- Bench testing a Draw-tite Activator II time delay brake controller. The 1156 light bulb simulates the trailer brakes and changes in brightness based on the brake controller output.
Nice vid. Basic info, nothing flash; just the right way to explain how brake controllers work. Thanks.
This video was perfect, straight to the point. Very helpful!
Wow, thanks a lot. You saved me a lot of time and trouble. Great video.
Thank you. Exactly what I was looking for. Great video, to the point!
Very good video precise and to the point, no fluff, thank you
Still a valid video. Thanks, it was very helpful. I just purchased a truck with one of these in it and this helped me understand the manufacturers directions better.
Some great information thanks!!
Had to look twice but it seems by color code, the black wire is to ground and the white wire to B+ positive. Electrons do not know the difference however standardization of color codes helps.
Brilliant 101% the best I have seen and the most simplest way of explaining it Thank you
lol so glad i found out what that little black box was in my truk tky
Helpful video. Thank you.
If you are able to help I’m just using a volt meter instead of a light. With a car battery hooked to the black and white wires the blue wire has 12v Without touching anything on the controller. Bad controller?
I’m testing it because I had 12v at my brake pin on the truck with no brakes being pushed. Thanks for the great video!
I think I remember doing the same, and if I remember correctly the manufacturer said that was normal as it will have voltage to it but the amperage is almost nothing. You might have to try it with a load?
Thanks man
I just installed a "curt" on my truck. Took my time went very slowly. Now when I hit the brakes it blinks red indicating a possible short it says. This is pretty basic stuff - could the unit be damaged? Mine will not do what yours is showing. Black to power - white to ground - red to brake light switch - blue to trailer. hmm..
Hmm, did you try bench testing it like this? And just to be sure, red should get B+ on the red wire for the brakes being applied... Did you check the wiring on the vehicles side with a voltmeter? Those two should narrow it down whether it's the controller or the vehicle's wiring...
@@kmmmor yep all of it . All there is a red flashing on the controller. And your video is very easy to understand it. Maybe a dud..
@@kingtitan2051 Yeah, my guess would be it's a defective unit then...
@@kmmmor on mine it will not light the bulb.. Anyways great video. It helped me figure out its broke lol
Hi. can you help me? Where can I connect an electric breacks in a f150 2006. Thankyou
did you just run this to a car battery? using the positive and the negative sides, then the blue to a bulb with the outgoing to ground?
Yes, that's correct
Doesn't help me. I hooked up a draw tite and have zero power.
When I hook it up with my trailer and apply the brakes ,the brake unit shows 00 and when I try and adjust it, nothing happens. Do you know whats wrong with it?
Is this for the same model, Draw-tite Activator II? I don't see in the manual what 00 would be, the output knob is turned up right?
I also have the same problem zero display no matter where I set the brake controller
Could you talk any lower?
