Penta was a champion in Impact for 2 days (yes it is listed as longer due to tapings, but still). Not everyone is world champion material, and WWE's track record with Mexican talent (ADR is an exception and Eddie and Rey Mysterio were/are Mexican-Americans) do not point to him being more than an IC/US champion. That said, I do think AEW could use him better as a singles star but Rey Fenix is clearly their favorite.

I couldn't see Penta and Rey in 2 separate companies. They are good at singles, but great as a tag team. At WWE, they would get lost in the shuffle and would be in prison, and would be handcuffed on what they can do. At AEW, they have been given a lot of TV time and opportunities when they were not injured, and still worked other promotions at the same time. To me they fit better in AEW, as international talent does. WWE is too restrictive and they don't get to see their family with the travel time. Penta got to bring his son out to the ring in AEW. I don't see WWE letting their children come out to the ring.
But the problem is that cmll deal which doesn’t allow for Mexican wrestler who don’t work for cmll to appear at the same show as cmll wrestlers this is keeping them away from proper roles in big ppvs like forbidden door or even wrestle dream and on the weeklys

Penta is a strong worker and can get over with a portion of the crowd but you still have them connect with a majority of your money spending audience. It’s always first and foremost a business.
I wouldn’t rule Penta to WWE out like I wouldn’t rule anything out in wrestling in 2024, but I think it’s more likely Becky Lynch goes to AEW than it is Penta goes to WWE.
