was so incredibly beautiful I couldn’t believe she wanted me to come over. I’m a 14yo, skinny surf rat pothead, and she is a 25-year-old blonde bombshell supermodel.
    Finally her and the two men who looked like body guards from the Matrix movie got up to leave. She looked at me one last time and put her hands up and shrugged her shoulders and made a face like ‘I wish you would’ve come and talk to me.’ She waved bye, blew me a kiss and walked out of the bar.
    Everyone started yelling at me about had bad I blew it. Looking at her was like love at first sight in my heart felt like it was a literally been torn out of my chest. I couldn’t take it. I ran out of the restaurant into the alley that was crowded with tourists and local people selling trinkets. I spotted her ahead and ran through the crowd until I caught up. She turned around when I said hey and smiled. Hi so I told her I could not let you leave without at least you knowing your name. I said I didn’t want to go over and talk to her because all those guys I was with were acting.
    Then I asked her who were the two guys she was with and she told me they were her brother. I couldn’t believe it. I thought for sure they were her boyfriend or bodyguard or something like that. She told me they were just going back to their hotel for a half hour and then they were going to another bar, and that I should meet her there. She told me her name, Paloma. She was from Spain. I told her I will meet her there for sure and then she gave me a hug and walked off to catch up with her brothers.
    When I got back to the bar all the boys were cheering and yelling that I found in the bathtub to go talk to her. I told them that I was meeting her at another bar in a half an hour and I needed to go back and get some condoms and change into some nicer clothes.
    I ran home and changed, found the bar we were meeting, sat down at the bar, ordered a beer and waited for her to arrive. I waited, and waited, drink a beer, and waited a little longer. After an hour or two I realize she wasn’t coming, or I was at the wrong place. Whatever it was I knew I’d never see her again.
    It was at that moment that I decided that I would never let an opportunity like that get away from me again, regardless of the circumstance.
    I have kept that promise to myself, and even though I may have missed out on having sex with one of the most beautiful woman to ever walk the earth, the rest of my life was not full of the type of regret that I felt for not having got up and talked to her the first time she waved me over. And that is my Bali story 🤙

    • @NULINUS
      @NULINUS 5 років тому +2

      Renting would seem easier/cheaper, but then you gotta worry about time restrictions, or if the board is utter shit. Someone obviously making a killing renting to all the noobs at Batu. I'd bring my own tbh and would hit Keramas/ Utu asap.

    • @SurfersofBali
      @SurfersofBali  5 років тому +1

      I don't know much about board rentals, but there's plenty of places to rent boards. If you're not too fussy about what you ride renting is definitely an option.

      Buy a board for not much more than the cost of transporting yours from home, then either sell it for a slight loss or better yet leave it with a local grom that’s gonna shred with it and go pro.
