Sadly, the innocence of those days will never be repeated. Be careful what you wish for, because you might get it.
Thru the sixties our family drove from Cronulla to surfers , i remember it well with some old photos !! From 81 it's building development hasn't stopped
@@MultiShizmo back then 12 hours the old pacific highway , might be around 9 now with the bush destroying highway they have created ,
They had some groovy motels and tri-coloured cars back in the day.
Thank you so much for bringing this view of the Gold Coast to us. So much has changed but there are so many natural landmarks that are familiar.
I was born in Queensland and remember alot of the Gold coast beautiful early memories I now live in country WA 🥰
The days of care free innocence. We are never going back to the good ole normal.
These days are long gone unfortunately. My dad used to tell me about the carefree Gold Coast in the 50s. I was lucky enough to grow up in the 70s and 80s when the Gold Coast was still reasonably unspoilt. Now it’s way too over developed. They’ve ruined it.
Hey rohana9035, the people living there in the 1940's said it was spoiled already. The geriatrics in 1969 said it was spoiled and no good.
It's just a generation thing. Today's Gold Coast children in 2042 will bitch about how good it used to be .
@@patappleton6285Nope! Something irrevocably changed, ince certain elements were allowed to hold sway. It's obviously also question of scale: As a costal settlement is is entirely overwhelmed. You'd have to be insensible to not be able to tell the difference.
That is what the rich people do ,They stuff every thing they touch through their greed.
Your absolutley right.....Since they put the Q1 building in,its gone downhill...the golden age of he GC is over.....
@markbug5113 nah just the government Ill planing...rich people only do monopoly.... it is the government who make decisions.
This is wonderful!
I just want to jump in the picture and get out of this hell of 2023
Not a high-rise to be seen ..now the coast is one continuous line of fairly awful looking skyscrapers ..sad.
this is called life
They were the days, I remember them well. It is interesting viewing these movies and photos of the 50's and 60's, how fit and trim we all were then. Watch and play find the over weight people. There's not many.
hey i want to ask something, was everything white only? like poc couldn't go to certain places?
@@faithfulljune3716 No, not at all we have no restrictions now or then. I'm white, my wife is POC.
@@faithfulljune3716 i think back then it was a white australian policy
@@bot1a543 I do not feel any shame, but you obviously relish it. Nothing wrong with me or anyone else I know, apart from the sniveling creeps that want us to feel guilt for their own benefit. We have done nothing wrong.
Dont luve in queensland except for briefly in 1976 but in sydney in the sixties i went to every beach in sydney they were beautiful beaches and beautuful times sadly long gone especially now in such restrictive times
It's great to see what the Gold Coast once looked but I think it's also nice to see change and see what Gold Coast will look like in the near future.
With all of the open windows, I gather air-conditioning was rare and expensive.
Ah, the Gold Coast pre Ben Cousins.
I just recently left the GC. Far too expensive to rent and far far too expensive to buy.
I ended up in a small town in Central Queensland where at least you can buy a house at a reasonable cost.
now it’s overcrowded and slowly going downhill (not the beauty of the place itself) more so the price of everything almost makes it hard to enjoy the place these days unfortunately.
Where are all the caravan parks now? Very sad.
The one at Cottontree (Maroochydore) is still there. And so is the one at Coolum. Sadly, many have been turned into hotels and subdivisions.
Developers and councils destroyed it
@@auroraborealis5565 I lived on gold and sunshine coasts it’s a vulgar display tacky not my idea of class. Green areas access for all I was ranting that at 16. 53 nothings changed.
Seen a few pissed developers spill their guts in my time. Grotesque greed weakness of character disguised in opulence and big noting
When Australia was Australia
Give me a time machine. 😊
A good one to watch is history city of Elizabeth South Australia from nothing in 1955 till now.it was an experimental city in the commonwealth and shows classic footage of its birth including housing, lifestyles, work life, etc shows birth of now old Holden's factory and industries involvement,10 pound pome process from hostile to house to work etc it was part of the experiment purpose that was successful at start, to a bad reputation city in Adelaide and how now it's pulling itself out shows classic story of British immigration thought you might like to see and learn god bless.
Comment to the thumbnail: "The machine is still on Moira!" Clear and Present Danger (1994) Paramount Pictures.
They should have bought a house on the gold coast. They would be millionaires.
Yes sir you have to love the suits, they take a shit hole like this and turn it into the paradise we now have today.God bless their poisoned little hearts and minds 😵💫
It must have been a wonderful place back then.
It ain’t anymore I had to sell up and move on the crime there now is out of control
Sad really
once was beautiful now wrecked.
Gold coast WTF?
5:45 and nightlife on the coast is gay.
Joe and his greedy deveiopers ruined a once lovely enviro. Wouldnt go there now if i was paid. What a sad ending, now evident across many a once similar locales across the country.
Im a gold coaster, it is just progress.
Bravo! I sure was lucky to be born in this lovely era. Thanks Mum and Dad.
